《Bounty Cats》Book One: Chapter 23

Luna and Rei rose off the interceptor's hood when they spotted the MCPA hover copter approaching the sewer canal. The aircraft with two thrusters and a tail wing slowly landed into the center of the canal. It blew away the water without splashing it toward the catgirls. Rei surely didn't want a bath in the gutter.
After the craft landed, the back door ramp opened and touched the ground. Four pit bull cop soldiers in heavy armor suits raced down the ramp, carrying large laser rifles. Those big dogs weren't the type to mess with.
Before them, Commissioner Fiona walked down the ramp and looked around as her guards watched the perimeter.
With a grin, Luna strolled toward her while carrying a plastic bag. Rei followed her while keeping her eyes off the bag.
Fiona glanced at Luna and crossed her arms. "Did you get him?"
Luna held up the bag, revealing Baby Shark's head, floating in blood. "Want shark soup for dinner?"
Rei covered her mouth, feeling her stomach rushing up toward her throat. No dinner for her tonight.
Fiona took the bag and stared closely at the corpse's face. "Finally, we got the son of a bitch. But his family will be pissed when they hear about this."
Luna laughed. "If they do, let them come. More money for us. Right, kitty?"
Rei nodded. Her stomach slowly settled down.
Fiona smiled. "I'm proud of you girls. I will transfer your reward tonight."
Rei raised her fists, cheering. "Ye ye ye!"
She could finally check out the shopping mall and grab some decent food. Maybe go to a nightclub to experience the wild side of the city. Of course, she was at the go-go dancer club, but this time she won't be dancing on a dirty man's lap.

Luna scratched her nose. "Any other assignments?"
"Already?" Fiona asked.
Rei widened her eyes too. She thought she could finally take a break to enjoy her reward.
Luna stretched her arms out. "I won't let another competition take away my next prey. Baby Shark taught me that."
Fiona shrugged. "I do have one bounty, but he is a tricky fellow."
"I can handle tricky. Just give us what you know."
Fiona pursed her lips as she pulled out a black card. "We don't know his real name or his background. But he goes by the name, Cheshire Cat."
Luna took the card and stared at it. Rei stared at it over Luna's shoulder.
The card has two large cat eyes and a wide creepy smile, glowing in neon green. An odd-looking calling card.
"What is he wanted for?" Rei asked.
"Homicide, kidnapping, torture, terrorism, robbery, trafficking, but his most common trait is hacking," Fiona explained. "Every time he commits a crime, he leaves those cards behind, sometimes with a riddle or puzzle. But nobody has ever seen the creep in the city. It's like he is a ghost, playing games with us. If he is around here, no one is safe."
Luna handed the card back to the commissioner. "We will keep an eye out if we find leads to his whereabouts."
"I still suggest you girls should take a break until then. I'm sure no one else can find him too."
"We'll see."
Fiona nodded and walked back into the aircraft while carrying the bag. Her soldiers rushed in next.
Luna approached her car and opened the door. "Want a lift home?"
Rei quickly ran toward the passenger side and opened it. "Sure! Jegil! I need to buy my own car!"

"You will lose your entire paycheck if you do. I can always give you a lift."
"Cool!" After Rei sat inside, Luna closed her door and activated her engine.
The interceptor lifted off and blasted toward the sky.
Rei glanced at Luna. "You took a good shot back there."
Luna smiled. "Thank you."
"How did you know when to fire?"
Luna turned her yoke. "I got the dumbass monologuing, which I didn't care about. When the fool runs his mouth, he usually loses focus on his weapon. I took the shot when the time was right."
"Meos-issneun! But you kept shooting him when he was already dead."
Luna shrugged. "I had to make sure he is dead. Some mother f**kers can come back to life with special bionic parts in their bodies. You should do the same when you kill a target."
Rei doubted that. She wasn't a crazy killer like Luna, but her partner saved her life. "I will do my best next time, and I thank you for saving my skin."
Luna grinned while keeping her eyes on the air traffic. "You still have a long way to go, kitty. There will be more scumbags out there, who will be tougher than you. Are you still up to this?"
Rei glared. “I am not giving up this job yet.”
Luna giggled. “You really are a stubborn kitty.”
Rei giggled too and watched the city as Luna’s car flew past the towering skyscrapers. Moreau City was now her new home.

The Navigator
I'm a navigator. This essentially means it's my job to ferry goods and/or people from point A to point B. I know, shocking, but here's the thing. I don't navigate the seas or stars. Hell, I don't even have a ship, craft, vessel or vehicle of any description. 'What is it you navigate, then?' you may ask. The chaotic nonsensical void between neighboring realities. That's what. Economicalopoly
Humanity had gotten this far. How far, might you be wondering? Quite far indeed. The world had effectively become an ecumenopolis, almost; not in real life at least, in Economicalopoly of course! More on that later, in our story the main character is Charlie. Charlie was an exceptionally talented young man, the key word being 'was'. He was an incredibly unmotivated individual who generally steered clear from other 'Homo sapiens' as he put it. This was all because of an accident he had early on in life, when he was but 15 years old.
