《Freedom in the New World》Of Gods and Monsters

After the cheering had died down the voice returned, “Alrighty then I have confirmed your choice, but I must say the road you have chosen to walk will not be an easy one.” Quick as the crack of a whip James responded, “I never expected this world to be easy, even with what I know. It’s going to be a hell of ride though!” James’ smile was filled with a dark glee, for he reveled in the challenges that laid ahead. This worlds difficulty reminded him of Dark Souls, but he knew the challenges would be greater, and so would be the sense of accomplishment when he overcame them.
“This is where we must end this conversation, but remember we are watching you. Also, since your now banned from the town you are in, you will be placed just outside the city gates.” The world seemed to return to normal, as much as it could anyway. James examined the sword he had pulled from Fenrir, but no information presented itself. “A mystery for another time.” James stowed the sword in his inventory.
“Come closer, I have heard your words and know them to be true so I will bless you with the power to hold true to that oath.” James stepped up to Fenrir, “Show me the Horn.” James knelt before Fenrir holding the large horn towards him, presenting it. Fenrir leaned forward and whispered words unto the horn. Words that as they were spoken shook the very ground upon which they stood.
When it was done several notifications were presented to James.
The Restrictions of the “Horn of Fenrir” have been lifted. It has become what it was truly meant to be but was held back from becoming.
Congratulations you have discovered the hidden World item “Fenrir’s Howl.”
Fenrir’s Howl: 1/week- Call forth a legion of Dire Werewolves to defend you, and hunt down your foes. Also calls all nearby non-hostile wolf type monsters to your aid. Nearby werewolves, both NPC and player, are notified of your presence, they are also subjected to this item’s effects on other creatures. Said creatures will not harm you unless threatened or harmed by you.
Summon Avatar of Fenrir: 1/week- You call forth an avatar of Fenrir to aid you in battle. Only one of these avatars may exist at any one time.
While you are in possession of “Fenrir’s Howl” wolf type creatures will see you as an ally and will defend you with their lives. All creatures, including players, beneath your level will have their stats reduced by 25% when fighting you. Some creatures will flee from your presence in fright.
Wolf type creatures under your control have their stats boosted by 25%.
Wolf type players are automatically added into a team with you while under the effects of this item.
Call the Pack: 2/day- You teleport all nearby wolf type creatures to you and compel their obedience. Effects of “Fenrir’s Howl” even effect undead wolf type creatures.
Player’s under the effects of this item gain 25% more EXP while fighting for you.
You may choose which function of this item to use each time you blow it.
You are my champion, and I am your friend- Fenrir
Now that he saw this item, he realized something. He had not seen this item when he was working on integrating world items into power armor. “So, the only hidden world item I was allowed to see was the Caloric stone.” A further thought crossed his mind, he had mentioned Caloric stone before he saw any of the world items. The people watching him must be very curious as to how he knew about that item. He had to be more careful.

The notifications continued.
Because of your maximum levels in the Fenrir’s Chosen class, and your title “Harbinger of Ragnarök”, a hidden ability of this item has been revealed.
Ragnarök (Locked): Once- You blow this horn, and the beasts of the world join your call with their own. You and all who give their voices to this effect, blessing Fenrir with the strength needed to free himself. Summons Fenrir to you. Fenrir persists even when you are dead or offline.
Ragnarök cannot be used until you have met the requirements.
1: Become level 100.
2: Slay at least one god from the Norse pantheon.
3: Posses this item for at least one whole year.
Congratulations you are the first player to obtain a World Class Item. The gods have taken notice. Because of your maximum levels in the Fenrir’s Chosen class, and your title “Harbinger of Ragnarök”, the gods have withheld the reward for this accomplishment.
Before James could fully comprehend the magnitude of what all these notifications meant Fenrir spoke, “Go now and bring about my freedom!” The nighttime starry sky and full moon were replaced with a blue sky and a blinding sun. He blinked a few times, and when he could see he found he was about 1000 feet from the front gate of the city. Two more notifications.
You have been granted the “Blessing of Fenrir”
The gods have witnessed your arrival to their domain. The gods have placed a bounty on your head and notified all players within the city of your current location. If your level is reduced to zero or below by death from today onward your account will be erased, so the gods have decreed.
James was once again speechless, and then he was FURIOUS! “Those shitty Gods!” James screamed in his fury. His tantrum was interrupted by an arrow nearly hitting him from the wall, he turned to see someone standing on the wall looking down on him bows drawn.
James was furious, Heteromorphs were not supposed to be this hard, not yet anyway. He caught the arrow this time, the archer visibly recoiling. Yep he was a player. James remembered the horn still in his other hand. There was a great cry as hundreds of players were running down the street right toward the open gate and him. James smiled.
Pointing to the sky defiantly James declared, “If you’re going to fuck me over like this then don’t complain when you get what’s coming to you! I declare I will kill every one of you save for two!” He declared, for one was innocent, and the other deserved a chance to make amends. More notifications.
The gods have heard your threat, and do not take such things lightly.
Your race has been changed to Fallen Angel.
Your title “Angelic Defender” has been revoked
Because of the “Blessing of Fenrir”, “Angelic Defender” is restored but changed to “Fenrir’s Defender”.
Fenrir’s Defender- You see what is wrong with the world and seek out to make it right. +25% to party and or guilds stats. Any player who slays you and those in your guild and or party that are of the Wolf type, or similar types, will suffer the same penalty as if the roles were reversed.
You have been branded with the title, “World Enemy”
World Enemy- The gods have called for your death for you threaten their very lives. +25% EXP from all sources to the player who kills you. -25% EXP from all sources for you. Your Karma has been set to -1 and can no longer rise into the positives.

