《A bored boy looking for reason》Chapter 10 Magic beast

And here comes the two chapters for the first day of the new year. :D
I have a big problem with atmostrophes. (Don't know if that is the right world but with this --> ') This is for when things and people are in possesion of something. I learned the rules in school one time long ago and still had problems wit it then.
So if someone could send me a pm with explanation about them then that would be grateful. (OBS!!! This is only if you mind that there is chaos with them for example: Eleena's ball Eleenas ball and the likes.)( If you don't mind the chaos then don't bother with it and I will just continue write.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OBS! I was a bit drunk while writing a part of this chapter so if some parts just doesn’t make any sense just say something and I will fix it.
We didn’t have much to eat for breakfast so it was just soup made with some herbs that Eleena picked up along the road. I guess that knowledge about various eatable plants is a good thing that I should learn.
Both Eleena and Laelia was silent during the entire time we ate. They both had a strange look on their face. I guess that what I said yesterday really rattled them. But having your belief destroyed and at the same time being replaced should do that to one I suppose. I am not really a believer in anything myself. Sure I have some belief in a higher power and so, and that has almost been proven since I am here in a new world and everything. Even if it was a hero summoning that was the cause.
We were quickly on our way since the two didn’t say anything. They were clearly thinking about yesterday. According to Eleena we would reach the border by today. The border was apparently very clear. If you described the surrounding that we are travelling in right now it could be summarized with the word forest. It wasn’t a very dense forest but still a forest in its own right.
The border between humans and elves were the type of forest. What Eleena said was that the forest should become very dense suddenly and that meant that we had passed the border in to the eleven kingdom.
Usually merchants that would travel to the elven kingdom would hire some mercenaries or adventures because there were some magical beasts around the border. They weren’t very strong but supposedly enough to destroy a wagon or two with no problems.
While we were on our way Eleena was the first to start talking.
- “How come you know so much about something nobody never knew of?” she was very curios and you could she her eyes glimmered and expecting an answer. I couldn’t say no to that could I? I really am beginning to become soft.
- “You know about the heroes that were summoned by the human king?” they both nodded carefully since they knew that I would answer them. I seriously am becoming a very soft hearted person. If it were the old me I wouldn’t even bother with things like this.
- “Well, I am one of them.” I said with a quiet voice. It was embarrassing as hell to call yourself a hero. The two looked shocked yet again. Couldn’t they get used to it or something.
- “My previous world didn’t have things like magic. Instead we further developed our science. We are about five hundred to one thousand years further ahead in science than you are.” They really couldn’t take what I said.

- “So that’s why. But didn’t you have your own gods?” Laelia was quick to recover and asked.
- “We did have religions but most of it was pure nonsense that was only for some people to profit. For example we have this Christianity. One of the so called holy rules is “Thou shall not kill” despite that they are one of the religions that killed the most people.” I was a bit depressed talking about my own stupid kind in my own world. I looked at both of them to see their expression. They both seemed conflicted. I knew what they were gonna ask.
- There is no need to ask why they did it. It was some hundred years ago. Now most of the countries have weapons that could destroy our planet and there is not many wars, but there still are some.”
They both was quiet and in their own thoughts. I guess you could say that we have created a special bond between us. Even though we barely know each other. Eleena was the one to break the awkward silence.
- “Do you believe in any god?” She asked a bit careful.
- “I don’t believe in any god no. But I am almost certain that there is some higher being that we could describe as godlike.” She seemed to accept my answer and said no more.
I wanted to change the subject since it was depressing to talk about something your kind have failed miserably at. That’s when I remembered my last dream. And no it was not a naughty one.
- “Eleena you said that the more blood you merged with the mana the more control you would have over the spell.”
- “Yes that is how it is.”
- “Is it possible to control the ball spell so that it will fly according to your own will instead of in just a straight line?”
