《Real》Chapter 27(2): Slowly Breaking Down

For the whole week, Jenny felt like she was in heaven.
Her parents who usually spent their entire day working in their offices, became more relaxed and would instead go home and spent time with their beloved daughter. They would watch TV series together, laugh as they watch horror movies, cook their meals, eat together while having a wholesome conversation, teasing and playing games--- no matter how one looked at it, everyone who sees these would definitely consider them as an ideal family. If this isn't happiness, what is?
However things aren't really that simple.
Looking at the sleeping Jenny, her parents smiled and silently left the room. They then went to their own bedroom and quietly laid their body down. The whole room was filled with silence, and it lasted for a while until Jenny's dad couldn't take it anymore.
"... What should we do?" He sighed and looked at his wife beside him. "If this continued the whole company might be taken over by that guy."
Massaging his temple, he looked at the ceiling with frustration and helplessness.
"I don't want the business that we built together disappear just like that."
Seeing her husband depressed, Jenny's mom leaned closer and tried to calm him down. Even so, she herself is feeling helpless about their current situation.
"Why don't we try to negotiate then?" she calmly suggested.
"What, negotiation?" he laughed bitterly. "We tried that before, it didn't work."
Sighing softly, he also leaned at his wife and hugged her tightly. His wife didn't mind and even felt comfortable about it, but her brows was frowning slightly. Its like she wanted to say something but didn't know how.
"... How 'bout we sell the company, and build a new one?" she asked with a soft voice.
Hearing that he glared at her a little bit, and stayed quiet for a couple seconds.
"Sell it? The amount he's willing to pay is nothing compared to our company's potential." he smirked. "Not only that, even if we actually sold it and build a new company, with that fcking shit of a guy, he'd probably try to take us down before we could even start. Doing that is fcking stupidity!"
Realizing that he's raising his voice, he tried to calm down and looked at his wife apologetically.
"Besides," he sighed again and looked directly at her eyes. Its filled with love and longing. "We promised that its all for her sake. For her future. How can we abandon it just like that."
Hugging her even more tightly, he continued.
"All I want is to give her a better future."
Feeling his warmth, she leaned closer and let him hug her tight.
That night, they decided that they'll do everything for their daughter's future and happiness.
-------
After wearing her uniform, Jenny entered the car and left for school.
For Jenny, school was an amazing place where one could have fun with their friends and enjoy their youth. It was a place filled new things to learn, and new things to exploit to have an amazing day. However, right now, for her, school is nothing but a prison that forces her to suffer in different ways possible.
Opening the door, she saw the class having fun and talking to each other. Some of them looked at her, but when they saw Jenny, they didn't bother and continued with their conversations. Being ignore and treated like an air was already normal for her, so she didn't react much.
Closing the door, she walked towards her seat only to find a young boy sitting there and having fun with the girls. Standing beside her seat, the boy didn't even look at her and continued talking.

Frowning slightly, Jenny decided to speak.
"That's my seat." she said with a soft voice.
The boy didn't bother with her and just smiled. The young girls he's talking to are also quiet, and would just throw a glance at him and see what Jenny's reaction would be.
Seeing that the boy isn't moving, Jenny frowned even more.
In her old school, kids who acted like this would be beaten up by everyone. Since all of them came from a poor family, all the kids there grew up in the street together with some gangsta-like adults. And for these kids, seeing someone getting beaten up, and seeing some riot was normal and actually entertaining to watch. That's why her old school was quite peaceful and no one acts arrogantly. Because if someone did, the kids would fck that arrogant shit, hard.
Jenny's one of those kids with the most influence. With her around, no one could bully the girls, and for the boys, they didn't mind her and even treated her like just any other boy friend/brother. However, in her new school, spoiled brats like this young boy are common as weeds on the ground.
Jenny really wanted to beat the crap out of this kid, but her father said she should act more properly. Each of these kids have certain backgrounds and have a lot of money since they can study in this school. Meaning, offending any of them would be different compared to when she was in her old school.
Sighing softly, she looked at the young boy and started poking his neck with her index finger. She poke, and poke, and more pokes, she continued for a couple minutes, but even so, the boy didn't look at her, and still treated her like an air. So, Jenny then used her free hand and messed his hair while still continuing her poking. Finally, the boy snapped and used his elbow to pushed away Jenny! Caught by surprise, Jenny lost her balance and her forehead grazed over the edge of her seatmate's table. She then fell down on the floor while her head's bleeding.
