"W-what? You..."
"Never mind, I just spoke nonsense darling." Father was sweating a lot all of sudden.
My mother smiled in a way that made even me fear her. My father was done for, he has incurred heavens wrath.
"Darling I can ex-"
"Don't darling me."
"My condolence uncle, greet my ancestors in the after life." Elise said to my father. Her eyes were full of pity, as she was looking at a dead man.
Hearing Elise's sincere yet unbelievable words my father and mother couldn't help but gape in shop. Their jaws dropped and they stared dumbfounded at Elise.
Elise puffed her chest out and put her arms on her wrist.
"Ancestors mother is so fierce. " Bob blurted out.
"Of course." Bould nodded his bald head shone with praise.
Mother soon recovered from her shock, she coughed twice and said.
"Now, now there seems to be a misunderstanding." Her scary nature suddenly vanished and she now emitted a holy aura. It was as she was the mother of mankind.
"Aunty, I wonder what uncle meant earlier. Your smile opened my eyes, I didn't know a smile could be so frightening."
"It's nothing good, better forget what you saw." My mother smiled seemed a bit forced and she seemed a bit helpless.
"Now, now junior sister Elise, there are things that adults can't tell children." Uncle Lee stroked his beard while he chuckled.
"Who are you calling a child? I'm almost seven years old."
"Elise, please don't be rude to Uncle Lee." My father said.
"Che" Elise clicked her tongue. Such a good disciple, she didn't make it difficult for my parents.
"No offense, no offense." Uncle Lee stoked his beard.
"Mother, Let's go to the sect. Uncle Lee has created a great place for studying magic and martial arts. Also, since I became young patriarch, I will be sect leader in future."
"Thorus." My mother's smile was lovely, she was beaming with happiness. "Of course mother wants to see your sect, it is good that you became the young patriach, hehehe, I expected nothing less from my son. A tigress won't beget a dogs son." Her face became a bit scary as she became more an more excited. Noticing that she was a bit out of line she adjusted her face to her normal loving one.
Somehow the image of my perfect innocent mother crumbled. When she was praising me, her son, her eyes shone with a profound dangerous light.
When father saw her like that he became excited.
"Do you see that Bould? Supreme Martial Mother's eyes, they are like general Hoffmann's."
This time Bould didn't scold Bob. Instead he gulped down and nodded.
He said in a low voice that anybody could still hear. "We better watch out. Don't be disrespectful Bob."
Even Julius looked at them nodding in approvement.
"Hohoho, great then let's head out." Uncle Lee flicked his beard.
"Finally, I was becoming restless." Elise jumped down from her seat and was first to leave the house. My parents followed with helpless smiles.
- - - -
We were outside the house.
My father was adjusting his sword hilt.
"Uncle Lee, then please show us the way."
Uncle stroked his beard with a flick of his sleeve. "Good, follow me."
"Wait." Everyone was about to follow Uncle Lee when they turned their heads.
"Walking is beneath me, do I look like some peasant?"
"Thorus." Father was about scold me but then he seemed to remember something good and his mood turned great.

"Don't say peasant. Peasants are the foundation of a kingdom, they go to war while the nobles enjoy life."
"Aiya father, why didn't you say peasant as well? Can it be you are a noble?" I always wondered. My mother and father despite being ordinary villagers, I always felt that they hid their true powers.
"As if I am a noble hahahaha." Father's laugh sounded forced. I just randomly asked, it seemed like I needed to further investigate.
How could he be so bad at lying, maybe because it was because my father was a simple minded person. He wouldn't be the one to scheme and lie. He seemed more like straight forward type of guy.
My mother on the other hand used to be always caring but protective. She was more serious than my father. Today however I saw never seen expressions on my mother. While they never held any ill intend, they were frightening alright.
My mother eye witched slightly and she coughed twice.
"Anyway my son, you can be arrogant but you have to back it up. You need to have the qualification for being arrogant, if you have nothing to back up your words you will die a miserable dogs death in this world."
"Ehem, darling. It's good that you give life lessons but-"
"Oh." Mother chuckled holding her hand in front her mouth.
"I almost forgot that my genius son is only two years old." Mother slightly panted.
"Now let's this genius son prove you his worth. Let this son show you how I am going to back up my words. Please stand behind me. I'm going to summon a vehicle."
My mother and father had a blank look on their face, they looked Uncle Lee who was stroking his bear while he nodded to my parents.
