Anaga's POV:
This situation is insane. I don't know what's happening and how but I've never ever felt this much mana close to me before and now my whole body was surrounded by super-ultra-strong defensive spells that I never thought even existed. This... second Alexander, maybe his twin brother, was murmuring what sort of charms he was putting on me and hearing it made me have goosebumps. Soul, Body, Physical, Mental, Essence, Space, Antimatter Protection and more, what is up with all that?! And the amount of magic poured into each and every formation was mind-blowing and completely unbelievable! I didn't think there even existed this much mana on Earth and now I'm covered in all of it at once! This sort of strength... shouldn't be possible to achieve! Even one of these spells might just equal to the amount of magic I felt the supposedly strongest wizard, sir Grekkil, possesses altogether! I once had a chance encounter with him in a restaurant and never forgot the feeling of suppression caused by his leaking mana. But here, with this young boy who had just started to mature, I didn't feel anything until he released his spells! Even now, while both of them were enjoying themselves on a break, I could notice no indication of their true strength hidden in those lean bodies of theirs.
The next moment I became extremely startled by a loud shout that seemed as if rehearsed beforehand made by both of them at the same time:
-A whale swimming in space?! Cool!!
-A whale swimming in space?! Cool!!
Wait, what? What's that all about? What whale? What the heck is that all about?! Did they go insane all of a sudden?! I mean even more than before?!!
Alex(original) and Alex(from another world) together POV:
It's huge! It's coming straight towards this planet! It has a wide, oval shape with a long, wide tail at the end moving up and down as the enormous creature somehow swam in space as if it was an ocean. The alien animal had a size of about 1/4 of the Earth and if it collided with it, the damage would destroy it completely!

I suddenly looked at the other Alex and he did the same thing. After which we both shouted:
-I will deal with it!
-I will deal with it!
-No, I will!
-No, I will!
-Be reasonable!
-Be reasonable!
-I am and I want to fight it!!
-I am and I want to fight it!
-I know but a chance like this might come only once in our lifetimes!
-I know but a chance like this might come only once in our lifetimes!
Black's POV:
The deciding words were spoken by only one person and it wasn't me:
-Remember this isn't your world, Alexander Thorn'rose!
...he's right. I came here for only one reason and I can't interfere in such a grand spectacle. It would change the future events too much and might anger the world's consciousness if me, 'the intruder to her peaceful world', were to try changing things around here too much, old lady Earth might feel obliged to retaliate. And both of us don't want that to happen. I guess I got so visibly dispirited that my other self wanted to cheer me up:
-Don't worry buddy, if it happens here then the whale will appear in your own world as well! Let me deal with this one!
Why didn't I think of that? Aren't we the same person?
...I guess I got so depressed over not having some fun that I stopped thinking logically... Well, I have my bad moments too. I am still just a simple human being with his ups and downs... Though many people might say that I am not 'simple' at all. And many did, just that the little time device I made made sure that never actually happened. It was real only for me. Still... it kind of hurt my feelings anyway. Why would they call me a monster? Or a freak? A walking disaster? A hero or 'The Saviour'?

