《RE: Wisp of the Elves》Chapter 6 - Sort of a Curse

Nidius passed the test of being a mage apprentice at the age of 8, got his official badge of being a mage at the age of 17, and had his own mage tower at the age of 26.
This counts as being extremely accomplished.
And so it was no wonder to the guards that a previously unseen woman - obviously, also a mage, as they could see her potent staff - was leaving his tower.
They even saw that shimmering creature in her grasp, by many guessing it to be a wisp, which was given to Nidius as a wedding gift few weeks ago.
“Mage Nidius asked me to conduct with him a communications experiment, since he can semingly project a voice through this creature.”
It was my time to speak now.
“Leon, Ajax, it is like she said. Let her through and then back in the morning. The second experiment may need your presence, but I will tell you later about that.”
And it worked.
Nidius has no wards against spawning a dungeon minion in his chambers, or to alert of their presence; he has no defense against mages leaving his tower and he got guards which are accustomed to obey him without any questions.
And so we left with Nina, my newest and only priest, by talking our way out.
Back then I also spawned her outside of the white room, which allowed her to get me out of there.
I imagine that the guards would tell Nidius about this really only in the morning, but he would also come to wonder about much more significant things at that time.
How come someone came into my mage tower without me knowing? What is the purpose of this? They could take a lot of others valuables - is this a warning by someone? By description, that magician is not known, yet she is accomplished enough to manage all this - which organization is she from?

And those should stop him in his tracks.
So we left the city just like that and went to a nearby forest.
One reason was so I could get points, ensuring also our safety that way. The second was that I had no idea how to get to the village from here.
Nina, even though being a priest, inherited all the agility needed as an elf, for sure, which proved awesome in avoiding monsters, and not drawing much attention to ourselves.
As for me, she was able to cast a temporary spell, lasting 30 seconds, which took care of things on my part.
I fully remember the undead apparition flying into the ground, and while it is probably the most efficient course of action, I am incapable of having more than half of my being ‘stuck’ in something, even the ground itself.
Plus I can’t fly higher than a few feet - unless I harvest energy from a certain source.
We were camping for 4 days like that, constantly moving away from the city.
And then I created my fifth elf.
You spawned the dungeon minion Name: Aigos Sex: Male
He also got born with , as Aimon achieved it till this time.
And I got to see for the first time in my life a , estimating it’s overall around 50% better than its more common version.
Now, we got a little adventurer party.
It’s just that my role got… I am fated to be a decoration lighting somehow, I must be!
Aargh!
We struck the I bought in half, put them on top of each other in different directions, and then put a hoodless around the whole thing, creating with me inside a lampion.
Every adventurer’s party got a name, and the less members one has, the more terrifying its name must be for it to be taken seriously.

That’s my theory, at least.
And so when I got a party of two elves, each hiding their ears and face under their hood, and one of them holding a suspicious lampion, I managed to think only of one name.
The Ghostbusters.
And as it implied, we are world-renown specialists in dealing with ghosts, or certain vague silhouettes of ghosts in a certain field we are searching for, which is nearby a certain village.
To simplify it, as every big-shot out there, we got a mission, but have no clue about the directions.
It helps that our equipment is also being seen as a rather good.
“Hi. Me and Nina are searching for a field of ghosts. It should be in a village nearby… the mayor’s name is George I was told.”
“Oh... you mean the . Well, on the west here, you have this , right… it’s in that direction, as you are probably aware. So now you must go that way. But be cautious - there are a lot of poisonous frogs on the way there.”
I didn’t expect to meet a former Lineage 2 player here. That game is real old by now, and they messed it up so much you can’t even enjoy it properly.
Could it be someone reincarnated here, as I did, and named those places like that?
Anyway, we left as we were told, and it was not long before we got to the village. There were some frogs on the way, indeed, but they were disposed of by Aigos fast, or in few other cases Nina managed to stop the poison.
And from the village - which we circled around - I already knew the directions.
I also knew that one thing I am looking forward for some time now.
And that is, .
You see, back in my newborn days, I got this option to have wisps as my race.
And they were described as being , but you see none of that when looking at me. No, I am seemingly your forever-level-one wisp.
And I think I figured out the reason.
It’s because I am draining dungeon points from the things, instead of using my wisp ability properly, draining mana.
I had this ‘inspiring moment of revelation’ about it during my captivity in that mage tower. He was always wondering why I am not a proper wisp, and at one time even started to think that I got some sort of curse impeding my growth.
Yeah.
It’s sort of a curse, really.
When you get so concentrated on some things (“My elves, woohoo!”) that you forget to think in the right perspective.
And so here I am, facing my opponent.
He got no legs.
No eyes.
No apparent combat skills to speak of.
So we may be just about even in some ways.
*Zzzt*
You drained 6 mana from , destroying it. You got 6 experience from using your ability.
Huhuhu.

Nobody knows where the books come from but DAMN, THOSE THINGS ARE CUTE. And for some reason, once it had sealed something in it, a complete care manual is magically written... But why? Because, plot! I dont really care about my readers so I'm pasting this unedited. Well, have fun eating my shit~! I colored the illustration on my cover but the drawing was picked up by OutOfThis. I LOVE YOU, WEEEEIII!!! I WOULD LOVE IF YOU LAY MY EGGS FOR ME! And who is this Wei? Some person from Inked. Ah, don't get triggered on this novel because besides from posting them unedited, I did the chapters in 30 mins! I spend the other 30 min being distracted as I write author's notes. This series also parodies many things, mainly Pokémon and has tentacle rape undertones, viewer discretion is adviced...

Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz

System Only Gives Me Useless Gifts
Li Yun grew up with a system that gave him useless gifts. He wanted a reward that could prove the existence of the system, but ended up with abstract gifts like culture. Without physical proof, he was stuck wondering whether his mind was truly sane, all the while dealing with the reality of life. How will the "useless" system help Li Yun navigate medical school, hospital politics, criminal cases, treasure hunting, farming and cooking? Author's Note: This is a slice-of-life novel about a doctor with a mission-type system. It's written as a faux modern Chinese novel, so there are many 1-off characters and episodic mini arcs. Just a bit of warning, the tone of the story is very different after the childhood arc and jumpy as it chronicles Li Yun's life. I'm trying to make it less apparent in the rewrite, but there are still a lot of time skips. RR is the rewrite version, no set schedule. See webnovel for OG. scribblehub is a combo of both . I recommend scribblehub since it has pictures. Copyrights of the novel and cover are owned by Chocomug. Novel is free to read and download for personal use, such as offline reading, only.
