Spells and other projectiles were flying around. I pointed my staff towards a portion of a battlefield with only enemies. Mana moved in my body through my arms into a staff. A thick beam erupted from my staff, moving through the battlefield as I kept moving my staff. Beam passed through the regular infantry tearing them and evaporating them in the intense heat. Crusader attempted to block a beam when it approached him. A beam met with his sword before moving to the next target. Crusader survived with a portion of his body covered in rotting burns. After a few seconds, my arms started to feel weak, and my mana storage decreased by a significant chunk, so I stopped.

'Why is a system rewarding me more for mass slaughter than for a fight against one strong enemy? It feels kinda wrong. Anyway, I think this is a good time to spend my reserves of death energy.'
My beam attracted the attention of enemies to me. A bunch of fireballs and crossbow bolts flew on. My barrier was depleted, so I rather jumped out of their trajectory. To finally level up my Pyromancy, I summoned a tree purple explosive spheres of fire and charged. They quickly grew in size as I pumped more mana into them. Then I released them, and they flew at an incredible speed towards enemies, leaving a purple trail behind them. Three explosions shook a battlefield as charred limbs were dispersed through the battlefield. More projectiles came on me, but I dodged again.

Suddenly, massive pressure fell on me. My body felt much heavier, and instinctual fear flooded my mind. I breathed in relief when I spotted that it was a great amount of magical energy and blood collecting in the centre of the circle created by nine hooded figures.
'It looks like their plan worked. Without a paladin, there is no one strong enough to stop a ritual in time.'
Red lines appeared in the air and started to form weird shapes filled with blazing red runes. The attention of a whole battlefield changed towards that as a bunch of crusaders started to push towards it. Their glowing swords releasing shockwaves kept cleaving through the hordes of undead and occasional robed figures.
Runes started to glow even more before a massive pillar of red energy came out of the ground under enemies formations. Dozens of soldiers perished in seconds, as these were sucked into a red pillar before getting disintegrated. Pillar only grew stronger as it absorbed blood and magic from its victims. Its diameter kept growing every second, absorbing more and more enemies into itself.
Soldiers kept pushing each other to get away from it as quickly as possible, but it was impossible in the enclosed square and their tight ranks. More and more soldiers were flying towards the pillar of energy, empowering it even more. Some soldiers even began to attack their allies to get away from it, as utter chaos filled the battlefield.
Wanting to finally level up my Pyromancy I summoned more [Deathflame Firebombs] and launched them into the chaos. Three explosions of purple flames appeared on the battlefield. But I didn't stop as I cast another valley and another after that. Blazing fireballs kept flying towards the crowd of enemies as they kept getting destroyed by the blood magic.

Suddenly horrible pain hit me as I looked at my chest with the blade sticking out of it. Someone pulls the blade back and kicks me from behind me. I roll on the roof, coughing out blood. Man in plate armour walks towards me and places his armoured foot on my chest, pressing me to the ground.
He put his hand on the visor and opened it, showing a scared face with a creepy smile, "I want to torture you for your sins and have a little fun with you, but sadly my time is short. So I will have to comply only with minor and fast torture. " Then, with a happy glint in his eye, he pierced his sword through the unprotected part of my arm.
"How dare you to injure a beautiful young maiden. You, you... animal," I teased him and secretly erected my claws on one arm.
Ignoring my teasing, his eye filled only with more fanatism as prepared to stab his sword again. But before he could I swung my claw towards one of his legs. Blood poured out of his stump and covered me in the red. He staggered and lost his balance so I swung my claws again. This time towards his belly. "Splat" ugly sound was made as I clawed through his armour and flesh before his guts started to spill out.
"Arggg!" he was lying on the ground groaning in the pain.
"You should have gone after my head, you idiot..." I smiled at him before turning a summoning four spikes of ice that penetrated on the place of joints on his armour. Pain already subsided as my regeneration started to work. I even got the announcement that my regeneration levelled up.
'This bugger surprised me. If he wasn't an idiot, I could have died.'

'Wow, after this, three of my spells can evolve. Sadly there is no time now.'
I looked towards a battlefield again, only to see that a battle was won after most of the enemies were annihilated by blood magic. Only a few of them survived, only to be slaughtered by hordes of undead. In the background, I spotted a cathedral and smiled "Finally, it comes close to the goal, just wait, I will teach you that it was a bad idea to kill my wolfs, my pets".

Adventurer Book II - Dawn of an Empire Short story prequel- The Lurking Lair: An Adventuer Series Short Story Summary for the LitRPG savvy reader: Looking for a LitRPG that is more tabletop traditional role playing game and less MMORPG? This is probably your cup of tea. Long term progression with a heavy slice of life element. Strong mix and inclusion of ancient Greek life, values, and myths. Hence, the world can be a bit more harsh and brutish than modern sensibilities. The system is tangible and knowable beyond the MC's insights. The MC is more of an everyman than someone specifically chosen for the experience. Author's Note: This is my debut novel. Up until this point, the only thing I have written of comparable length has been non-fiction and related to history. I am immensely grateful to all the folks who have given me feedback and helped me improve my writing.

Rifts of War
The visions. It was they that told us about our future. They said that we were the true rulers of the world, the spreaders of light, the guardians of the rightious path. The visions gave us signs of a bright new world, one united under a single banner of light. All those who opposed us suffered and here we stand on the top, watching over the world. We thought it would last forever, but we thought wrong. The visions once again spoke to us and gave us insight, but not to glory or power. They spoke of a terrible fate. An enemy from beyond the realm, one that wishes to destroy us all, one that threatens to bring about the end of the light and usher an age of darkness. As its guardians, we could not allow that. And so we decided to strike. Our armies and our mages gather at the great rift that connects our world. No one knew what we would find. Treasures? Rich land? Savage beasts? There was only one way to find out. A/N: The story starts out pretty quick and I know people will say this is a "military p*rn" but that's only the beginning. I really do have much more planned for this book so I can make a true 'war of the worlds' type of deal. So stick around and enjoy
