《The Spirit Veil [The Akh Chronicles: Book 1]》14

The three of us ended up having a nice lunch under the tree where I had been sitting. By that I mean me and Arthur ate while Lydia pretended not to watch since she's a ghost and ghosts don't eat food. Annoyingly, she was still very curious about how food tasted and spent half of the meal pestering us. [Yes, you do! . . . Don't even try to deny it, Ly. You wish you could still eat so you get jealous . . . Do to . . . Do to . . . DO TO! Okay, we can continue this later. I'm trying to tell a story, remember?] Ignore her. I do.
Where was I? [Ugh! See, now you've made me forget where I'm up to! Did I tell them about Naomie finding us? . . . Oh shit. Spoilers. Oops. I'll delete that later.]
So, after the very annoying meal which ended with both myself and my cousin wishing our ghost friend had a physical form so we could strangle her, we started to head back to the car. Arthur and Lydia had given up arguing over the maps and had instead given them to me to keep in the bag I was carrying. Why they did that, I still don't know, but I figured it was so they didn't start arguing again which was an idea I was totally on board with.
When reached the car after a few minutes of walking and I placed the bag at my feet before getting into the passenger seat. Arthur had just turned the key when we noticed someone walking towards us. They were shadow-like at first, but the shadow quickly became a familiar form.
"Naomie!" Lydia exclaimed.
"Quick! Hit her!"
Arthur gave me his 'what the actual fuck' face at my comment.
"What?" I asked. "It's a perfectly reasonable reaction."

"Uh-huh," he said. "Remind me again how you're not a psychopath." [Seriously, that was painful. Oh, don't give me that look!]
I huffed, turning away and crossing my arms. "We're I a psycho, my dear cousin, I'm sure you wouldn't notice." Arthur muttered something I chose not to hear before I spoke again. "We're in a car. Could you at least do something useful with it?"
"Like drive away?"
We both turned to Lydia, though Arthur quickly gave me a look that told me his idea was the best idea. I huffed again as he changed gears, placing the car into drive. He pretended to not have seen Naomie and, instead, acted surprise when he had to drive around her. His acting skills were good and all, but I had certainly seen better. Strangely, the woman didn't try to stop us. Even so, just to be safe, my cousin took the long way back to our hotel.
When we got back to our room, I let Arthur and Lydia have their maps back before collapsing on my bed with a good book and chocolate milk. I needed a distraction if they were going to start battling again. I was so glad I did because they were at it for what felt like hours. [Yes, you were . . . Don't get sassy with me, young lady. That's my move]. I half-paid attention to their conversation and was able to make out snippets of the arguments that went something along these lines:
Arthur: "It's gotta be done here!"
Lydia: "Are you kidding? That won't work! Why don't we -"
Arthur: "Are you crazy?"
Lydia: "Well, when I lived in Atlantis, we needed to put the crystals in a certain pattern."
Arthur: "What would we even take with us if we went there? A magic wand?"

Lydia: "Ha. Ha. Ha. Look at how hilarious I find that."
Arthur: "I don't want to be stuck in the Spirit World!"
By this stage, I had long-since finished my second glass of milk and was halfway through my book. Even so, I decided that now was a good time to step in. I put my book on the bed beside me and sat upright, dangling my feet over the side of the bed. "What's this about going to the Spirit World?"
Lydia was kind enough to explain while Arthur sulked on the side. "It is quite possible, if we are too close to the portal to the Spirit World when it opens, that we will be sucked into it and trapped beyond the Veil."
"That would be bad, right?"
"Of course, it would be bad!" Arthur exclaimed, jumping up and shaking my shoulders. "It would be very bad to be stuck in the world of the dead!"
I gave him a sideways smile. "I thought we lived in the world of the dead."
For a second, I thought he would start laughing. The second passed. "I'm serious, Aurora! We would be trapped there with no way back at all."
I cringed internally. "Yeah, I got it. But you gotta lighten up a bit. All that negativity will bring about the end of the world." Quite literally.

