《P I G S》12. Distrust

Shocked at the sight in front of me I could only say three words “what the fuck happened?”.
I ran over and grabbed the pug it get it away from him. It tried to bite my hand and as it did I realized. It had sharp teeth.
Was this even a pig? I thought as I closed its mouth shout so it couldn’t bite me. It tried squealing however it was muffled and hard to hear.
Soon Cheryl woke up. She saw me holding the pig with blood on its face and the dead chameleon man. She looked in shock for a second before screaming.
Her scream woke up everybody else. They all got up slowly and saw the sight of me holding the pig.
Ezra who seemed to have it the most together asked me “What happened Dante?”
I looked at him and said, “I-I don’t know I woke and the pig was eating Amar I think although his face is a chameleon I-I really don’t know what happened.”
Cheryl said, “But how could a pig eat a person? His teeth can’t be that sharp are you telling the truth?”
Surprised that she didn’t believe in me I thought for a moment about how to prove it and then I remembered the pig.
I showed her the blood on its face and I pushed up his teeth so that everyone could see his razor-sharp teeth. They looked in shock some even audibly gasped.
Annabelle then brought up an interesting point “I believe you, Dante, even though it is shocking if we assume that thing is Amar then couldn’t anyone be one of those things?”
Her words put instant distrust between everyone. I noticed that Jack who was typically in the background signed something to Cheryl.

Cheryl seemed surprised however, she turned to Ezra and said “Did you go out last night?”
Surprised at what she said I turned to Ezra and he said, “I did”.
I was shocked I knew he was strange but, now I felt like I couldn’t trust anyone. Anyone could have been one of these creatures.
The tension in the room raised Wilson however, seemed uninterested in the whole thing. I also noticed that this was the only death so far that Annabelle and Wilson didn’t cry about.
Before the tension could rise even further the albino girl started talking “there is no point in arguing about it. Do not commit a sin that is the rule. Human or creature doesn’t matter you break it you die. If you worry about it too much then the creatures win. Honestly the fact that Ezra told the truth should mean that you should trust him more than anyone else here.”
Shocked at what she said and how she broke a rule by bringing up another rule was shocking. It felt like she knew something that we didn’t know.
Most people seemed to take her words of advice however, Jack still looked at Ezra with suspicious eyes. After that topic was finished the next one came up.
I spoke, “What do we do with the pig?”.
Wilson said, “We can’t keep him?”
His eyes steering at he said that. It felt like Wilson had no care that it killed somebody and if I was being honest I wanted to punt him.
However, hurting children was a bad thing even if I didn’t deal with them very well.
As Wilson was starting to cry Ezra looked at me with confidence and said “I can take care of both the body and pig it’s the least I can do for the distrust I caused earlier.”

I could see it in his eyes he was going to kill the pig. I looked at him for a moment before thinking about how he saved my life.
I handed him the pig and said “Careful it bites.”
He took it and the body outside.
As he did Wilson cried “Don’t! I wanna keep Willy he’s my best friend!”.
I turned to him and said, “Willy has to go back to his family now. You would understand, right? He probably feels very homesick and want’s to see his mommy and daddy.”
I knew I was telling him a bold-faced lie, however, It didn’t matter the pig was a problem and I wasn’t gonna risk telling him we were killing it and having him cry all night.
Wilson looked at for a moment and muttered and very sad “okay”
Ezra came back and was wiping something off his hands.
Afterward, we all just went and did our thing until it was our hour of freedom. I just sat there and reflected upon past events.
These past few days have really been the craziest days of my life. I don’t think I had ever feared the future so much before.
Eventually, the sound of meta started and our hour of freedom began.
---------------------------
Today was supposed to be my turn on grabbing water however, I didn’t dare step into the forest to do it. If I was being honest I was afraid before but the bear made me truly horrified.
Ezra walked up to me and said “I will do it for you.”
I told him my thanks and went to harvest some berries. It was getting a bit more difficult to find berries. We would just be able to make it to the end if we ate scarcely enough.
I was slowly finding berries and putting them in the basket when I heard footsteps behind me. They were fast as if someone was running towards me.
It freaked me out for a second however I didn’t look back as I knew the church was behind me and the gun would shoot anything trying to harm me.
When the thing arrived at me I heard a young voice call out to me “Dante, can you turn around please”.
It was Wilson.
