The road rippled out in front of Lance, a winding ribbon with shimmering heatwaves rising from it. His car was a fortunate length, ruining the Sine's attempt at mischief as the wheelbase actually matched the sinusoidal period of rippled road, and the ripples were not big enough to ground the frame. These two mistakes resulted in a far less jolting experience than the Sine had hoped. The ripples faded back to flat.

A high pitched sigh was nearly drowned out by the engine noise.

"That didn't put the fun in function!"

It seems that even mathemagical creatures have some difficulty with calculations when they get carried away. This Sine lost its trouble designation, and became the first Sine of Failure.