Seeing this, the kids looked at the boy and frowned a little. Even though they tend to ignore Jenny, they're not low enough to hurt her. Treating her like an air and bumping her sometimes, are the worst they can do. But the boy just straight up hit her and even made her bleed!
Condemning the boy, and telling him he didn't have to do that--- the class looked at Jenny who's bleeding and quietly lying on the ground. Some of the kids called some nearby teachers, and others called their Class adviser (the teacher that's in charge of the class).
Jenny was sent to the clinic and was treated by their school nurse. After they learned that it was fine, the Principal still decided to bring her to the nearest hospital just to be sure. The principal can only wipe his sweat and contemplate about the next move he should make.
The kids in this school are mostly children of the influential and rich people in the country. So most of them were thought to behave properly and act prudently. Because of that, there was no previous incident where a child was injured by another child. The principal could only sigh and hope for the best. Specially since the boy who did it was the grandson of a Mayor.
In the end, Jenny was forced to to go home and was told that the punishment for the kid would be handled immediately. So, even though she felt terrible, she still obeyed and quietly go home. For her, this kind of injury was nothing and very easy to heal. When she was in her old neighborhood, she always had this kind of injury, its not really that much. Its just that, this is the first time she got injured in the face.

She might be a kid, but she's still a girl.
Sighing lightly, she promised that one day, she'll teach that spoiled brat a lesson.
After Jenny came home from a tortuous place called school, Jenny happily abandoned everything about that annoying place, and happily waited for her parents to come home instead. Even though school wasn't really a place where she could relax and have an amazing time like other kids, she was fine as long as their family is happy and could stay together without a problem. For her, they could bully her all they want, as long as she could see her parents smile, she would do her best to endure it.
Unfortunately, life was not something anyone can control. Even if someone wanted to be happy, it doesn't mean everything would go entirely their way. Jenny realized this when someone called their home and told her that something happened to her parents.
Immediately, together with the nanny in charge of her that day, Jenny arrived in a hospital where her parents was confined. Filled with panic and worry, Jenny kept asking if everything was going to be alright. However, the one she's asking, the nanny, also didn't know. She could only comfort the young girl repeatedly, and silently wait for the doctor.
After almost an hour, the doctor came out and asked if they were the relatives. Seeing that the only relative was a young girl, the doctor's face became complicated and didn't know what to do. In the end he sighed, and tried to explain it to Jenny as gentle and simple as possible. Still, no matter how gentle he was, the impact was still strong. And Jenny easily understand his hidden meaning.
At that moment, for the first time in her life, she discovered despair. The feeling of losing her most important loved ones, and seeing the only lights that gave her hope slowly fading in this dark world--- she felt suppressed. The pressure that enveloped her entire being like heaven and earth falling apart was killing her. Incomparable sadness, regret, and longing was slowly drowning her to death.
Even though she didn't want to believe it, and even though she tried her best to hope, the reality staring at her eyes was the truth and proof that the lights are now gone. And no matter how much she cried and begged, her parents wont ever come back.
Jenny then realizes that heaven and hell are just like different sides of a coin flipping in the air. And like a bitch, fate decided to play with her by continuously making the coin land in hell.
-------
That night, her uncle and his wife went to her place and handled all the procedure needed. Since the so-called "accident" happened to Jenny's parents, there are many things to be done, and Jenny, who's just a child, wont be able handle all of that.
At their home that was now dark and quiet, Jenny was curled up under the bed of her parent's bed and silently staring at the air. All the memories she have with her parents were slowly appearing one after another.
She remembers that she would sometimes act childish by hiding under their bed and surprising them by shouting and jumping out. She remembers that when she was much more younger, she would always hide under the bed when she was upset about something. And its her parents who'd talk to her and sometimes forces her out of the bed. At those times, she even scratched her Dad a couple times, but he just smiled pinched her cheeks. Remembering it now feels kinda stupid, but also nostalgic.
How she wish she could experience those memories all over again.
Slowly, tears started falling down of her face. But even so, she didn't make a sound.
