《On How I Slayed The Celestial Beings To Court A Girl》Chapter 4: I Became My Own Doppelganger

Modern age. Latrom Star.
The New Dawn Federation was established 278 years ago right when the continental plates shifted and gathered into a huge supercontinent like Pangea.
At this time inside an apartment complex located in a dense New Dawn city...
A teenaged boy that appeared to be about 15 years old was looking out the window with a complex expression on his face.
His head was resting on the palms of his right hand and the elbows were propped up on the open windowsill.
This teenaged boy had ordinary black hair, ordinary facial features, ordinary height, ordinary weight, ordinary length, and in short…very ordinary.
Combined with his melancholy temperament, his charm and presence was only just above average.
In a sea of people, almost no one would bother to take a second glance.
Despite that though, the teenager considered himself handsome at heart.
His name was Jack and his surname was Parker.
Just a few seconds ago, he was just on Earth and the next second he had found himself in a strange new world.
He didn’t even have time to erase his browser history or hide his treasures.
The inhabitants of this world referred to it as the Latrom Star.
Latrom Star was similar but at the same time not similar to Earth.
At first Jack Park thought that he had caught up with the trend of isekais(other world journeys) in light novels and anime that the 21st century youths were so fond of.
But then later on, he felt his experience on Earth was just a lengthy dream that happened in a split second.
This was like a situation described by an ancient chinese philosopher who wrote something along the lines of:
Zhuang Zhou dreamed of a butterfly and the butterfly did not know it was Zhuang Zhou.

Jack Parker didn’t know if the self right now was living in a realistic world dreamt by him on Earth or if his experience on Earth was just a dream from the ‘Jack Parker’ in this world.
In short, Jack Parker felt that his IQ wasn’t enough but it was an undeniable fact that he had transmigrated.
Jack Parker took a deep breath, exhaled, and his eyes took note of the scenery outside the window.
His current residence was located in Sakura City which was a city located in the 27th province of the New Dawn Federation.
The New Dawn Federation had 95 provinces and the 27th province was situated to the southeast of the federation’s center.
Its architecture and culture resembled the Japan from Earth in some aspects.
And the apartment complex Jack Parker was in right now was situated in a densely populated city.
The space between buildings was tight and the streets outside the window were often crowded with busy activity.
Jack Parker listlessly closed his eyes and felt the relaxing cool breeze coming in from the window.
He decided dream or not, it didn’t matter whether he came from Earth or Latrom Star.
In his view, life was just plain life and it didn’t matter where he lived it out.
Jack Parker was aware his outlook on life leaned more towards the ruthless side.
And no, his attitude didn’t result from an unsatisfactory life on either Earth or Latrom.
Although Jack Parker's heart was a tad bit cold, it didn’t mean he was unemotional.
He would definitely help that slow grandma cross the road if he could.
His attitude merely came from his personality.
If his personality was able to be described in one word, it would be…lazy.
Too lazy to care or bother.
Jack Parker would like to mention one of his thirteen favorite sentences.

“If you can’t resist, why not just lie down and enjoy it.”
No matter the situation, the status quo couldn’t be changed with his meager abilities.
As a person who had been baptized from the countless fantasy works Earth had to offer, Jack Parker wasn’t really perturbed by the supernatural event that happened to him.
However...
One. Thing. Did.
Motherfudger!
What happened to his previous body with the charm of a mature man!
Jack Parker clenched his teeth with hatred and he gazed at the scenery outside the window.
The ‘him’ in this Latrom Star was much younger than the ‘him’ from Earth.
Although he was grateful for the extra years, Jack Parker was not very happy.
Even if it might have been a dream...
The self from Earth had spent countless years of effort despite his slothy personality to develop a physique that would hopefully one day get him laid.
However, all his efforts had been in vain!
The self in this Latrom Star didn’t even have hair yet…
Whoosh. Thwack!
Before Jack Parker could get any more agitated, the wind had blown something onto his face blocking his vision.
He reached up and grabbed whatever it was that was so hateful.
Hmm?
This silky feeling…
These black laces…
Three openings…
(⊙_☉)
Gosh dammit, this was an women’s underwear!
A rush of adrenaline rushed through his body and he instinctively closed the window and pulled the blinds with his free hand.
Someone happened to be sun drying laundry somewhere and factors such as Jack Parker’s impeccable location, the wind, and the density of the surrounding buildings caused this unfortunate lad to nearly suffer a catastrophe.
“Phew”
Jack Parker exhaled a sigh of relief.
Although he was apathetic and lazy, it didn’t mean he wasn’t bothered by social death.
Tsk. Tsk.
No one should have seen him right?
Jack Parker was about to dispose of the criminal evidence in his hand when he started to hear a deep primordial ringing in his years.
What now? he pondered.
The sound was complex to describe and somehow had the taste of desolation.
Jack Parker felt the closest description he could find for this sound was…the cry of a sword?
Um, I couldn’t have some sort of mental illness right?
After all, I did just experienced a series of paranormal events such as transmigration or whatever…
Before Jack Parker could further explore the origin of this ringing, a series of messages emerged in his mind.

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Meanwhile, have some Slice of Life.) Updates every Friday Cover made using Waifulabs Written using 4thewords (referral code: UZJRY55368)
8 105The Third Spire
It has been decades since the Wizardly Order rose and helped the Realm to banish the monstruos Elfey from its lands by building the Five Spires. The kingdom has prospered greatly in the time since, advancing both in the magical arts and the more mundane technology. The Wizards have grown too, gaining influence and spreading throught the Realm, Wizards' Towers dotting the landscape on many regions. But as the Realm grows and starts looking beyond its borders, the Wizards are faced with one insidious enemy inside its own borders. Master Garner, a wizard in the scarcely populated far West of the Realm, feels the situation getting out of hand, and a violent purge forces him out of his beloved Tower. The wizard takes his apprentices and allies in search of uncertain safety in the Third Spire. Some sources of inspiration for this story, for variable reasons: Riyria Chronicles, The Wandering Inn, Gentleman Bastard series. Note: First dedicated attempt at writing. I'm looking for feedback, and I will appreciate if you point out any mistakes. Updates: Tuesday, and every other Thursday, as life allows it.
