《Real》Chapter 27(1): In Her Point of View

Jenny is what everyone would consider as a simple yet lovable young girl.

If basing it on her appearance, many would say she's an average. Many young girls would most likely have the same looks like her. But if basing it on her character, then those people who knows her would definitely consider her as adorable.

Since Jenny grew up in an average family, she has a simple and easy going lifestyle. She's not choosy with what she eats, what she wears, and most likely where she spends her time as long as she's having fun. After all, for a normal girl like her, enjoyment is what she truly needed. And that's all she wanted. However, things started to change when her parents started their own business. For her, this kind of things are actually complicated and hard to understand, so she mostly didn't bother. Still, she knows that the reason why her family started to change was all because of this so-called business.

From what she heard, their business is actually clever yet simple. It also has a huge potential to become big and successful, making her parents even more invested in it. Because of that, her parents mostly stayed at their jobs and focused on the business that they're doing.

In the end, Jenny became alone.

Her parents started to pay less and less attention about her well being, and mostly left her with some nanny that she barely knew. In exchange though, their family started living in a good house with big rooms and huge space, making it even more empty and lonely for Jenny. She has new clothes, new house, new cars, new toys, and more new things that to be honest for her--- she didn't need.

All she wanted was to be with her family.

-----

Months passed and their family became more and more weird and uncomfortable. Jenny could always hear her parents shouting and insulting each other like they're enemies. She couldn't understand it. What exactly happened that made her loving family turned into monsters who only cares about themselves? Why are they calling names? Why are they screaming and blaming each other? Didn't they all promise that they would always fix everything together with a smile? Then why are they saying that they wanted separate and live alone?

Jenny, your daughter is also here.

Why aren't you mentioning her name when the two of you are talking about living alone? Is she even important to you? Do you still care? What about the promise that you all would live together forever? Why are you talking like she didn't exist?

Questions and more questions kept popping in her mind. And the more she questions herself, the more doubtful she was about life and her family. Every time she hears her parents screaming and shouting to each other, all she could do was sit in a corner of her room, and cry while covering her ears. She didn't want to listen to everything that would make her hate her parents. Her love for her parents are strong and because of that, the impact of them acting like monsters is making Jenny die inside.

Finally she couldn't take it anymore. She ran away home and decided to visit the house they used to live. There, she found out that their old house are now occupied by another family. She didn't know them, and didn't wanna talk to any of them. So, after a while, she just walked away--- with no directions in her mind--- until she felt like her legs are tired. Then she stopped and looked around, only to find out that she didn't know the place. At that time, she was way too exhausted to care, and too depressed to be scared.

While she was sitting and resting silently, suddenly a young boy looking younger than her, appeared. The boy talked to her and asked if who she was and why she was there sitting all alone. The boy was easy to talk to, but because Jenny isn't really in a mood, she told him lies after lies. She gave him a fake name, Jeremy, and told him that she was just walking around for fun and decided to rest. The boy was quite annoying, but she knew that he was just being good kid so she didn't mind. She actually felt kinda relax.

When the night arrived, the boy asked where does she lives, and if she wanted he could accompany her there. Jenny of course lied again, and told him that it was fine and made some excuses to make the boy leave. When she was finally alone, she felt her tummy rumble so she decided to eat some bread she bought in a bakery. Then, she stayed in a corner of a backalley and unknowingly slept.

The next morning, she mostly spent her time sitting and walking around. When she's hungry, she would buy some foods and drinks. By the afternoon, she realized that she didn't have money left so she just sat there where she met the boy. Like what happened yesterday, the boy appeared again and talked to her. The both of them had fun talking, at least it made Jenny forget about her family even for short time. However she noticed that the boy was being more concerned about her, than yesterday. He probably noticed that she's wearing the same clothes and looking a little bit dirty.

"Do you wanna go to our house?" the boy said smiling. "My Kuya might be stupid, but he knows how to cook. He's even better than mom. You'd definitely enjoy dinner."

[Special note: Kuya = Big brother/eldest brother.

Its like Onii-san in japanese and Oppa in korea. Kuya can also be use to address male strangers, or men who are older than you.]

Even though she was a little bit hesitant at first, after nonstop pestering of the boy, she ended up agreeing eventually. She's hungry, she's stinky, and she didn't even have a single peso left. So even though she's embarrassed to go to the house of someone she just met twice, she shrugged it off and just followed the boy.

Arriving in the house, Jenny noticed that even though the boy's house isn't as big as her's, its still bigger than her house when they were still living a normal life. Well she didn't really care at that time, she just followed the boy and looked at him knocked the door. This made her confused a little, so she asked why not enter directly. The boy embarrassedly answered that he forgot it earlier, because he was planning on forcing her to have sleepover in their place. After all, he made a new friend so he was planning on spending the whole night both of them playing games.

This made Jenny confused. Does all boys spend night playing games when sleepover? And is it fine to have sleepover even though they just met? Are all boys like that? Well she didn't know the answer.

