《Reincarnation Luna (On Hiatus)》Chapter 12: The Challenge

Red Horn Forest
Shame. I can’t believe that I shamed myself this bad. It’s a long known theory that when cultivating your emotions are blown slightly out of proportion, and that is one of the reasons you meditate when cultivating. The other reason one has to meditate is to make the mana flow more smoothly.
Taking the information into account, it is only reasonable that when doing a more ‘advanced’ version of cultivation, that the after effects are also more advanced. This means that the forced absorption that I just went through had the side effects of increasing my emotions to their max for a couple hours.
Thinking back, in my past life I often saw Black Mages, a type of being that focuses on dark magic, attempting to find a more ‘advanced’ way of cultivating, which they never did. Despite that, their live test subjects would go through the same emotion rising that I did. Despite the emotions both changing to the max, these people would often massacre people because of a drop of sadness, or destroy buildings because they were a certain color. Compared to them, I guess my break-down was a little mild. Knowing this information helped a little, but honestly I never wanted to be that humiliated again.
Now that I think about it, it has been a couple days since I visited my house. Standing up, I stretch my sore muscles and start walking. Upon reaching the caves entrance I stop. I sense another person’s presence, and I send out a little of my mana to investigate on the identity. My mana comes back with results that make me want to either cringe or smile.
[Ryan] “Hello Luna! Good to see you up and about your cave!”
[Me] “Nice to see you too, Ryan. By what chance are you visiting?”

[Ryan] “I actually came here on a rumor that a strange wild demon has recently inhabited this area of the forest.”
[Me] “Demon? They aren’t supposed to reside in Red Horn Forest…”
[Ryan] “I know, however I must investigate it for the safety of all sect disciples! I also wanted to warn you about the demon.”
[Me] “Thank you, but I will be fine. I am returning back to my home in the sect for now.”
[Ryan] “Oh, I see. Well, just be safe in these woods, alright?”
[Me] “Okay…”
Hmm… so it seems like a rumor about a demon residing in these parts has spread. 8 out of 10 chances point to me being the cause of such rumors, however what I could have done to make these rumors start is beyond me. I just hope that people won’t come here to subjugate that demon, or else I might not be able to train like I have been.
Upon reaching my house, I see Maria. She is currently standing in the garden, and seems to be pondering something. Judging on the flower’s state, she is probably thinking about them.
[Me] “Oh hey Maria, what’s wrong?”
[Maria] “Your back Luna! It’s nice to see you again. I am currently wondering who trampled all over the flowers.”
Now that I take a closer look at the flowers, I can see obvious signs of footprints, and judging on how fresh the flowers still look, I can guess that this just recently happened. I sincerely hope someone is not trying to pick a fight with either me or Maria.
[A Girl] “Well, well… what do we have here? Little Miss Know-it-all and her roommate.”
Great, now I meet a dumb person. I rather idiots because that are easily manipulated with smiles, however dumb people are just people who lack a certain element called common sense. I notice Maria move slightly behind me subconsciously, and I know that the dumb person must be the bully.

[Me] “Pardon my intrusion, but who are you to speak to Maria this way?”
[A Girl] “Are you telling me that you never heard of me?!”
If I’m asking you then obviously I had never heard of you.
[A Girl] “Hmf, well a commoner of your standing would never even have a chance to hear the name of one as majestic as myself.”
Quick question… does she even know the meaning of half of those words?
[A Girl] “I am Gabriella Delingade, daughter of clan leader Rohn Delingade. Now bow before me, you lowly peasant!”
Although I have the body of a five year old, my scholar mind from my past life refuses for me to sink so low as to actually listen to her. In fact, if I remember correctly, although her father is a clan leader, he is the clan leader of a relatively small clan. This means I have absolutely no reason to fear a girl such as her.
[Me] “I apologize for my behavior; however I will not bow to one such as yourself due to social standing.”
[Gabriella] “You dare…”
She looks at me with evil intentions swimming in her eyes, and she clenches her fist angrily. She seems to be so spoiled that she can’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
[Gabriella] “Fine you lowly peasant! You will fight against one of my followers, and when you lose you will bow to me!”
Hmm? So it looks like her father’s influences can only affect a little while she is in here.
[Me] “On what grounds would I accept this fight or its conditions?”
[Gabriella] “You will accept if you ever want to be safe outside of the sect grounds again!”
So now she has resorted to threatening me? It makes me wonder what her father is like if his 12 year old daughter can make serious threats like this. Personally, I’m not that worried about the threat, however it will be troublesome if in the future I need something and am unable to gain it because of this childish squabble. Although it may be worse if I fight and win… I guess there really is only one way to find out with dumb people such as her.
[Me] “Fine, I accept, but please do not bother me in the future if I win.”
[Gabriella] “Hmf, like you have any chance at winning. Alright, I will never bother you again IF you somehow manage to win. I will see you in the duel arena tomorrow at noon.”
Just like that she walks away filled with over confidence.
[Maria] “I’m sorry I dragged you into my mess, please forgive me!”
[Me] “No, it’s alright. You are my roommate after all, besides she probably would have found a way to issue the challenge even if she didn’t meet me through you any way.”
So I guess I will be able to test my powers against another being that can use mana… seems like fun.

The Flesh and Blood Dungeon
This is not the usual dungeon core story. I did not originally plan to make it humorous, but, well, you'll see. This fiction will not turn into a story about a bunch of adventurers who enter a giant boars anus looking for treasure. No promises tho.