- “Hm, there was some that used the spell in the way you described according to history. There are Vuischmidt that was MasterArchmage in wind. It was said the he could control his windball to fly at will in every direction and that it was so fast you couldn’t see it with your eye. And then there is Quiveras. She was a MasterArchmage in fire. It was said that she was so hot that every man would fall down in front of her. But I don’t know what they mean by that. She was also rumored to have created several fireballs and moved them according to will.” Well she shouldn’t know what that mean at her age.
- “Wait, what is a MasterArchmagge? I only know of archmage and that is what my teacher or if you could call him that was.”
- “A MasterArchmage is someone that is at the very top of their affinity. They have learned almost every kind of magic that is possible and are studying to learn the ancient magic that some gods left behind. An archmage is just someone with a very high mana capacity and knows a lot of spells and some high levels one.”
- “I guess they were powerful then, anyway so it is possible to control the ball spell to my will and have more than one out at the time?”
- “Yes it should be possible. But why are you asking?” she was a bit confused. Maybe because of what I mentioned earlier.
- “I was thinking of making more than one void all and have them circle around me for both defense and offence. As it is now they just disappear after they are out of my control area which is 100 meters.”

- “That sounds like something very dangerous for the ones who are your enemy.” Laelia was the one who answered. Eleena just stood still and didn’t say anything it looked like she was thinking.
- “That would indeed be a very terrifying spell. Just thinking about it makes me shiver. The only weakness in your void ball will be compensated and at the same time you don’t know when the void ball will attack you. The only problem that I see with this is that it would take a massive amount of control to pull off.”
- “As you know fire, water, wind and earth have different properties to them. And because of that they each need a different amount of control. Wind needs the least amount since you just shoot out it out with some winds propelling in it. After is earth since you just need to condense the earth. Next is both fire and water. Fire you need to control the temperature and in water you need to make it stay together so that it doesn’t collapse. I can only imagine the amount of control that you need to pull of what you just said.
I have to agree when I fired the void ball it took quite the toll on me just to fire two. It was not like I was out of breath or anything, but I just felt that I was exhausted. I guess that I need a larger mana pool before I can attempt my further improved void ball. I think I will name it melchee’s door if I ever succeed.
We have travelled for quite some time. I guess that time really flied by when you have something to do. There shouldn’t be much more left to the border. Then we will follow Eleenas’ lead to her village. She told us on the way that their barrier was a kind of illusion. It would make the ones who try to enter the village uninvited to walk in circles. In other words it messes with your senses so that you can’t reach the village. Sadly it wasn’t one of the strong types since her village was located near the border. If the same kind of barrier was stronger, then it would be really hard for anyone to even notice the village sine they wouldn’t’ know that they were walking in circles or around it.
When we arrived at the border I was a bit taken back. There was a clear line where the forests changed and became a lot denser. It was as if it wasn’t the same forest anymore. It was so clear that you could say that you stood in a very dense forest and at the same time was standing in a normal forest.
We didn’t stop for long before Eleena took the lead. We had to leave the horses behind since it would be very hard for them to travel in between the trees. I guess you can imagine how dense the forest was now.
It didn’t take long before we heard a very loud roar. It was definitely from some beast that I have never heard of before. We all stopped and drew our weapons by reflex. We all stood still trying to see if something was coming at us. Just as I thought that the danger had passed we heard the loud roar again. Just as we heard it a big beast jumped out from some tress.
It looked like a bear with tusks. At its back where big spikes that continued all the way down to the tail. The tail was like that of a lizard. The difference between this beast and a bear, except the obvious is that it had no fur. It had something of a mix between skin and scales and you could see the muscles bulging under. It was a damn terrifying beast.
- “T-that is a bresqurrer!!” The one who yelled out panicked was Laelia. I have never seen her panicking before and that really scared me.
- “What is so special about it?” I was quick to respond. The bresqurrer was looking at us. Probably deciding if we are dinner or not.
- “It is level 5 magical beast. It specializes in body magic and have a berserker ability. It take a team of at least 6 B ranked adventurers to take it down.” I know understood why she was panicking.
