《Mother Dryad & Father Dragon》Chapter 8

[Welcome Methuselah, the Hereafter would you like view your status Y/N]
I ignore my parents' pestering and try to reach out and touch the glowing screen with my hand. It doesn’t work and my hand only fazes through the screen. Sulking I came up with another solution to the problem. What about mentally if I can't physically touch it? The screen brightens as I concentrate hard on my choice.
[You chose yes, Methuselah, and the Level System that follows is yours]
Name: Methuselah, the Hereafter
Blessing: Demon God of Unity
Level: 1
HP: 25/25
Mana: 50/50
Estimated Attack Power: 2
Speed: 3
Skills: Little Helper, Vine Control, Flight, Nature’s Calling, Health Monitor, Baby Booster, Blessed Seeker
[Would you like to ask any questions Y/N?]
I'm taken aback by how skilled I am, so I don't respond right away. Looking at my skills I ask the screen to give me a summary of them.
[Here is the summary]
Little Helper Lvl ***-
Little Helper is here to assist you if you have any questions about certain materials or items around you. You should worship Little Helper hint hint.
Vine Control Lvl 0-
Control the vines that have become a part of you because you are bald you have nothing to control.
Flight Lvl 0-
With your wings on your back...wait, you don't have any wings yet. But even if you did, you'd only be able to float like a centimeter.
Nature Calling Lvl ***-
I can’t tell you what this is really about or how to use it but it will be helpful in the future.
Health Monitor Lvl ***-
You can see the HP, Estimated Attack Power, Mana, and Speed.
Baby Booster Lvl ***-
Every new year, you automatically gain an extra level. Personally, I believe you are spoiled, but the creator intends for you to have it.

Blessed Seeker Lvl ***-
You're not the only one blessed by a Demon God, you were just given the task of finding them. So not only do you have to save this world but you also have to find these blessed ones.
[Do you have any other questions Y/N?]
Why does this Little Helper have such an attitude built towards me. It’s supposed to be helping me not dissing me! No wonder my estimated strength is just two with all these level zero skills. But why is it estimated strength anyway?
[Because I can't tell someone's true strength, it's called estimated strength. Like the biblical story of David and Golieth in your world. Despite the fact that Goliath is far more powerful than David in every way, David still triumphed. It says “estimated” for I'm unable to access items, intelligence, and sheer willpower. I give a rough estimate based solely on muscle strength and abilities]
So you're saying that if someone has less strength than me, they can kill me with a weapon or their brains?
[Yes, but keep in mind the importance of willpower. You could kill someone thousands of times your strength if you had a powerful weapon or enough intelligence.]
Does this mean I have to be cautious of everything I see? Who knows, maybe one day I'll meet a slime with a nuclear weapon!
[That could happen]
You stupid assistant, I didn't even ask a question! At the very least, this encourages me to train and study more. Even if I am the strongest, the smartest person could still defeat me. A chill runs through me as I look at my father and mother. I’m going to die from over exhaustion with their training.

Cheep!?
Charles Monroe survived the disappearance of his parents, did his best to hold things together for himself and his sister. He survived when she, too, vanished, leaving behind nothing but a cryptic note. He was devastated, but he kept moving forward as best he could. Cancer didn’t put him down, and after suffering through several rounds of chemotherapy, Charles Monroe thought that things might finally be looking up. That is, until a virulent strain of ebola swept through the city. With his immune system strained as it is, the odds don’t look good for Charles. Now, on the bridge between life and death, he hears a voice claiming to know where his family went. It claims that it needs his help and that it can give him a second life, one far away from all the pain he’s ever known. So, Charles answers as any reasonable person would. He says no. Charles isn't ready or willing to die yet. But, as with everything else to this point, even his choice to keep fighting is taken from him all too soon. With no other option but the dark oblivion of death, Charles chooses to make a deal with the spirit of a distant world that's seeking a wild card in its battle against the gods, monsters, and mortals that threaten its existence. Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
