"Fucking. Unbelievable!"
He winces at her outburst, carefully sliding away the cup of coffee away from her. While he didn't know what crawled up her ass this afternoon, he wasn't exactly suicidal enough to ask. A shame about the coffee, though. The stains would be another story that he could tell if well... if someone came by.
"Work wasn't that bad, was it?" He probes, taking a sip of his own coffee to calm his nerves. Much to his relief, she didn't immediately snap at him, instead knocking her head against the counter and letting out a whine.
"It's not work." She not-complained, reaching out towards her cup of coffee that he was all-too-happy to give. "It's well, it's a friend. Pissed me off after she basically snuck in at... at work. Yeah."
"Shouldn't you be more happy with that?" He winces at her glare, but he eventually found the will to stammer onward, "Like look, you're working as wait staff at the cafe nearby, right? If your friend went to see you, then you might've gotten better tips."
"Not that." She shook her head, blowing out wisps of steam from her cup of coffee before taking a sip. "No tips where I'm working from – just a steady wage. It also means that there's nothing left for me to feel but absolute embarrassment when my friend uh... dropped by. Yeah, let's call it that."
"Can't exactly help you with that, then." He replies with a shrug, clicking off his phone before shoving it back into his pocket. "All I can do for you is give you a cup of coffee."
"... Shitty cup of coffee at that." She mumbles into her cup.
"Hey."
"Sorry, sorry." She winces, raising her arms in surrender. "It's just... you know, bad mood, bad mouth. You know that kind of thing happens." She frowns. "... Not like I'll deny saying that your coffee's awful."

"If you want a better cup of coffee, there's a cafe right nearby." He snaps, leaning back against his seat and huffing at her. "Where you work at. And where you just came from."
"Sorry?" She offered, only to receive a glare in response. "... Alright, so it's mostly my fault–"
"Mostly?"
"–Entirely my fault," She corrects, "But I prefer less sugar and milk. Almost black."
"You could've just said that instead." He sighs, letting out a scoff before the tension fades from his shoulders. "Alright, guess I'll get it right next time. How many spoons of sugar and milk are we talking about here?"
"About..." She trails off, eyeballing her hand before turning towards him. "... Half a spoon each?"
His face scrunches. "You're weird."
"Not like the insult means anything, coming from you." She sighs, taking a sip of her coffee to disguise her smile even as he squawked at her. "Anyway, you got any friends that you wanna smush their faces in? Just wondering if I'm the only one."
"I do." His face morphs into a smile. "Staring at one of them right now."
She blinks, leaning away from him while pointing at herself in surprise. "Me? I'm a damn saint."
"... Right," he drawled, downing off the rest of his coffee before shaking his head, a forlorn smile on his face. "... Well, gonna brew myself another batch of coffee. You need another?"
She glances down towards her own half-empty cup, frowning for a second before downing it all in one go.
"Yep." She agrees with a smile. "Gonna need a lot more before I calm down."
