《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 31 - Chosen

I"What do you mean 'disciple of chosen', explain," I questioned Jododam.
"Do you know that vampires are a noble blood Dyestral?" Jododam began to walk around.
"I believed that you might've mentioned it once before, or I already knew that,"
"There is a problem with that... power that vampires have,"
"What problem?"
"There are three vampire houses, Blutrot, Leben, and Tod houses, if they begin to inbreed too much, their source and powers weaken, so the houses made an event called 'the chosen',"
"Explain,"
"The three vampire houses choose one demon they know to become a vampire, you drink a cup of the head vampires blood along with one drop of something called 'lifeless dew', which is made out of a rare root. Afterwards, one of the chosen dies by one of the other's hands at a banquet, leaving two remaining, and usually, those two wed,"
"How often does it happen?"
"Four times every century, once every twenty-five years, and this year is my first time choosing, and I believe that you are the best candidate for me,"
"What if I deny this grateful offering?"
"I'm afraid I have to kill you, only vampires and close friend related to them can know about this ritual, so I'll ask this one last time, Dyestral, will you become my disciple of chosen?" Jododam held forward the cup full of his blood.
"...I accept to becoming your first chosen."
Jododam put his left hand in his bucket got a small dark indigo bottle with golden details. He put one drop of what was in the bottle into the glass and stirred it by moving the cup. I walked up to Jododam and took the wine glass from his clutches. In one gulp, the concoction was gone from the glass, and I felt healthy, only for a short while.
A few seconds later, there was a pain in my chest even I couldn't withstand, and I collapsed onto the floor, screeching in pain. As the pain swelled around my body, my vision became blurry; limbs became numb, I couldn't even think anymore due to the pain.
"One last thing Dyestral, not everyone survives the process of becoming a vampire. You have my wishes."
That's the last thing Jododam said to me before I blacked out and begun the trial to become a vampire. I was floating in a pitch-black room, not being able to move my body. I wondered how long I was in there, a day, or a minute?
After a while in the darkness, a person all dressed in white floated right next to me. The person was covered in drapes of white and grey, behind it seemed to be a bright light, like some sort of holy entity had come to take me away.
'Who are you?' I thought, unable to speak.
"Who do you think I a m?" The person responded. "W ha t d o yo u th in k I a m?" "W h a t d o y o u do t o y o u r s e l f..."

The person draped in white took off his hood. I was amazed at who it was; It was someone I have never seen. A demon that I have never seen, three times as tall as me, purple flesh, torn wings, dark horns, and orange eyes, all surrounded by a blue flame which kept burning its body.
"You're that voice, but who are you?"
"I could b e you," The demon said. "O r I could not, but I am part of your life D y e s t r a l, and I w I L L always be with you, I was that voice that you sometimes heard, although you probably knew that already,"
'Just answer the question!' I thought, my head echoed with the words.
"I will not, but how about I show y o u something,"
The demon snapped its bony fingers, and I was teleported to a meadow. I gained the ability to move, and I looked around. There were dandelions across many hills, the place gave me a nostalgic feeling, but I couldn't put my finger on why.
"Where is this place?" I asked the demon.
"It's a memory from someone you knew, and loved dearly."
I looked around and saw a massive tree, and the person underneath it surprised me. She looked ten years younger than I remembered her, my mother. She was sitting underneath the tree, using her source of light to make a blue aura.
Insects were crowding around that aura, as well as rodents and even animals like deers. She was just sitting there reading a book, but it looked like my mother was a queen of the forest. An ominous wind then came from my mother, and all the animals scampered away in fear.
"Would you stop that," My mom chuckled, to something. "You're gonna scare the child."
I looked at my mother's stomach to see that it bulged; she was pregnant with me.
"What a fine memory this is," Said the demon who was behind me. "Why don't I show you another."
The demon then snapped his fingers, and I was transported to a memory of my house. Although it wasn't my memory, I saw that my mother was still pregnant with me, and I also saw… my father.
It looked just like the picture I saw of him, grey hair, green eyes, and a head taller than my mother. Unlike the tales my mother would tell me, my father didn't live up to my expectations. His clothes were ragged and had massive bags underneath his eyes.
"Why the fuck is it stew again?!" My dad yelled. He had a jug of some sort of alcohol in his right hand.
"I can't afford anything else with you drinking your weight every night!" My mother responded.
"Did you just talk back to me?"
"Why Yes, yes, I did." My mother began to tremble.

