《Mega Cringe: Dab》Chapter 2.11 - New World New Dab

Terin and Copy didn't share his excitement. Slavurai had her usual disinterested expression. In her mind this was no different than changing sectors. She was just waiting to see what she'll have to do and if it's worth her time. To Arthur's disappointment there were no RPG-like elements. It was the same as their original world. Disappointed but not dispirited he exclaimed.
“We need to discuss classes now! I will obviously be a mage. Since I am wise and everything. Terin will be a striker. And Copy will be a healer.”
“Why do I have to be a healer? Only a masochist plays support classes. I want to be something useful like a ranger.”
“You are protesting a lot lately. Are you sure there is nothing wrong with your code? You should go check yourself. Also it's obvious that a girl should be a healer, girls are kinder and more compassionate than man so that makes it a perfect class for them.”
Copy wanted to complain and point out everything wrong with what he said but Radojka didn't give her a chance to. She already decided on her class.
“I will be gunner class.”
“There were no guns in medieval times, maybe there is a magical… What?”
Arthur was speechless. She pulled out a semi automatic sniper rifle from her bag. The width of the gun barely fit the bag but the length was nowhere near the size of the bag. He knew her bag could fit lots of things but this was too much.
“No, you can't use guns. We came to a world with magic. We won't have any other chance to use magic. Magic is cool, we shouldn’t waste this opportunity!”
“How is magic cool? You can do everything you can do with magic with technology instead.”
Terin was watching them argue from the side. It was strange. The behavior of everyone changed after they heard the news of the meme ban. He knew Copy and Arthur for a couple of days but he felt like they were together for years and that he knew everything about them. But now all of that changed. He disliked this change. He himself felt like he was changing. Monotonous and simple lifestyle is what he dreamed off. This wasn't natural but for now he didn't know anything about. Worrying about something you can't change is pointless. He tuned back in the argument.
“Alright but you can't summon a giant meteorite storm with technology.”
“Cousin Anatoli has truck that can shoot 180 rockets in minute. That is worse.”
“I could also do it myself too before I got destroyed and repaired!”
“Enough of this pointless arguing! We came here to do a job not play games!” - It was strange for Terin to be angry. He knew this wasn't normal but him being angry felt natural. Once again he couldn't understand what was going on. This phenomenon started happening after he accepted Dab Spirit. As soon as this mission was over he needed to investigate it.
“Cousin Anatoli messaged me. He says we need to drink to celebrate potential new job. Good luck.”
She went back through the portal and soon after it closed. Once it closed it revealed an asphalt road leading to a huge metropolis. They had a choice. Take the dirt road leading into the forest or go towards civilization. Arthur wanted to head into the forest and Copy didn't. Terin was sick of constant arguing so he made a choice that will please them both. Splitting up. Arthur used to wander the world alone so he had no problems with it.

“I don't have to tell you this but if you find a place where we need to teleport out contact us first before going in.”
“How will I reach you? I will be away from civilization there won't be a signal.”
“You will be able to because technology!.”
What she said made no sense but before he could inquire further she stepped on the asphalt road and disappeared. Terin didn't know what she meant either so he couldn’t explain and just followed her. Stepping on the road Copy appeared once again. He looked back and Arthur was gone. This world seemed to be split into two worlds.
The far away city now appeared closer. To Terin and Copy it looked like a large sector consisting only of towers. But the towers in their world were taller and most defied reason. These towers were ordered and symmetrical. Sector towers relied on technology to keep standing, but it was obvious that these towers were standing because of how well they are built.
They got closer and saw a sign next to the road. “Welcome to City of England”. Once they passed it alarms started blaring. Soon after military trucks carrying soldiers and tanks got on the road. They were all aiming towards Terin and Copy. The road ahead of them was blocked. The military was aiming at them from far away but made no more moves. They didn't know the enemy's strength or if there were any EU workers there so they didn't make any moves. Even if they weren't strong the tank shells would send them flying. It was impossible to get closer. Somebody moved forward and spoke in a megaphone.
“Display your student ID or leave this city immediately. Failure to cooperate will result in your death. You have 60 seconds.”
They didn't have any student ID or knew what it was. Something inside Terin was telling him to throw Copy at them and fight it out but he controlled himself. His identity crisis seems to be weakening. He already had a plan to get inside. They were going to dig underground until they reach the city. He informed Copy of his plan.
“Hmm? Dig underground? But aren't you claustrophobic, did you cure yourself?”
He was so concentrated on remaining the way he thought he was that he forgot about that detail. A moment of distraction and he lost it again. He felt rage again. It was so natural. Maybe it happens to him often but he just forgot about those times.
“New plan, let's go bowling.”
Copy understood what he meant and transformed into a ball. He threw her like a baseball ball towards one of the tanks. She was lighter than before and flew through the air with the speed of a bullet. Terin was going to charge at them but one of the tanks shot. It was a direct hit on Copy. She was sent back to Terin. The man with a megaphone spoke again.
“You have 10 seconds left to comply.”
Being able to not only see but also precisely shoot Copy moving at that speed meant that these weren't ordinary soldiers. One tank shell wasn't enough to damage Copy but continuous damage will eventually destroy her. On top of that they didn't become hostile even after Terin launched his attack. Terin was furious but not stupid. It was foolish to engage in that fight. They backed off behind the board. The army dispersed but some tanks and infantry remained to keep watch. Terin still had another plan. He was the Dab Master. Solving problems with his dabs and not his fists.

