《Bounty Cats》Book Two: Chapter 5

“What the hell happened!?” Commissioner Fiona shouted behind her desk, nearly shook it by her loud voice tone.
Rei shivered. This was the first time she heard the commissioner yelled at her like a psychopath. She was super angry.
"Sorry, Fiona." Luna knocked on Rei's forehead. "It's her fault."
"Hey! No, it wasn't!" Rei rubbed her head. "Gongjeonghaji anhseubnida!"
Fiona shook her head. "It doesn't matter. Both of you screwed up. Your task was supposed to be simple."
Luna threw her hands up. "It would have been if Jude's enemies didn't find him. But we killed them all!"
Fiona crossed her arms. "Then who killed him?"
"We don't know. He was all over the place." Luna glared at Rei. "And if she didn't leave him there, he wouldn't be dead!"
"Stop bullying me!" Rei cried. "It was the only place I could hide him at!"
Luna raised her left eyebrow. "What about the private booth?"
“That would be the first place where they would find him!”
Luna raised her fist up. “Maybe I should knock some more damn sense into you-”
“Enough!” Fiona rubbed her furrow. “It is too late now….. But I’m sure Rally and Benny can find the rest of Jude’s operation. For now, there are no other bounties available. You just have to live on what you got.”
“Thanks a lot!” Luna rose and stomped toward the door. “I’m out of here!”
“Wait up!” Rei caught up to Lune through the door. “Can we-”
Luna swung her finger toward Rei, pointing her claw close to Rei’s chin. “I need a break from you too! It’s your fault for losing our bounty!”
Rei felt her stomach curled. “But Luna….. I told you it wasn’t my fault! I didn’t know someone sneaked into the restroom to massacre him. Nobody ran past me, and there were no windows in the restroom! He could have killed himself.”

“How? By stuffing himself down the toilet?”
“I meant-”
Luna growled and walked away. “I don’t care! Just leave me alone before I kick your ass!”
Rei held out her hand. “Luna…..”
Her heart sunk as she watched her partner leave the office through the elevator. She couldn’t understand why her partner had to be so mean to her now. Sure, they lost one bounty, but it wasn’t like they lost a baby to a horrifying death. And they could still save their money for food and rent until next month. Luna acted like she was overreacting unless she was late for her bills.
“Hey, Rei.” Rally Hunter, a German shepherd in a black leather jacket, approached her while waving his hand. “You’re looking gloomy today.”
Rei glanced at him with a little smirk. “Yeah…..”
“Is there a problem?”
Rei crossed her arms and sighed. “Luna is blaming me for losing our bounty. Just one bounty! What’s up with that?”
Rally smiled as he fixed his sunglasses. "I can tell you if you go out for a drink with me. I know a place that sells non-alcoholic beverages."
"Sure!" Although Rei didn't trust Rally since their first meeting was….. Awkward. But a nice drink should help her overcome her failure. Hopefully, Rally has enough bitcoins to pay for her. She needs to stay on a budget until she can find the next bounty with a better reward.