Their blank looks vanished and they became excited.
The trio had burning eyes, they seemed quite eager to see my creation.
Elise could only sigh at such display. Well, from all the people she knew me best.
Everyone went behind me waiting in anticipation.
In the scifi series Star Trek replicators could materialize matter into pretty much anything. The only limitation was that you couldn't replicate something too complex.
In the series there was something called an industrial replicator, that could replicate ship parts. The drawback however was that industrial replicators couldn't replicate a spaceship in its entirety. They still needed to be assembled by huge machinery.
Currently I was in a world were magic was a reality. Not only have I created fictional technology, I could also use magic. What did it mean? I could just replicate the ship parts and assemble it simultaneously.
This procedure use a lot of mana and mental power of that I was certain. That was no problem for me though, I could handle such task. Even though I had slowed down my magic practice, that didn't mean I wasted my time.
Now the only thing missing was knowledge. I could use a pill to get the skills of a space ship engineer but I only had a bag of beast cores left. I needed the rest of the cores for further projects. No, this time I couldn't cheat the system, it was time to do manual labor.
I looked at my left arm, a screen projection appeared, my left arm had a computer build in. I needed to access earth's data base and upload all information regarding spaceships, fictional or nonfiction in to my brain. With the help of the computer and the nano bots inside my body, I was able to integrate any skill and information in to my body.

It was like in the movie Matrix, where Neo learned to use martial arts in the matrix over night.
"Computer, access earth's data base. Compile all information about spaceships, fictional and nonfictional. Upload all the information in to my brain."
A warning sound sounded out an distant yet professional female voice computer said.
"Warning, this process can cause serious harm to the users body."
"Ignore."
"Authorisation Code required."
Ah this was so cool. I always wanted to do this. Good thing I came up with a cool and profound code before.
"Overwrite security protocol; Authorisation Thorus, Alfa Earth Omega Heaven Six Seven"
Shit I got goosebumps.
"Acknowledged."
Suddenly by whole body went stiff. A burning pain which was the greater then everything I have experienced in this life. I snorted inwardly, this pain was nothing, compared to what I had endured in hell. My whole nervous system and brain were on fire while the nano bots modified my body. The resulting pain created dark energy which got absorbed by the seed.
A sharp pain in my head appeared. It was felt like thousand needless were stabbing my brain. A flood of information appeared in my brain. Blue prints, schematics, scientific formulas and other such things appeared in my mind and vanished.
My body started to relax. Seemed I did not get injured much.
It was time to test my theory.
First let's use the replicator and create the ship parts. I didn't want to mess up and do the assembly and replication at the same time.
I stretched out my hand. With the knowledge I obtained from the earth's database, I imagined my first spaceships. Since it was my first time building a ship, I wanted to start small.
A basic ship with a warp core, matter antimatter reactor, shields, phasers,50 photon torpedoes, 30 quantum torpedoes, long range sensors, astrology room. What more did it need? Ah right, my first ship also needed, rooms, a holo deck, a mess hall, a kick ass bridge, an armory, prison cells, crew quarters, replicators, a shuttle ramp, transporters and a cloaking device. Also a botanic garden wouldn't be bad.
Let's see, this would take lot's of fuel to replicate, but I could feed my replicators with mana. Also my artificial arm was able to convert the mana in the air into replicator fuel. The rate was not as fast as when injecting mana directly, but I could almost match it up by converting water elementals into heavy water.
I created a ship design in my mind, the outer hull was a mix out of Mithril, Duranium and gold essence. The ships form was that of round Pagoda. It hat 67 stores and was 500 meters long and 200 meter wide at the bottom.
The Bridge was on top, on deck one.
My design took shape in my mind. As I designed my ship more and more ideas came up. I also added holo emitters on all decks. I could create a whole place holder crew until I recruted real people.
Also force fields generators for security reasons were added. Of course artificial gravity was a must.
After five minuets I created a model in my mind and transferred it in to the computer. Since my mind and the computer were linked, communicating with it was really easy. I didn't even had to plug in some USB cabal. It was really convenient.
I turned around and coughed once. The crowd was waiting alright. I didn't want to let them wait for too long.
"Please, no matter what do not disturb me. No matter what happens.
"Thorus, you don't have to do it whatever you doing, it sounds dangerous." My father said. Worry could be heard in his voice.
I looked at mother who stood still. Her eyes were burning.