After a couple minutes, no one was answering. Because of that, the boy felt even more embarrassed since he brought a friend over, but here they are standing in front of the house and cant get in. Jenny understands that, but she didn't mind. This isn't her house after all. But from the looks of it, the boy isn't happy. Minutes passed again, but still no one answered. Its like the whole house is empty. Finally, the boy lost his patience and slammed his fist a couple times! Its like he didn't even care if it broke.

Immediately the door opened and an adult with unkempt beard and messy hair appeared. He's frowning and looking at the boy silently. Is he the brother the boy was talking about, Jenny wondered.

Seeing the man, the boy glared at him and started berating him. Even Jenny was surprised to hear that. By the tone that was used, its not really appropriate for a kid to talk like that. Specially when talking to an adult. But, Jenny can also understand why the boy talked like that, after all they waited long while standing in front of the door. Still, she didn't make a noise and just watched.

The atmosphere between the two was bad, and for Jenny who was an outsider, its even more terrible. But, she still didn't say anything. To her surprise, the man smacked the boy unconscious! No matter how rude the boy was, an adult cant just hit a child like that! Or is it just just normal thing between siblings? Because they're boys? Jenny didn't know.

In the end, she just nodded her head to the man, and followed him while looking at the unconscious boy that was being dragged on the floor.

-------

While Jenny was taking a bath, she couldn't help but wonder about a lot of stuffs. But after a while, she breathed a sigh and just let everything go. At least for now, she wanted to just forget everything. So after taking a shower, she used the towel given to her and carefully dried herself. While she was wiping every part of her, she couldn't help but notice her chest that became even more bigger than before. Looking at the mirror, she also notice that her hips, her butt, and legs are starting to form beautifully. Even though she's skinny and look average, her body that's starting to mature are very alluring for some people.

Her mom said that its normal. Unlike normal kids, her body would naturally become more mature than the others. And from what her mom said, she would be even more beautiful in the future. She said it was because of the secret of their family or something. Her mom never explained anything though.

Shaking her head, she took the clothes given to her by that man, and wore it calmly. However, after she wore the clothes, she noticed that it was kinda small in the chest area. Its kinda uncomfortable, but since its not her house and its embarrassing to ask, she decided to not mention it and act like normal.

When she came out, she noticed the man coming the down from the stairs while holding some pillows and blankets. At first she thought it was for her, but when the man noticed that she was looking, he simply said it wasn't for her. Then she saw the man gave the pillows and blankets for the young boy.

This made Jenny smile a little bit.

While the man was dragging the young boy earlier, the man was muttering words like, he wont treat the boy like a human until his anger disappeared. But only a couple dozen minutes passed and he's already giving the boy some pillows and blankets. For Jenny this was kinda cute. But like before, she just looked at them and stayed quiet.

After that, the man started talking to her and asked some questions. In a few exchange they made, which Jenny just nodded her head or stayed quiet, the man found out that she's a girl and that her name isn't really Jeremy.

Actually she wasn't really hiding her gender, it just that people always mistook her for a boy because of the way she dressed, and the way she looks. Added to that is her silent approach about everything, its no wonder everyone thought of her as a boy. And since Jenny didn't really care that much, she mostly stayed quiet and let everyone think whatever they want.

The man sighed and immediately went upstairs and gave her a comfortable clothes. He told her that she should change with that, and even though she was kinda confused, she obeyed. After that, both of them stayed quiet and eat their dinner together. Even though she didn't know the man, the way he looked at her while she was enjoying the foods, made her feel relax. She finally knew why the young boy was bragging about the cooking skills of her Kuya.

-----

Unknowingly, she felt relax and comfortable with the man. He didn't talk, and tried to ask anything. He just stayed there and let her enjoyed herself. This made Jenny a little bit guilty, after all she's the guest but she acting impolite by not speaking or saying anything. So, even though she felt embarrassed, she grabbed the shirt of the man and looked at him.

"You wont ask anything?" she asked with a soft voice.

The man smiled and they started talking.

Since her parents became busy, and became something like enemies, they never really talk that much anymore. After their business became successful, they left their house to live in a new one. Because of that, she was transferred to a different school. And in that school, compared to her previous public school, this one is a private and has a good reputation. The quality of education and the people who's studying there are the so called elites. And because she came from a public school, the people in her new school never treated her well. Actually its almost bullying.

So, for a while now, she has no one that she could talk to that could make her feel like she's a person. Meeting this man made her feel like she now have someone she could lean on. Someone who could help her release some of her dark thoughts. It might be a little bit selfish, but she really didn't know what to do. And remembering what's going on in her family, she couldn't help but feel incredibly sad and disappointed.

Unknowingly, she cried and slowly told everything to the man.

The man didn't say anything and just continued listening to her. And when she was done, she looked at the man only to find out that he was smiling. He gently wiped her tears and talked to her while looking at her with indescribable light in his eyes. This made Jenny mesmerized a little bit and listened to everything what the man said.

"Its easy." he laughed and looked at her eyes. "Then you can just come here and talk to me. I don't really have anything to do most of the times, so you can just come here and I'll listen to you."