Football System
Follow your dreams only to get stuck halfway is not something that anyone wants. David Hunter was someone like that, his dream was to play in the first league of the European league. Either with giants of Barcelona or Real Madrid. Some dreams only stay like that, only to dream no matter how hard you try. Or do they? ************************* I write this for my own amusement, if you like to read things to pass time, you are welcome to have a look. Schedule? IDK man, 1 chapter every day if I have enough time. 2 chapters per week!PS: I posted this story on webnovel.com too, so I can reach more people!

Vemödalen: From The Other Side
War is coming - And when it comes - And where it comes - And whence it comes - The living shall envy the dead One to carry their sword in the name of their goddess and lady, to protect their land and people against the threat of the wicked. They know their path to be the righteous one. One to roam the land, hunting for all apparitions, and be scorned by man and beast alike. They know their path to be an arduous one. One to wander the realm in search of power, to protect themselves and what they believe in. They know their path to be the only one. Writers note: The first chapter will set the standard in terms of mood for the remainder of the story. It also comes to no surprise to me that half the people who read the first part stop reading any further. It has quite a bit of the good ‘ol ‘ultra-violence’ mixed with a great deal of realism. As much as I could fit into it from my own knowledge and experience in the elite forces. The first few chapters will be slow, after, but starting from ‘Restless Destroyer’ the remainder of the world will start to open up, and when we hit ‘Adronitis’ the prologue is largely finished. The novel is well thought out and filled with hidden lore, culture, history. So even if my word choice appears random – it’s not. There is a reason why these chapters take as long as they do. Vermodalen is fantasy adventure, with magic and heroics in an as realistic setting as I could fit. Things are rarely what they seem, and the ugly nature of people bleed through the letters at the turn of every page. I hope you can give this story a fair chance, even if it isn’t immediately to your taste. Lastly, english isn't my first language. It isn't my second one either. So, if you find errors in grammer and spelling, wordplay and sentance building, do let me know, and you will be rewarded by a surge of dopamine that will be released inside your brain for helping someone whom you haven't even seen or heard.

A Merchants Tale
Legends rise. Country’s fall. Empires wage war. But what supports these great powers, allowing them to function as a single organism. Is it the common man, Farmers and Millers forming the backbone of the land? The Soldiers and Guards keeping public order? The Wives and Widows supporting from the side-lines? The Nobles from their seats of power? Or the elusive Sorcerers who wield power untold? And what maggots crawl in this great creature, all trying to get a piece of its slowly decaying flesh. The gangs of the Underworld hidden in the shadows? The Bandits and Deserters hiding at the edges, ready to pounce on any weakness? Witches and Warlocks working their dark art? Or other Nations clawing at their neighbour’s, salivating over the riches they stand to gain from another’s demise. There is one group that belongs to neither group. They thrive on others misfortune and bring with them salvation and destruction in equal measure. They can raise a kingdom up or tear it down screaming and kicking. These are the merchants, the lifeblood of kingdoms, because what is the one thing above all else men crave. Is it Love? Power? Destruction? All these things can be acquired with one simple thing. Wealth. Wealth is the true power behind the world. Wealth can buy army’s, strangle kingdoms, and turn even the most devout man from his faith. Merchants come in many forms, shapes and sized, some gaudy, bleeding the people for all their worth, some tricky, preferring to make contracts and debts to trap men. And some desperate, doing all they can to sell even the most worthless of junk. This is a story of one merchant who goes against all a merchant stands for. He works not for profit but for some unseen goal, a prophesy aeons old. He comes and goes like a ghost, bringing with him hope and victory. All pray for his arrival to spare them from despair. But what about when he doesn’t show? What about the people he doesn’t save? For this man is no angel, no saint sent to save the masses. His goal was never to deliver hope. It merely isn’t time for their destruction yet. For nothing is eternal. And all things must end. But what comes after? Quick disclaimer in response to the review I got, this is my first story and somewhat of an experiment for me, hopefully my writing will get better the more I practice. Thanks for any helpful advice :)
