《Crystal High》Chapter 5: Entrance Exams

I ended up getting home late that night. My parents were so scared that something had happened to me, and I jsut shook my head no when they asked and comforted them.
I hid the knowledge of my fight that I had and the dinner I already ate from them, and I just told them I spent an extra amount of time working out today. They gave me a full hour long lecture about responsibilities and time management that I had to sit through as a consequence for making them worry, and I also wasn't allowed to do anything for the next week which was a problem since the Crystal High entrance exams were in two weeks. I really need as much training as possible, but I know my parents will never allow it. They don't like that I'm trying to get into Crystal High anyway.
I saw the bright spot in it though, and thought I could use the time to study for the written portion of the test.
The wound on my body healed after a good night's rest, and I still don't know what caused a burn mark on my body. Maybe I got struck by lightning and it made that wound? What happened to my other wounds though?
I contemplated these thoughts as I went back to school. It was another day of insult hurling students taking shots at me again, but with a few more physical altercations because of where I want to go to highschool. It'll be tough getting into Crystal High because of the practical and written exams they give.
I wasn't the smartest kid in school, but I was in the top 10 in my class. It's not like that alone will get me in, but it will probably help. I need to prove myself in a fight though. I just hope the practical test won't be that hard.

I passed Drazen in the hall going to class, and I couldn't hold back a chuckle from the look of shock he gave me when he saw my lack of injuries. His two bigger cronies are still in the hospital from the wounds I gave them, one with a broken leg and the other with a broken face, so he looked a little more mortal today. I need to quickly go home after school today though, so I don't get caught by him again.
The two weeks passed by faster than a normal two weeks it seemed. I guess that would be logical because my nerves were so worked up for it. I went to see Lainey one time when I got free from my parents punishment, and we talked some. We were too afraid to go anywhere because of our social status. We would probably get bullied, and there is something about insults and physical altercations that dulls the mood.
It was super awkward sitting in her small apartment again though. We were the first people of the opposite genders we have ever had full conversations with, and it really went awkward when she wanted to confirm what high school I was going for to which I dodge the question quickly. I didn't want her worrying about me, or make fun of me for my choice.
The mood steadily got better though. When we started talking about our favorite protectors out now and their guilds, we continued the conversation for several hours. I eventually left after we ate some dinner, and told her I'd see her later. She gave me her phone number in case I ever got one, and we departed ways. Hopefully I won't see her at the Crystal High entrance exams because that would be an awkward conversation.

The day came for the entrance exams, and walking to Crystal High was probably the longest walk I have ever taken. The campus had a ring of buildings on the outside, and a large crystal like structure in the middle where we were going. It also had other structures outside of the ring for training and research. Inside of the crystal structure was several floors. The examanees went to the second floor(The one the the most width)and in it was a large auditorium.
Students were separated alphabetically and according to our schools. Of course with my luck I was sat right next to Drazen because there was only three people including me and him that applied to go here. The other one was our school's beauty named Zen. She had white hair, brown eyes, fair skin, a really good figure, and a calm and cool personality. Since she had a cool personality, she never talked to me. Which I can't blame her I'm a cool killer guaranteed, but she never insulted me or assaulted me. That gave me a kind of reverence and respect for her which I usually don't have for people. She had the ability to turn the moisture in the air to ice. She was known as the ice queen.
The exams finally started when the principle came into the auditorium and started to explain what was going on. What he said was mostly standard, so I took the time to try and look for Lainey. I eventually saw her near the bottom rows looking in awe at her surroundings. I couldn't really blame her this place was amazing. Right when I was looking around too, the principal said something shocking.

See through the harrowing eyes of a man at his wit's end; through a dark fantasy tale of horror, hope, and desperation. Search for the cure. Conquer your personal demons. Welcome to Catalyst! As this is an archive of Catalyst Quest (an interactive, collaborative story), the prompts that were included with the original run of Avowed have been stripped, and the story is presented like a traditional novel for your reading convenience. If you would like to read Catalyst in its original format or participate in current events, you can find us here, on Sufficient Velocity. This book is complete! The story will continue with Catalyst: Calunoth, just as soon as I am done revising its content for here on Royal Road.