“Hang on to me.”
Copy grabbed him. She had no clue what he was going to do. He started moving backwards and she followed. Just as they were going to hit the border to the forest world Terin dabbed. In the next moment they were falling through the air. Teleport Dab. Terin's dab was fast, but the speed of teleportation was nowhere near the Edgelord's. But it was enough. The soldiers were fooled into thinking that they left and there were no alarms. They landed on one of the skyscrapers.
“Damn, how many dab techniques do you know?”
“There is only one more that you don't know about. But now we need to focus getting deeper into the city. This is all probably some sort of a fort and in the center is the server room teleportation point. Use your new stealth improvements and scout the area.”
She nodded her head and disappeared into the building. Terin checked out his surroundings. Everywhere around him were identical buildings. Some were taller than others but the design was the same. Far into the distance he could make out a clearing. The roads were straight so once Copy exited the building she could discern what exactly is in the clearing. He got near the edge and peeked under him. No people, just an empty road with a sidewalk.
Seeing this emptiness he felt empty himself. He should be surprised by that feeling but it also came naturally. Feelings like anger and sadness were natural for humans but Terin had no reason to feel them. He was content with his life. He enjoyed his job and did the things he wanted to. It wasn't always fun but he was happy. And now for the first time he felt sad. He felt sad about how these past few days he never got to appreciate the dab for what it was. He was either training it or using it in a fight. Before he didn't care about it, but why did it happen now?
“Wow, the famous Dab Master can be sad too? I thought that was impossible!” - Copy returned from scouting. - “This entire building is just filled with power generators but I don't know what they are powering or how they generate power. There is nobody inside or outside either. Straight up from here is a wall guarding some building. On the wall there is a sign asking people to prepare their student ID.”
“It's the same thing as what the guards asked us for. Judging by the name it must have something to do with a school. But that military force and all these power generators, it can't simply be a school.”
It was time for them to move. Moving on the ground was too risky so they jumped from building to building. There was a 3 meter jump between each building but that wasn't a problem for dab empowered Terin and Copy. For taller buildings Copy just used her grappling hook. Soon after they reached the mysterious building.
It was a large building. But it was wider and shorter than the ones surrounding it. There were 3 floors in total. It had both natural and concrete parks around it. And there were also people in there, mostly teenagers. It looked like a school. The teenagers wore uniforms, while the adults wore suits.
They didn't know what would happen if they forcefully broke in or if they could. It was currently noon, if this was a school that meant it will end soon. All they had to do was wait for the students to leave and steal their student ID card and sneak in with it.
A few hours passed and a bell rang once again. This time it signified the end of school. Lots of people were leaving the school. Terin couldn't believe his eyes. The number of students was huge. It was at least a hundred thousand. The school building was huge but there was no way it could fit that many people. Some of them were moving towards the exit while others just moved to another part of the building. It was time for them to begin their work.
They had to find their target first. Copy looked for someone weak and isolated. Looks can be deceiving but she didn't care. Everyone walked in a group except for one student. He had black hair and a scrawny looking body. His elbow was the largest part of his arm. It was a perfect target.
They followed him from the building tops until he was far away from other people and military. While following him they found out that some people would walk inside the buildings. Copy checked them and saw that there are living quarters instead of power generators in some. The living conditions weren't bad but the only luxury inside them were decent food.
The black haired student kept walking until he reached the edge of the city. It was time to act. Copy wanted to just pickpocket him and move on but Terin didn’t want to bully the kid. They would try being nice first. They descended quickly, causing the ground to shake. The quake scared the kid, he wanted to run inside his building but he gathered enough courage to turn around. Since he didn’t run away Copy didn’t want to give him a chance to do it later so she blocked his escape route.
“Give us your student ID or else...” - He wasn’t aggressive but the words themselves in this situation made it very scary, especially when spoken in a cold tone. Terin was aware of this since he wanted to break him quickly.
“This is your nice way? Damn, don’t wanna be there when you are not asking nicely.”
“Please, anything but that. Don’t take my ID!” - the kid was more nervous than spooked. He didn’t understand why he didn’t want to give his ID under this pressure. He lives here, so couldn’t he just say he lost his ID and get a new one? Those IDs probably aren’t as simple as he thought about it. He asked him about it.
“Huh, you don’t know about student IDs? Aren’t you also students here?”
“Do I look like a student?” - Terin wasn’t old but he definitely couldn’t pass as a teenager. Once he said that Copy joined the conversation. - “Oooh, so that’s why you look weird. I noticed something was strange about you but didn’t want to offend you so I didn’t say anything. It’s because you became younger since we entered the city.” - He didn’t care about being younger so he urged the kid to explain the IDs.
“Student ID is necessary to prove you are go to the School. The School is a place where people study until they graduate. Each year the strongest people graduate and move into another world and they are treated as Gods. But graduating is difficult, the closer you are to the School the higher chance you have to graduate. Without your Student ID you can’t graduate, and if somebody takes it away you are their slave until you manage to take it back somehow. That’s why I will never give you my Student ID! I will definitely graduate.”
The kid looked courageous for the first time since they saw him. They’d be impressed by his words if they weren’t on the edge of the city. Judging by what he said he was obviously the weakest person here, there was no chance of graduating for him.
“Is there a way for us to get these Student IDs for ourselves?” - Terin didn’t like bullying the weak but he had a job to do. If he had to take this kid’s ID he will do it. But first he wanted to see all the other options. - “Yes, you have to take the entrance exam first. But it’s extremely difficult for outsiders to pass it.”
“I have a deal for you. You have been here for a long time it seems. Once we pass the entrance exam you will teach us everything about this school and give us information we need and in return we’ll help you achieve your goal of graduating.”
“Deal. Also you can stay in my apartment for tonight if you want.” - His original fear disappeared but he was still a bit nervous. Terin and Copy accepted his offer. They needed to properly rest for tomorrow's entrance exam.
