《P I G S》13. Don't look

I heard Wilson’s voice however I didn’t turn around. He kept talking “Please turn around I wanna show you something!”.
I kept picking berries and told Wilson “Can you show me in the church.”
I thought of turning around for a moment however, something felt wrong. The rule kept repeating in my head and I felt something would go wrong if I looked behind me.
Also, where was Annabelle? I felt Wilson touch my shoulder as he kept pestering me.
After a while of his pestering, I was about to turn around to tell him to go away when I heard Ezra’s voice “Do not turn around Dante, no matter what. Slowly with your head down and eyes closed walk back to the church. You remember the direction right?”.
Surprised he was back already I told him I could and started doing that.
I closed my eyes and put my hands out so that I wouldn’t fall. I had the berry basket in my left hand. I felt Wilson shake it trying to get me to open my eyes.
I ignored him and kept walking. He started tugging really hard on the basket. It didn’t feel like a kid tugging anymore.
He sounded mad as he said, “Look at me, Dante!”.
Now I knew something was wrong and I contemplated dropping the basket and getting to the church as fast as possible.
As I thought this I heard somebody slap Wilson’s hand as he let go of the basket and started crying.
I felt a firm hand on my back as Ezra said “Keep walking.”
We eventually got to the church and walked inside. I finally opened my eyes to see Ezra. He was standing there with a few water bottles in his hand.
No one else was in the church yet except us two as we still had a bit until the bell rang. “What was that about?”

I asked Ezra. “I had a suspicion since he brought in the pig but I would recommend not trusting Annabelle or Wilson for the rest of our time here.”
Annabelle and Wilson? I thought about how Annabelle had believed me earlier with the pig and how she had woken me up for dinner.
For me to treat her kindness with mistrust felt wrong. I told Ezra “I will keep that in mind.”
He seemed to think that was good enough and he took my berries and the water and started making lunch early.
It was Jack’s and Cheryl’s turn on lunch duty but, it seemed that Ezra was going to take their turn for them.
I decided to help him as I thought about his words. Wilson felt strange to me but Annabelle?
I didn’t know if I believed him but he has saved my life multiple times so I decided to put my trust in him.
After a bit, we managed to finish lunch as people started coming back. The first people to come back were Jack and Cheryl.
They were surprised to see that lunch had already been made when it was their turn however they didn’t complain and thanked me and Ezra.
Jack still seemed a little suspicious of Ezra but it was understandable when he was going outside every night.
I chatted with Cheryl for a bit and we decided to wait for the others before we started eating. As the bell rang the Albino girl came on almost as if the bell for her.
Know that I thought about it she pretty much every day she came back exactly as the bell rang. I never knew what she did on her hour.
I knew that Jack and Cheryl would either help get food, water, or firewood. Annabelle and Wilson would play together every day.

Although they weren’t very helpful Annabelle kept Wilson in check which I thanked her for. Speaking of those two the bell had already range and neither heard.
Jack and Cheryl seemed worried about them. However, Ezra seemed unworried. I thought about his words even more seeing that they weren’t here.
They eventually showed up a few minutes late.
Cheryl was about to ask Annabelle where they were however Annabelle started talking first “Sorry about being late. Wilson ran away for a moment and then came back crying. I lost track of time and I had to carry him back here.”.
Wilson who was still crying as he held Annabelle’s hand pointed at Ezra with his free hand and cried “Ezra hit me!”.
Annabelle and the other two seemed shocked at what she said.
The albino girl seemed unsurprised, I was about to defend Ezra when he spoke up “He was bothering Dante by shaking his berry basket so I slapped his hand away so that Dante could carry it back.”
The group turned to me to see if he was telling the truth and I nodded my head in agreement at his words.
Annabelle seemed to understand and said “sorry for this boy’s actions he is a bit carefree and doesn’t think about his actions would affect others. Wilson apologize to Dante for causing him trouble.”
Wilson looked at me for a moment before saying “No! He took away my friend!”.
He then looked away and refused to speak anymore. Annabelle sighed and apologized to me I just shook my head that it was alright and laughed it off.
Cheryl said, “Stil I feel like Ezra shouldn’t have hit Wilson that doesn’t seem to be very nice.”
Ezra shrugged and said, “That’s how my father treated me as a kid so that’s how I acted”.
He didn’t seem as if he wanted to talk anymore and Cheryl unhappily started to eat.
As we were about to start eating Annabelle had a look on her face as if she remembered something. She then reached into her pocket and pulled something out.
It was meat

I am...*sigh* a speck of dust.
Hey, I'm...well, I'm not human anymore so I don't suppose that name matters. Anyway, just call me D. Why? Cause I'm dust. Not like, "Oh, no one notices me, it's like I'm dust in the air", but like..actually just a speck of dust. Nothing exciting going on, no action packed fights or cringey romances. Just...dust. I have a little system menu and everything, like all the 'OP' protagonists, but I mostly use it for the notes feature. Like right now. So, if anyone ever sees this, like, if the System stores it somewhere or whatever, just move along. Nothing special here.
