《12 Hand Asura》Towards The Capital

Currently, Zio has many things going in his mind, the death of his clan, about his future, and what steps he needs to take, and also about what Asura said to him about the meteor.
Someone was behind it, this was not natural, this was either intentional or accident and if this was really intentional, Zio wondered who could this be, why would they do this, why did they target a small clan that lives outside of the city and completely separated from the world, what did they have to gain from this.
Clan Asura has no enemies, they have been leaving in peace for quite a long time now and no one bothered them except the Clian who wanted their land three years ago and they are not strong enough to pull out a meteor from outer space and into the planet's atmosphere and strike their village.
And they would also not send their own duke out to commit suicide if they were really the ones behind it, Clian family were just too unlucky and decided to go to war with Clan Asura and their duke died, Clian family was not behind it.
But in Zio's eyes, they are bad, they tried to take away his land and even tried to kill his clan by going to war against them.
Clian family is on his list and when the time comes he will take care of them.
Zio decided to head towards the Capital and see what is going on in the capital, from what he heard from the old man, the royal families in the capital are at each other's throats, especially the two grand dukes and their family.
The only reason why he is going there is that it is the closet city from here and if Zio wants to grow stronger he needs to learn about the world and how it works, a single person can be as powerful as he wants but without the knowledge of the world and how it works, they will be left behind.

Asura told Zio to learn and observe the world around him, see what people do, listen to what people talk about as this is all-important to understand the nature of people, and how they interact with each other whether they are friends or foes.
Before Zio left the old man gave him some rough clothes to wear as Zio is only wearing is the old white fur coat that he got from the white bear three years ago.
After wearing the clothes he left for the city saying his goodbye to the laborers who helped him during his breakdown, even though the clothes that they gave him were a little tattered, they did help him cover most of his body, only revealing some of his chest, arms, and legs.
After bidding farewell to the laborers Zio headed towards the capital city of Navira, where the riches and the poorest people of the country can be found.
It didn't take Zio long before he reached the outer walls of the city, as he looked around the area he was surprised by how vast and open the ground here was, he didn't know but this is a very common thing as cities try to keep a massive amount of space open before the city as it is a strategic advantage if someone tries to attack them.
Higher ground is always better, Zio saw a massive wall in front of him, but this wall was not perfect, it was broken and he could see a lot of people working around the walls, trying to rebuild it.
The damage done by the meteor crash was massive and the destruction it left behind was devastating, the capital survived because the wall they had built before was very big and thick, which absorbed most of the crash's impact.

Now it looks like they are trying to make it even bigger than before.
Zio soon got close to the entrance of the city, he saw many people walk in and out of the massive gate, most of these people were travelers and merchants, the back gate of the city was not isolated from the rest of the world, it leads to other cities from the capital, but this didn't mean that other forces could use these routes to attack the capital from behind.
The planner of the city was very clever, whoever made this knew how to take advantage of the terrain around the place, with Mount Asura right behind them, they didn't have to worry about any foreign forces attacking from behind but they also wanted to create other routes that led to other cities if the capital did fall after getting attacked by a powerful force.
So they made a one-way route that is connected to the back of the capital which leads to other cities that are on the edge of the country just like the capital and protected by Mount Asura, the people of those cities have to pass through the capital if they want to go anywhere north of the capital to do anything.
This way the kingdom was able to use its terrain to defend itself many times.
Zio noticed a lot of these people that are getting into the city are carrying huge loads on carts, he could also see a group of people standing together talking and laughing around, it looked like they were adventures.
Zio had heard about these people who travel all around the world from his father.
Without wasting any time Zio quickly joined the queue to enter the city.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

Magic and monsters, allies and enemies, romance and danger, all of it just on the other side of a simple door. "Wear these bracers with pride.” the half-orc slid first one bracer and then the other over Isa’s forearms. “Fight with your heart,” he said as he pulled the laces tight. “And come back with a story to tell. That is what an adventurer does.” ....... **** Thank you for reading, and if you like the story, please rate and review. Isa and I would both like to level up! This story uses the 5th Edition Open Gaming License for game mechanics. I roll dice for combat outcomes and all skill checks.... which is sometimes surprising!