My father got up and lifted his hand and summoned his incarnation weapon, it was in the shape of a halberd, except that it was white and the blade was out of proportion to the rest of the weapon. It reminded me of the colour of my chains; it was the only thing I could see that related me to this beast.
"It's because of that child in yer belly ain't it *HIC* ish because I knocked yer up that you can talk back to me," My father was about to fall over.
"Edgar, whatever your thinking, don't do it, you'll be killed for it," My mother began to step away from him.
"Shut up you bitch and accept your fate!"
My father swung his halberd right into my mother's stomach, blood spurting everywhere and a small infant now on the floor, still connected with a cord. That baby was me, and I could tell that I was underdeveloped, being as little as I was, but something was different. I broke down, my legs gave up, as I saw what was about to happen.
The baby was then surrounded in blue flames, which quickly subsided. The next thing is that the infant stood up and jumped onto my father before ripping his throat out. I then tore out his tongue and chewed it, spitting it on my fathers' corpse.
I was surprised; the illness was a cover-up; I killed my father. Meanwhile, my mother was still alive, sobbing on the floor while I crawled back into her womb while it was regenerating. In her whimpers, I was able to make sense of a single sentence.
"Please don't go, at least protect the child." My mother said while crying in her blood.
She then looked up and stopped crying, the bloody mess was gone, and my father's throat injury was no more. Although my father was still dead, it looked like some sort of illness, like some meat poisoning, which my mother had in her stew, there was no blood or signs of struggle, just a man who died from food poisoning.
"Thank… yo," My mum collapsed and fell asleep, probably due to the blood loss, which was cleaned up.
"How did she?" I said. "That regeneration was only known to greater demons or above."
"Did you ever know your mother soul ability?" The demon asked me.
I shook my head, I always knew she had one, but whatever I did, she refused to use it.
"It's something close to yours actually, she was able to see the unseeable, hear the unhearable, what healed her was a soul of a demon,"
"So is that how I became half-demon?" I said. "Both my parents were humans, but a demon saved me, making my soul a demon,"
"Yes, that demon gave almost all of his strength, soul, and source to save you, and that corrupted you, the soul of that demon which was transferred to you, that made your soul become a demon."
My head began to hurt, even more, I started to scream in agony, trying to come to terms of what just happened. I calmed myself down soon after and looked back up to the demon.
"So, I killed my father?" I asked it.
"Correct Dyestral."
I'm not sure why, but I started to feel regret. If I didn't, I wouldn't have stood here today, as well as my mother; I owed my life to that kind soul, but still.
"Each of the five races minds are all the same if you hit it just right, it crumbles." The demon said.
I summoned the chain on my right hand, and I punctured the demon's heart, not looking at it.
"Well done Dyne, no the demon Dynestar, no, Dyestral sounds better, you just came back to your past,"
I looked at the demon to see that it changed his appearance to my father. The demon's face started to melt; we were also back in the darkroom.
"Well done Dynestar, or should I say Dyestral Blutrot, Krayme never put in your demon name, Jododam did."
The look of despair I had on my face started to change. It was from an emotionless face to a smile, then to laugh, and then a cackle. My eyes widened, as I looked at my melting father, shouting in excitement, the same feeling when I killed the torturer.
"So what I killed my father twice, it means nothing, I'm probably a vampire now, I am one of the strongest beings and a starstrider!" I yelled at him, but that last word was new to me, I'm not sure why I even said it.
"You have come to yourself, well done; we will meet again,"
"So what? I'll gouge out your eyes and destroy you, no matter what form you take," I calmed down. "But demon of blue flames, you have my gratitude for helping me this far in my journey,"
"I'll see to that, but for now farewell,"
I closed my eyes and was engulfed in blue flames, waking up on the floor of Jododam's library. I saw Jododam reading a book, turning over and looking at me, smiling.
"Well done surviving Dyestral Copper, or should I say, Dyestral Blutrot,"
I stoop up, and opened my mouth, already feeling the fangs which had grown. My body had grown in more ways than one, and so did my soul. As I walked up to Jododam, a question came out of my mouth.
"A starstrider, a word I learned withing that nightmare, what is it?"

Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
