《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 20 - Day and Night

I stood there for a moment, dazed of where I was. I realized that I couldn't go to sleep anymore, because I would just go to the alternate world, not the worst thing, but a problem for my sanity. Running out of the cave and into the garden towards where the cabins are located, I looked inside one and saw it was empty, so I went inside.
Not even taking off my clothes, I laid on the bed. I waited for what seemed like a millennium. I opened my eyes to see that I was in my blue hammock again. Leaning out of my bunk, I noticed that someone had left me some dark blue sandals and a set of clothes underneath. I slipped on the shoes and a very torn up vest to cover myself.
I ran outside the tent and began to look around, trying to find my group or rather Krayme. As I looked around for a few minutes, I saw Abatson walking around. I dashed towards him and stopped, he turned his head and stopped, looking confused.
"Hey Dynestar, why are you in such a rush?" Abatson questioned me.
"I've figured out my soul ability," I panted.
"That's great to hear! What is it? Is it powerful, or unique like the rest of you?"
"I can go between Antrite and Antral without a demon gate,"
"Well uh, that's unique,"
"It is, but I can't control it, it only happens when I go to sleep, not to mention my other body is left alone,"
"What will that do in the battle?"
"I haven't got a clue, but if I can control it, it will help me in battle,"
"True, but what will the other's think of your newly found ability?"
"Why don't we find them and see their reaction?"
Abatson joined me around the camp, searching for the others. During our time together, he told me about the different tents and what they were used for, some were ghoul sleeping tent's while others were kitchens. After a while of searching, we saw a familiar pair of wings on a small cliff. Abatson and I looked at each other then started to climb the cliff.

As I struggled climbing, I saw that Abatson was jumping from rock to rock with ease. Getting annoyed with me, I bit my thumb and sacrificed some blood to increase my strength. After I pressed my thumb against my forehead, I could feel my power growing. I then started to climb the cliff at exponential speed, as well as using my other abilities, like my elf eyes to see the best rock and my tail to jump even higher.
As I reached the top, I saw that Abatson and Xirax were already talking. As they turned their heads towards me, I saw Xirax's face turn into a massive grin. She immediately flew towards me and hugged me, twirling me around.
"Oh Dynestar, that's great to hear that you have a soul ability!" Xirax exclaimed.
"I know, it seems that Abaston has already filled you in, but have you seen Lucyfer or Astaroth anywhere?" I replied.
"I did see them start to talk with Krayme; then they went into his tent,"
"Where is that?"
"It's the large crimson tent, right next to our's on the left,"
"Thanks for the information."
I then cancelled my sacrifice and jumped down the cliff, stepping on rocks as I fell. As I felt the ground again, I focused my air source into my legs and dashed right to the tent.
As I closed the distance at an exponential rate, I noticed that too scrawny guards with black armour were standing there. Looking at them closely, they were probably first rank ghouls. As I was about fifty metres away, I summoned my incarnate weapon, which then randomized to two throwing knives, it was just my luck.
They finally noticed me and pointed their spears towards me.
"Put your weapons down and back away, the people here are having an important meeting!" One of the guards yelled.
I didn't say anything, but instead, I activated my elf eyes, trying to see the best option. As I observed their armour, I spotted a small dislocation in both their shoulder joints. I then focused my source into my knives and threw them, hitting them both in the joints.

I then focused on my blood ice ability, hoping that it wasn't gone. I looked at the guards to see that their shoulder had frozen over. I smirked while stopping while focusing on my ability. I closed my eyes and imagined two gate's, as I was focusing my source into them. When I opened my eyes, I saw that both the ghoul's arms were covered in shards of red ice.
I ran towards the guards and hit their arms, which caused them to shatter into shards of red ice. Opening the curtains, I saw that Astaroth, Lucyfer and Krayme were discussing something.
"Ah Dynestar, we were just talking about you," Krayme said in a calm tone.
"Good, because I figured out my soul ability," I panted.
"Well, what is it?" Krayme, Astaroth and Lucyfer asked me.
"I can go between Antrite and Antral, without a demon gate, but I can only do it when I sleep at the moment,"
"So, you can go between worlds without using a portal, but only when you fall asleep?" Lucyfer finalized.
"Exactly,"
"That's great; we were filling out your group forms, now since we have that, you are now a fully-fledged rank one demon,"
"I still don't believe that Dyestral is still so weak, even I can beat him without a scratch, " Astaroth yelled.
"Well, by all the statistics, Dyestral is considered a first rank demon, remember strength isn't the only thing that makes a demon powerful," Krayme calmly replied.
"Tch, suit yourself,"
Astaroth then purposefully knocked my shoulder before leaving the tent. I expected that he was going to sulk in his hammock. After some time, Abatson and Xirax entered the shelter and were shocked to see that I was in one piece.
"Well, this sure is a rare exception," Abatson exclaimed at me.
"Lucky me," I replied with a smile.
"Hmmm, but this can't be excused, Dynestar, your body will be present in the camp, and you will go to Antrite," Krayme then coughed at me.
"So, your grounding my body, all I have to do is go to sleep, and I can escape to Antrite," I told Krayme.
"Yes, but you will be doing a group exercise, during our night time, your team will go through a demon gate, and you will meet them there,"
"So, you're making me go on a mission due to me awakening my soul ability?"
"Correct,"
"Well, I think that's a suitable punishment. Lucyfer, Xirax, and Abatson, I'll see you in Antrite,"
"Ok," Cheered Xirax.
"Well, see you there," Abatson grinned.
"Tch, you better not pretend sleep!" Lucyfer yelled at me.
"I won't," I replied
I left the tent and made my way towards mine. Peeking through the curtains of my tent, I saw that Astaroth was holding some food in his mouth. I ignored it and laid down on my hammock, wondering about something before I went to sleep.
"What are you doing, Dynestar?" Astaroth questioned me.
"We have a team-building exercise in Antrite, I'll be meeting you there, and I wonder," I replied.
"Wonder what?"
"You'll see in a moment,"
I then bit my thumb and but it towards my head, wishing that I would go to sleep. After a second of putting my thumb on my head, I fell asleep and woke up in the cabin I was in. While opening the door, I saw that the sun was already rising over the horizon. Very quietly, I snuck out into the sports field and waited.
"Well well well, what have we here, one of my subjects has found a demon gate," A familiar voice said from behind me.
I looked behind me, and I was shocked by who was there. Jododam was behind me, with a face of calm rage.

Naruto Retsuden: Toru
[SI/OC Third Shinobi War]Well fought and well done. All of us fight as one. It took me three years to be able to properly read the faded out kanji of the flimsy poster that I keep in my back pocket. The illustration is colourful, bright reds and yellows. Colours that would definitely catch the attention of a child. The poster was carefully placed along the walls and fences of my village, level with the height of a four year old. I thought enlisting to become a Shinobi was a heroic deed, something I needed to do to save my family from poverty and to serve my country at the cusp of war. Then I graduated early to be deployed to the front lines.I am sadly and sorely mistaken. Warnings:Slow-burnNO OP-NESSRomance? What romance? It'll take at least 40 chapters or more before anything romantic happens.Realistic depictions of War from a child's perspectiveBlood and goreChild SoldiersPTSDRealistic character developmentTragedy.
