Red Horn Forest
[Me] “I-I’m s-sorry, p-please r-reverse…”
I sat there in the corner of the cave containing the moon pool apologizing over and over to the destroyed seal that once housed the demonic core. Never in my life had I been so petrified, and I often found myself stammering with my words.
I was cursed… that had to be it. Although I never heard of this particular curse before, I do know that curses exists out there that can strip a person of their tier. I was also confused as of why I now had a demonic core in the center of my mana. No, that itself is not too confusing, what made me even more confused is the fact that I can’t feel my heart beat… at all.
Two hours, that is how long I sat there apologizing and wondering why my heart wasn’t beating. At several points in time I actually believed that I had died, only to notice that I was still in the cave, and could still feel the coldness of the cave’s walls and floor. This in turn caused me to break into another fit of apologies and theories as of why my heart wasn’t beating. If I weren’t so shaken over the fact that my tier dropped, I could have realized the answer a lot sooner, however I was in a state of panic and worry so I was not thinking rationally.
Then it came to me… wasn’t my circumstance similar to that of a demonic beasts? No heart, but instead a demonic core in its place… that would explain why my heart wasn’t beating and why I could clearly feel the demonic core instead.
… And another hour came to pass…
I have finally started to calm down and accept my new reality, that I now have a demonic core in place of my heart. That did not necessarily mean I was a demonic beast myself, it just meant that I was no longer a blood elf. The question that has been plaguing my mind for a while now was ‘if I’m not elven, or human, or demon, and if I’m not a demonic beast, then what am I?’ In all of history I had never heard of a being with a demonic core and without being a beast, so naturally I had no idea of what to call myself right now.

“Immortal”
Oh, so that’s what I’m called! Hmm, no idea as of why I’m called immortal if I hadn’t yet reached the six stage… wait… who said that?
[Voice] “It is I, the sovereign of the skies, the lord of all beasts, and the griffin of all griffins!”
WHAT?! This guy claims he’s a griffin… pft, not possible. I mean if he were a griffin then everyone would know about him by now! Wait a minute… how does he know what I’m thinking? I’m pretty sure I never said anything allowed.
[Voice] “Oh? I know what you’re thinking because I’m inside your head!”
This guy does know he’s calling me crazy right? I finally lost it… the loss of a tier really affected my mental state so much, I guess it is possible.
[Voice] “What are you thinking about?! I am real!!!”
Ahh, look… my delusions are acting up again. I must learn to ignore this sort of thing…
[Voice] “Oh, so you want to ignore me eh? Well ignore THIS!”
Just then my vision went blank and when my eyes cleared up I was not in the cave any more. No, I don’t think I was in the world anymore. Of course this is impossible, so my subconscious must have been pulled some were. Now that I look around, that is the most plausible answer. I am sitting on air, and I am surrounded by millions upon millions of stars that seem to be littering the sky both above and below me.
[Voice] “Welcome to the void!”
I look in the direction of the voice, and that is when I see it. My entire body freezes up as I gaze upon a 7 foot beast. He looked like a lion, except he had huge bird wings bursting from his back, as well as two, simple red horns coming out of his head. A Red-Horned Griffin was standing right in front of me. No seriously, I am sure I remember that ancient beasts such as griffins don’t grow red-horns… at all.

[Griffin] “I am a beauty, aren’t I?”
[Me] “Hmm? Oh, sorry… I was just noticing how my facts on ancient beasts seem to be completely wrong.”
[Griffin] “Ancient beasts? Quick, tell me how long it has been since the last sighting of a griffin.”
[Me] “2500 years, why?”
[Griffin] “That no good, lying little brat really did it! I can’t believe how audacious he was! He went and sealed me!”
[Me] “Who sealed you?”
[Griffin] “No one that is alive now… any way I called you here to tell you something!”
Did he... yes he really just ignored my question, and on top of that switched topics!
[Griffin] “You need to know that somehow you just went and did the impossible! You literally just absorbed my core, which you probably tried to cultivate, right? Well, I wasn’t one to let people just walk up and cultivate my core, so I decided to place a curse on myself. This curse made anyone who tried to cultivate it fail, however there is a extremely low possibility that if the person cultivating is a blood elf, and sacrifices oen tier, that they can instead absorb it. This will be done completely against their will, LOL! Anyway, long story short you just got an amazing power that I really don’t feel like explaining… and I am currently disappearing because I actually died, like, a loooooooooooooong time ago… so have fun figuring out your powers by yourself! Bye-bye now, take care of that core!”
I’m going to kill him. No, he’s already dead… instead I shall curse him in the afterlife! It was HIM who caused me to lose a tier and my heart! Besides, what demon says ‘lol’?!
Suddenly the world shifted and I opened my eyes to see the cave once again. Eyes fuming, I continually curse the griffin to a life full of pain and misery. Then, realizing once again how sweaty I was; I took a bath in the moon pool. Ah… how good it felt to wash one’s self after a long irritating talk with a certain griffin…

The Book of Mors: Summoned
Around two thousand years ago, The world of Acoria suffered what is known as The Great Calamity, turning the continent of Teknish into a smouldering wasteland, irradiated by chaotic mana and ravaged by savage energy storms, causing the surviving sentient races to flee to the much smaller and resource deficient continent of Malthasia. The year is now 2101 AGC (After Great Cataclysm) and the intense competition for space and resources has left humanity with only three surviving kingdoms, protected by the nearly impassable mountains of the Antaeth basin. Standing on the verge of collapse, the human kingdom of Vonai is forced to perform a summoning ritual, ripping souls from another dimension and implanting them into magically created bodies. Molting the Mortal Coil
Reincarnated as a child in a new world a mild mannered programmer, named Sage, finds himself struggling to survive. The road to immortality is paved with danger, treasure, and conflict. This mystical eastern world is filled with Demonic Beasts, Treacherous Cultivators, and Extraordinary Legacies. Follow Sage on his journey to adapt to this new world, and find out if he can overcome the limitations of body, mind, and soul. Will he rise to the occasion and become a hero? Or maybe he'll turn to the dark side and end up a villain? Molting the Mortal Coil is more of a slower paced journey. It's not about endless battles and conquering the next bad guy who spits on the main characters shoes or sends him a funny look. There's also not a treadmill of tournaments or love interests. It's more of a slower burn with lots of, and hopefully not too much, world building. It's still supposed to be stuffed with action, but that won't pick up for a while since we start with a weakling. The first 30 chapters have a lot of time-skipping, but stay with me it gets better. I plan to re-write and add more to the first 30 in the future, but if you can push through I feel it gets much more fun after! Updates will be weekly.