That night, both of them talked happily and Jenny enjoyed every second of it. By the end, before the man left, Jenny asked for his name.

"I'm Gabriel." he smiled.

That was the moment that this name became a tattoo that wouldn't be erased in her heart.

-------

When Jenny came down in the morning, she saw that the breakfast was ready and the brothers are now fine. When the young boy saw her, he happily tried to talk to her. This made Jenny smile and she felt that this kind of life was nice. While they were eating, Jenny told the boy, Rico, that her real name isn't Jeremy, but Jenny. She also said she was lying about some things she said a couple days ago. After saying sorry, she noticed that Rico didn't really care and just smiled at her.

As they happily eating the breakfast, Jenny would steal glances at Gabriel and cheekily tried to let him enter the conversation. For her, even though Gabriel looked like a farmer who became homeless and was gangraped, he was dazzling like stars in the sky in Jenny's point of view. She could even feel her face heating up for some reason.

Bam!

By the time that they're about to finish breakfast, her parents suddenly appeared. They said they were looking for her and they were worried about her safety. They also said they were sorry for everything and would try their best to restore their happy family. Hearing all these, Jenny cried and felt guilty for her childish actions. She said that she would try her best to be the best daughter they could have.

In the end, everything was solved all thanks to Gabriel's family.

When Jenny and her family was leaving, Jenny walked towards the man who gave her advice and listened to her all night. She couldn't help but feel sad that she needed to leave. If it was possible, she wanted to stay with him more. Of course that was just a thought.

Looking at Gabriel's eyes, Jenny became a little bit shy.

"Can I visit you again?"

"Of course." he laughed. "Anytime you like."

After that, she and her family left to go home.

-----

Inside the car, for the first time in a while, all of them were smiling while having a nice conversation about each other. It has been a while since they just had proper and relaxing conversation, so this made them remember those good memories before. Thinking about it, Jenny's parents couldn't help but wonder what happened.

Shaking her head, Jenny's mother looked at the backseat where Jenny was sitting.

"So, I saw you getting overly chummy with that Gabriel earlier." she then smiled teasingly. "Is my baby finally a lady?"

"No.." Jenny's face slightly turned red and avoided her mom's gaze. "We just... last night.."

Seeing her daughter acting weird while talking about a guy, Jenny's dad couldn't help but frown a little. What last night? What the fck did that guy do to you last night?!

Even though Jenny's dad was thankful for that family, its not to the point that he would give his daughter to them. Specially to that guy, Gabriel. Based from what they heard, Gabriel might have stepped on college and studied in a State University, but no matter what--- he didn't graduate so it's mostly useless. Besides he didn't have a job and was just leeching off in his family. No matter how Jenny's dad looked at it, they cant be together. And also, the most important thing here is, Jenny is only eleven! Why the fck would it be okay for him to let his daughter be with a man who's eleven-to-twelve years older than her? And why the fck was he even considering all of these?!

Breathing a sigh, Jenny's dad tried his best to calm down and focused himself on driving. His wife noticed this but decided to stay quiet and just smiled.

When it was almost noon, they finally arrived at their house and planned to have a relaxing day. Getting out of the car, Jenny's dad went inside and smilingly went to prepare lunch. Seeing that only the two of them left, Jenny's mom looked at Jenny and stopped her. Curiously, Jenny also looked at her mom and wondered why aren't they entering the house.

"So, do you like that Gabriel?" Jenny's mom smiled gently.

"Mom!"

Jenny felt her face heated up again. She thought this topic was already over?!

"Listen to me first." Her mom turned serious. "If you truly like him, I wont mind. Actually I would even help you become his wife."

Without waiting for Jenny to react, she already continued.

"It would be really hard to explain it to you since you're still young." she smiled gently and lightly touched Jenny's face. "You see, people like us are rarely seen. And even if we met someone like us, it wont mean we're immediately compatible. So meeting a young man that can communicate with the nature is already amazing."

Jenny could only stay quiet and look at her mom talking about things she couldn't understand.

"With the purity of your bloodline, and that man's connection to nature--" she smiled excitedly while imaging the things that she's been longing for since she was a child. "It might be possible to revive our entire race."

In the ancient times, they were considered as the purest living being on the planet. They are the guardians of the mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, and anything that has connection with the nature. They were treated as diety, spirit, or something holy that people of the ancient times couldn't understand. Beautiful and everlasting, rewards the good and punishes the evil, pure and untainted.

They are the Diwata, the nobles of Engkantada.

[Special note: Diwata = Fairy/ Forest Spirit/ Goddess. In a more simpler manner, they're like elves who loves the nature. Beautiful, long lives, and good natured.

From what I researched Engkantada was originally spanish word. But I couldn't tell what it means because google wont tell me. Anyway, this word "Engkantada" is a filipino (Philippines) word meaning, "mythical beings" or "spirits or beings with supernatural capabilities".

Just think of it like, Engkantada is a community of supernatural. And Diwata is the royal family (Leader) of that community.]