Loki has seen the great chaos you are soon to bring and smiles upon you. You are granted the “Blessing of Loki”.
An unexpected voice greeted his ears, “Defend my child, free him, and I will grant you whatever you so desire, within my power of course. Well talk later.” The voice was serious at the beginning but grew joyous and happy towards the end of the sentence.
Tyr has heard your decree. You have received “Tyr’s Blessing”
Tyr’s Blessing- You are a servant of greater good. Though you may commit acts that seem evil they are in service to the betterment of the realms. You no longer suffer the penalties of negative Karma.
Another unexpected voice greeted his ears, “Take my blessing and make right my wrong.” James tried something uncertain if it would even work. “He misses you still, even after what you did.” There was silence then the voice returned, “I would gratefully accept any punishment he gave me.” The voice of who could only be Tyr was cracking as he wept. Then there was silence.
Penalties imposed by the title “World Enemy” countered by “Tyr’s Blessing”, “Blessing of Loki”, and “Blessing of Fenrir”.
Your Karma has been restored to normal because of, “Tyr’s Blessing”.
James saw as his wings turned from grey to black as night. “Greater good aye?” James smiled, lifted “Fenrir’s Howl” to his lips, and blew. The sound was earth shaking but it did not affect his nearly as much as it affected those charging him. Left and right they all dropped to their knees clutching their ears.
A prompt presented itself asking which option he would like to use he had but a single word of response, “All.”
Suddenly there was a legion, 6000, of Dire Werewolves behind him and several next to him. The ones next to him stood still for a moment before one spoke up. “You’re the guy we were supposed to kill. Apparently now we are supposed to help you. Crazy huh?” The apparently female werewolf player then looked her body over and those of her compatriots, “The special racial class, and bonuses we apparently get for helping you make it worth more to us though, right boys!”
She was meet with cheer’s and roars from the other players next to them. The others chiming in that they would gladly follow him. “We all found each other and were just about head out to hunt when all this went down.”
James was elated. Oh, how the tables had turned. James looked to the players beside him and spoke, “Let’s show these bastards not to look down on us!” Suddenly a shadow fell upon him he turned to see a particularly large Dire Werewolf standing in front of him smoke coming from his back.
The first to speak was one of the players next to him, “Holy fuck, that guy moved fast as shit!” James looked to the player then back to the Dire Werewolf NPC. He inspected the creature, only to learn it was a level 50 Dire Werewolf General with the title, “Fenrir’s Avatar”. Apparently the general for the legion had become Fenrir’s Avatar. James smiled, “Perfect!” He turned back to the legion, and noticed they were all level 25. Oh, those gods would regret this day.
James turned back to the hoard of players frozen in fear outside the city gates. James had not considered taking over a town as his guild base and taking that to the new world, but he was not one to waste a grand opportunity such as this.
He looked up to the general, no Fenrir’s avatar, and spoke for all to hear. “I trust you will instruct the wolves to leave the shop keepers alone, and deal as little damage to the city as possible?” Fenrir’s avatar was silent for a moment then spoke, “If you think it is necessary, I will see to it.” James smiled and gave the order. “Kill them all and secure the town, except the shopkeepers of course.”
Fenrir’s Avatar howled and the legion howled with him. The ground shook as they advanced. James called to the players before they left. “Hey at least one of you guy has to stay with me. If I die twice then all this new power, you have is gone.” They stopped at his words and reluctantly the female leader and two of guys remained while the other six holding for a moment to see if there was anything else. “As for the rest of you guys, go collect the drops, you can have most of it, but I reserve the right to take some stuff for myself.”
The Dire werewolf players, nodded and said, “Yeah that’s fair.” Then continued their way, splitting up to cover more ground.
“I’ve been forgetting to ask, what are you guys names?” “I’m Sasha long claw, he’s Silver, and he’s Black.” James looked at her two remaining party members. They were Silver and Black, respectively, in color. “Really, Silver and Black not very creative guy.” To which they both responded, “Neither is James!” “Touché.”
James thought about trying to get a better view, but quickly decided against it. It would make him a far easier target. Then again. He climbed Fenrir’s back, who was currently looking toward the city and all the players being about to be slain. Fenrir reached back to grab him, “It’s only me, I’m trying to get a better look, and you’re much tougher than me right now.” The arm stopped and returned to its previous position, crossed upon his chest.
(Author’s note: I am just going to call the avatar of Fenrir, Fenrir for simplicity.)
James beheld as the carnage unfolded players being slain left and right. Then came the EXP notifications. Apparently, he received a small amount of EXP for every creature they slayed. They quickly overran the hoard of players the NPC’s had tried to close the gates to the city, emphasis on tired.
His legion moved through the gate like a stream, while some climbed the wall and killed the city guards. He suspected that Fenrir could assert direct control over the other NPC’s as two of the Dire Werewolves began to turn the wheels responsible for closing and opening the gates. Allowing even greater numbers of his legion to pour through the gates.
Within 20 minutes he received the notification he had been waiting for since he had given the attack order. Alongside several level ups of course.
Congratulations you have successfully captured the city of Mistra. You may now make the city into your guild base. Calculating Variables...
Unsurprisingly the voice of the Administrator chimed in. “Well I wasn’t expecting this today. Thanks a lot now we must move the beginner’s spawn point. Anyway, while the others are working on that,” A long sigh, “I must talk to you. I did not think I would have to talk to the same player twice in any span of time let alone the same day!”
“Oh my, then you will hate the things I have planned.” James said with an evil grin. “I don’t even want to know.” Clearly this man was not having a good day because of him. “Hey what’s your name?” “MY name? We aren’t allowed to tell you our names.” “Come on you know who I am, and I can always just find you in the real world.” Several seconds and some soft sounds of muffled voices later, “My name is Yoshi Nokamora.”