I'm not a beast in any way. Those are animalistic and only listen to their instincts.
... Ok, I do listen to my instincts often but that is because they help me anticipate danger and using spells with a highly sensitive instincts is at least 600% easier. Like seriously. Why would anyone not use it? It's a part of who you are, a vital part I would say. And how would I ever know how and when to enter the middle of my essence with all those lightning bolts flying around and the entrance opening and closing at random intervals of time?
A freak is someone who is crazy and belongs in the mental ward. I'm not insane and I don't bite people or whatever freaks do. Run around the streets naked? Never happend to me. So I'm safe.
A walking disaster? Me? I always make sure everything I do is perfectly safe. Uhmm... ok. Almost always. But I'm not an idiot, I don't make mistakes that easily! Come on people, give me a break! I know a literal ton of people who are way more clumsy than me and deserve this title way more than me! If they had the kind of power I have, this world wouldn't exist anymore. For sure. Like seriously, all that would be left is some debris floating through space or more likely just some fine powder?
But because I'm the one who is strong, nothing bad is happening. Even now, some weird whale-alien in space is attacking this planet and who would protect this place if I wasn't here?
...or Blue. It is his world after all, not mine. I'm just a visitor here.
Right, next. Let's not get distracted. Me, a hero?
... I might have saved Earth a few times already but even more times I could have destroyed it. I didn't though and I'm not planning to. And I hardly care so much about people to go out of my way and save everyone all the time. Nah. That's not me. And that's when we go to the title 'The Saviour'. Not 'a' but 'the'. Like I'm the only one out there that saves some people from death and misery. No thanks, I don't need such a troublesome title. If people knew me by that name, they would all expect to be saved. From everything. Poverty mostly, health issues, certain death or injuries and other stuff. I'm no Saint though. Go to work, find a doctor or some brave knight who will fight for you. Not me, na-ah. Me don't care.
Blue's POV:
I could see that Black was lost in thought so I didn't bother him anymore and I jumped, instantly activating 'Soar', an improved version of a simple spell like 'Fly', only known by me. The latter makes you move in the air in only 4 directions:up, down, left and right, as well as spin around in one place which is considered impractical, especially in case of a fight. That's why matches of mages are mostly fought on the ground. The former - 'Sour' charm can do anything - lets you fly in a spiral if you want to and the speed is also unlimited. 'Fly' would be way too dangerous in high speeds with its maneuverability.
Alrighty then. Time to go meet the Whale!

WARNING: THIS STORY HAS A SLOW START. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We all grew up hearing stories about heroes and villains, but what would we do if we were to be part of one? One night, a bioweapon escaped from its laboratory in Zalcien, only to die in a dark alley. One night, a young man lent a helping hand, only to die alone in the dark. One night, a deity of death saw two lost souls and offered one a second chance in the other's body. Now a strange creature made of darkness, James has to deal with his new form in a strange new world where superpowers, heroes and villains are commonplace, far away from his home. Watch as he learns how to use his powers, as he meets allies and enemies and how, when facing the paths of heroism and villainy, he chooses a third way somewhere in between. Follow the story of James, a lost Earthling soul, as he becomes Silhouette, the mysterious power in the shadows. Greetings fellow humans. This is my first story on Royal Road and my first long-term project written in English, so I do hope you will have some mercy in your heart when reading. So, as you may have understood, this is a story with super-heroes - which is quite ironic for my first story considering all of the other ones planned are fantasy - and as such will take place in a modern-like setting. Despite dark themes and gory scenes making their way into the story, it is still a super-hero world with the logic that matches, so expect characters to survive nuclear explosions without a scratch and yet to get defeated by a rubber ducky - as well as similar dark humor, thus the comedy part.
8 351The Good Crash: An Oral History of the Post-Scarcity Collapse
"Don't we all feel, deep down, that we deserve the apocalypse?" APRIL, 2028—Global capitalism has collapsed. America has sealed itself off from the outside world, and inside its borders, a revolution rages. All it took was one incredible little machine. That machine turned into two, then four, then eight... like a virus, the replicators spread. As a work of oral history, The Good Crash features over 50 interviews with key witnesses to the events of 2027. The text is rendered in the words used by the interviewees themselves, with light editing for clarity and concision. As such, the book contains language and themes that are not appropriate for children.By capturing the voices to the people at the very root of the revolution, journalist and historian R. Vondersnitch has traced the origins and aftermath of the replicators' rapid spread. Crucially, the book also includes perspectives and testimony from those who attempted to stop the spread of the reps. "Some of these are heroes, too, in their own ways," the author writes in the book's introductory note.

The way to get status points were based on the way in Unlimited Power - The Arcane Path. Note: I'm only borrowing the way to get status points as I thought it was cool. I am an amateur author and am writing this as a cool hobby to get me through quarantine. If you see any grammar mistakes or anything, please let me know. Criticism is accepted, but don't use that as an excuse to just hate the book. If you don't like the book, tell me why so I can improve upon it. Cheers! Schedule: 1 chap a day
