《Stuck in a zombie world with an OP shop》Chapter 3

Without many other opens, Ryan descends to as close to the zombies as possible without them being able to reach him if they reached up. Ryan still doesn't know if the zombies can climb the ladder, but he suspects it's that they can't.
Once about four feet from the closet zombie to the bottom of the stairs, Ryan clips himself to the ladder and dangles himself upside down. With his left hand, he stabilizes himself, and with his right hand, he takes a hammer from his pocket. With the hammer in his hand, Ryan slams the skull of a zombie with the nail-pulling end.
'This better earn me something,' Ryan thinks as he embeds the tail of his hammer deep inside the zombie's head. When Ryan pulls the hammer from the zombie's skull, a small ding goes off in his head.
>Earned 5 ₵
Ryan ignores the text while he attempts to pull his hammer from the zombie's skull, and is just barely able to pull it out before the hand of another zombie reaches for his outstretched arm.
'Maybe a dagger would be better for this,' Ryan thinks, and he opens the shop again to the weapons tab.
'Purchase Iron Dagger' Ryan thinks, but is unable to purchase the dagger.
>Not enough credits. Current balance: 5 ₵
Ryan looks at his balance amount with empty eyes.
'This is going to take a while.' Ryan thinks, and aims his hammer for another unsuspecting zombie.
>Earned 5 ₵
And so, Ryan kept hacking away at the skulls from zombies. He'd bring his hammer tail into their brain and pull it out before any zombie could reach for his arm. The processes was slow, but he gradually gained an amount of credits.
'How much does a cheeseburger cost?' Ryan wondered after killing his fifth zombie. he only had 25 credits, but he was very hungry after working so hard.

>Items
>Cheeseburger, 50 ₵
'Maybe I need a cheaper cheeseburger,' Ryan thought, and tried to think about a very cheep cheeseburger from a fast food restaurant.
>Items
>Cheap Cheeseburger, 10 ₵
>Cheeseburger, 50 ₵
'That's a little better,' Ryan thought and purchased the cheap cheeseburger. This time, he held out his hand and had had the burger materialize in his hand, allowing him to eat it without much extra effort.
'This is going to take a long time,' Ryan gave one more thought after eating the cheeseburger and going back to killing zombies.

Dark Matter
In the year 2023, scientists investigating the nature of dark matter caused a blackout throughout the entire world of Coranth. With this blackout came the appearance of supernatural and near-magical elemental abilities able to be wielded by all. By harnessing the dark matter in the environment, even ordinary humans now accessed powers that would have been deemed fantasy. These abilities include Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Terra, being the five natural elements of which dark matter is absorbed by the planet itself. Additionally, the two moons orbiting Coranth offer the "Superior" elements of Dark and Light. The year is now 2041, and Dark Matter will follow the story of an adolescent boy named Raiden Sullivan in a dystopian future, 16 years old, eldest of 2, and son to Marcus Sullivan. Raiden is an intelligent young man belonging to a poor family with an absentee mother. He partakes in daily chores to cover living expenses after school and his home life is surrounded by his caring father and younger sister. In truth, this is my take on urban fantasy with slight LitRPG that keeps the "magic" elements somewhat scientific for a more realistic story. In using the dark matter surrounding our universe, humans can now harness elemental abilities as well as absorb dark matter from the beasts/monsters to further strengthen their abilities. For the most part, that'll be the main premise of the power system. Full transparency, this will be the first story I write and also the first story I publish, so please be patient with me. For some context, I'm an avid reader and after 4 or so years of only consuming, I feel that it might be time to try my hand at writing instead. Please feel free to add your opinions and criticism, it would be much appreciated. With that said, I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