"Darling, let him try. Since our child is blessed by the heavens we shouldn't hinder his progress. Also what can he do? He probably wants to make us a carriage so we don't need to walk. Isn't this sweet."
If she only knew.
Bob and Bould looked at my mother and smiled knowingly. Julius shook his head and smiled.
Elise also looked excited as she was cracking her knuckles in anticipation. She looked like she was about to join a fight.
"Hohoho, young master just be careful. Don't worry, no one will disturb you." Uncle Lee stroked his beard.
I nodded to them and turned back again. Good that in front of me was the plains. It was the perfect ground for creating big ass ships.
Computer load project USS-Supreme Dao and replicate the parts.
"Warning. Insufficient fuel. Do you want proceed?"
"Proceed. Also activate the mana fuel converters."
"Acknowledged."
A transportation sound appeared and particles got assembled in to many parts. First, the small parts were replicated. I looked at the computer screen and could see the consumption rate. As soon as more complicated were replicated the consumption rate spiked.
The ship computer, warp core and weapons, were really fuel consuming.
The mana converters couldn't keep up and the replicator fuel that was being consumed.
"Put all power to in to the mana converters."
A sound of acknowledgment rang out and the replicator fuel consumption was slowed down. I had about 56 % replicator fuel left and had only replicated about 24% of the ship parts.
The good thing was that the most complex parts were finished. The consumption and fuel recovery rate stabilized and I didn't even need to inject mana manually. My fuel was constantly at 23 to 24%.
The ship parts were almost finished.
"What is this?"
Cries of shock could be heard from behind
Big metal parts like the outer hull and millions of smaller parts were right in front of me.
Finished.
"Process completed."
"Computer, return energy distribution to normal.
Now came the the difficult part, I willed the parts to assemble. My mana coated the parts and the construction begun.
In two years I had almost perfected mana control. I also practiced moving heavy objects. But this ship building was on a whole other scale. My mana consumption was really high.
If I exhaust all my mana it should be enough. A pagoda space ship took form.
Just before my mana was exhaust the ship was assembled.
"Computer activate cloaking device."
The golden pagoda became invisible. This was crucial, some villagers are sure on the way here to check out my ship.
"Wha-"
Everyone was stunned. There was no time to explain, better we kept going.
"Computer, beam seven people to the bridge, energize."
My vision went blank before turning normal again. I was not in front of my house, no, I was on bride of USS Supreme Dao NCC-76767.

Memories of a Certain Spiritual Hourglass
Xavier Wright never felt special because he could see ghosts. To him, interacting with the dead was no different than being a talented musician or athlete. However, for Gigi Amokachi, Xavier was the last piece of the puzzle regarding her family tradition and her life-long goal to become a spirit hunter. And yet, both of them could not possibly imagine the consequences of their desires, the dangers inherent in a witch's promise, the unforgiving flow of time, and the foolishness of a lover's regret.

Unstable and weakened, will he be more hindrance than help? Can he become the warrior he once was?A Monk and a Monkey journey across a world...... where the remnants of technology are seen as magic, while pockets of humanity strive to drag themselves out of ignorance.... where the descendants of animal-human hybrids, once created as instruments of war, now seek to dominate the world as demons.... where beings who call themselves Immortals and Gods preoccupy themselves with selfish pastimes, ignoring everything else. Among other things, a story about growth, grit, and being better than the person you were yesterday. Here's my rambling on why I'm writing Journey West 5000. Journey West 5000 is my crazy ambitious writing project to adapt a classic epic called "Journey to the West" for a global, modern audience. It's a sci-fi story disguised as fantasy, and has some road trip + monster of the week elements (as does the original Journey to the West). No system, definitely no harem, gradual power progression. Hmm, what else can I put here so potential readers know what to expect? My writing style for now is mostly "show don't tell", because I believe that readers don't need to have everything pointed out to them, and that they should be allowed to make up their own minds about characters based on the actions of those characters. I'm also trying to be less long-winded (a weakness pointed out by some friends) in order to write according to something Neil Gaiman said, which is to write as though I'm the one who has to pay for every word, not the reader. This will bring down my chapter word counts, and might drive away potential readers, but I believe there's value in learning to compress and be concise. All chapters posted here will have been edited. Constructive criticism, comments, and feedback would be very much welcome and appreciated. Please, please help point out any typos or grammatical mistakes, I'm striving to minimize those as much as possible. Above all, I hope you enjoy my story.