As sadness envelopes her, the door slowly opened and two adults entered. One man and one woman. Seeing this, Jenny had the illusion that her parents might have come back and was about to comfort her that everything was fine, and she didn't need to cry. Sadly, this thought only lasted for a couple seconds before dying down.
From their voices, Jenny understood that its her uncle and his wife.
"Where's Jenny?" asked the uncle as he slowly sat on the corner of the bed.
"Probably crying in her room." answered his wife as she sat beside her husband.
Even though the two are talking about her, Jenny still didn't make a sound. For her, its not important why they entered this room, and what they want. Right now, she really didn't have a single energy to care about anything else.
"Anyway," the wife looked at her husband and smiled beautifully. "What do you think?"
Jenny's uncle didn't answer.
"Now that they're dead, we could finally take the whole company for ourselves!" the wife laughed amusedly. "So, as the new owner of the company what do we do? Should we sell it to that guy, or ask to have some share with it? I'm not really good with this business, but--"
Before she could continue, Jenny's uncle glared at her and spoke in a low tone.
"Karen, stop."
Looking at her husband, she stopped and looked at him confused.
"What's wrong?"
"What's wrong? You're asking me what's wrong?! Are you fcking with me?!" Jenny's uncle glared with red eyes. "My brother just fcking died, and you're only thinking about the fcking company?! Are you-- I.."
He stopped and looked at Karen with unspeakable light in his eyes.
"Do you even care?" he asked slowly.
"... Of course, I care." Karen said slowly as she tried to calm down her husband. "But we need to be more practical here. Jenny is still a child, she cant possibly manage a company. Specially now that its under the pressure of that guy."
Seeing that he stayed quiet, Karen continued.
"We don't really have much choice." holding his hands, Karen's voice turned even more gentler. "Besides, if we give the company to that guy, we'll also get something."
Putting his hands to her lower tummy, she smiled.
"We're about to have a family, we could use that money for our future. For this child's future. With that, we wont live in poverty anymore!"
The room was silent for a couple of seconds before Jenny's uncle sighed and looked at Karen.
"We still cant do that." he shook his head.
"Joey!" Karen's tone changed and started glaring at him.
"The company isn't ours!" Joey raised his voice as well, but his face still looks calm. "Besides, if we're talking about someone's future, Jenny needed that more! She just lost her parents! What do you think she should do?"
Smirking slightly, Karen stood up and walked in front of Joey.
"What then?" she asked with a calm voice. "You'll handle the company, then give it to Jenny when she's older? Is that your plan?"
She started laughing lightly. And after a couple seconds, she stopped and looked at her husband seriously.
"... Do you wanna die?"
*******
Sofia has been looking for Jenny for a while now, but she couldn't find her anywhere. As her nanny, she of course have the responsibility to take care of her. Even though, her job was practically over since her employers are already dead, she still decided to take care of her. Simply because she knows what Jenny was feeling--- as someone who also lost her parents in young age.
Actually at that time, it was Jenny's parents who helped her recover and gave her--- someone who lost everything--- something to care. She was very thankful for the couple, and so she felt like she needed to do something for them. But since they're already gone, she hope she could help the young girl, Jenny, to at least recover from the sadness.
After all, once someone lost the lights, their visions would become darker. And slowly, they might break and lose their way. By that time, their way of thinking would change and would become twisted. A monster with no values--- like her, Sofia.
Standing in front of a room, she heard some people talking. From what she knows, this is the only room she haven't open yet, since its the bedroom of Jenny's parents.
As she was contemplating if should she enter or not, she suddenly received a call from an unknown number. Curiously, she answered it.
"You must be Sofia?" a beautiful voice of a woman was heard. "Listen here, if you wanna help Jenny, you only have one thing to do--."
"Wait, who're you?" Sofia asked while frowning slightly.
"It doesn't matter." the voice simply answered. "I'll send you the place and some informations you need to know. If you're feeling doubtful, then ask Jenny to confirm it."
Without waiting for Sofia to answer back, the call already ended.
Feeling confused, she looked at her phone with weird light in her eyes. While she was doing that, she received an email. After opening it, she quietly read the whole thing, and couldn't help but sigh.
"To all the places, why there?" she muttered dejectedly.
She didn't really want to go there, but thinking about Jenny, she quietly grit her teeth and sighed again.
Looking at the direction of that cursed building, Sofia whispered in a low voice.
"Carissa Residences.."
