《The Angle of Death and other Mathemagical Hazards》First Sine of Trouble

Plavi was having a rough day. No matter what he did, everything came out .... mediocre. Getting out of bed, he didn't notice the first Sine of Trouble. His teeth felt like a third of them had been brushed some well, some just ok, and the other third were growing pelts of various fuzzy lengths. There was an odd pattern to it, a clumping centered around the best tooth and the worst. His body felt much the same. On average, he was due for a shower, but some spots just felt more clean, and others less. It wasn't even by where on the body. One armpit was putting out massive BO, and the other smelled like he'd just washed. Both eyes were gummy, but both nostrils were unusually clear.

Grumbling to himself, Plavi walked into the bathroom and started the shower. He grabbed a swig of mouthwash to try to clean out the odd feeling in his mouth as he blearily peered at his reflection. To his surprise, there were something like very faint stripes on his face, evenly spaced. He sprayed some of the mouthwash on the mirror in shock, but managed to keep swishing most of the rest for the recommended 30 second rinse, then spat it into the sink.

Grabbing up a hand towel he wiped at the mirror, clearing the spit and mouthwash from it, but leaving the mirror with some faint streaks.

A soprano impish giggle startles him, but fortunately the mouthwash hazard has been dealt with, so no further spew arcs from his mouth.

"What the…." Plavi looks around, then shakes his head. "I must not be fully awake, need to hit the shower."

Suiting action to words, he entered the shower, where, on average, he got soaked. The water felt very odd, instead of merely running down his body, it was actually flowing in standing waves, crests and troughs rippling as the water flowed through them, but the peaks and valleys stayed in the same places.

"I'm clearly dreaming." Finishing up his shower, he turned off the water and dripped dry for a few moments, before grabbing his towel and vigorously wiping himself down. The water formed dark bands of nearly dripping sodden areas interspersed with completely dry lighter areas.

"Clearly." The giggling resumed. Plavi ignored it, whispering to himself quietly. "Just an odd dream."

The giggling faded away as Plavi brushed his teeth.

A childish voice carried over the humming buzz of his electric toothbrush. "That was fun but he's kinda boring, who's next?"

The mirror was splattered with toothpaste, as Plavi recovered from his brush with the first Sine of Trouble.