The way magic beasts is ranked is not perfect. There are a lot of magic beasts that is ranked at one level but is a lot stronger because of their own experiences. For example a rabbit type of beasts that is tame would be a lot weaker than a wild one that have been fighting for its life every day. They also use their magic in different ways, even if most of them use it the same way.
- “Then we should run the hell out of here!”
- “That won’t work. Despite their big stature they are extremely nimble and can easily run past a horse on even terrain. In a dense forest like this they are one of the top ranked magic beast in speed.” Eleena was the one to answer. She also had a serious expression on her face.
- “If we are lucky it will just let us go. And if we are unlucky we have to try to fight it.”
Great. We can’t run and our enemy is clearly stronger than us. While we were talking the bresqurrer was just eyeing us. Just as we were done so it seemed to be. It let out a loud roar again and started walking towards us.
- “It seems we have some luck. It has decided to play with us instead of eating us.”
- “And just how is that good?!?” I retorted.
- “It will be less brutal and hold back some of its power. If we can even kill it now is our chance.”
I ran some simulations on how to fight in my head. Eleena was out of the question but still had some magic. Laelia was more of an attack type instead of tank and defense. And then there is me.
- “Eleena keep back and support us with magic when you see an opening. There is not much more you can do! Laelia I will try to draw its attention and you attack from blind spots! When it loses me from its sight I will attack with all I have.” Not much else we could do.
- “Okey!”
- “Yes!”
Eleena ran back behind me and Laelia ran to the side. The bresqurrer looked at what we were doing but it still decided to go after me. It leaped towards me and damn it was fast. I had barely enough time to evade and just as I moved my head to the side. I could see that a big claw like palm was where my head was before. That sent shivers down my spine. I quickly got some distance between us. The bresqurrer looked at me with amusing eyes. It probably thought that I would be a good playmate.
It once again leaped towards me and swept out with its claw. This time I saw it coming and instead of dodging I tried to meet it head on with my sword. Of course I used void cut. Just as we clashed I was sent back flying 15 meters. I only managed to make a little scratch with void cut. It seems like it have more mana than me because that is the only way to counter void cut.
The bresqurrer now looked a bit annoyed but still amused at its scratch wound where you could see some drops of blood. When it was looking at the wound Eleena fired a water ball towards its head. It dodged it easily and looked over to where Eleena was standing. But before it could take any action Laelia was slashing its back. Sadly she didn’t manage to make as much as a scratch.
Seriously its body strengthening magic is way too strong. I only managed to leave a scratch because of my void cut. I know see why it takes so many b ranked adventures to kill one. Normally it should be enough with a team of c ranked ones to fight level 5 magic beasts.
It went after Laelia. When it turned around to chase Laelia I quickly closed the gap despite still being a little groggy after the first clash. I slashed at the back right leg hoping that I could immobilize it somehow.
Instead I was greeted with a kick coming towards me. It seemed that the bresqurrer tricked me and was still focused on me. It is a lot smarter than it looked, and it was supposed to have a berserker ability. That is so not fair. I barely managed to shield myself with my sword and void cut before the kick came. There was a lot more power in it than the claw before and I was once again sent flying but this time I was knocked in to a tree and felt a sharp pain at the side of my stomach. Yep that is a broken rib. Just great.
I looked at the bresqurrer with a pained face. I could see a smug face on it. It was clearly happy that I fell for his trick. It started to run to me. A waterball came flying from the side and hit it on the head. The water stayed on its head like a helmet. What do you think it did to get rid of the water? It friggin drank it! It was clear that this bresqurrer have had experiences with magicians before.
Just after it drank all the water Laelia was going in for a strike at a vital point. She didn’t have enough time to dodge and was hit by the tail. Lucky for her it wasn’t where the spikes were. She was also sent back flying. She had manage to make her left arm take the brunt of the force and it was now completely useless. It would take some time before she could use it again, despite that she didn’t make a sound and just rose up. The bresqurrer was now facing Laelia.
I took this chance and rise up despite the pain. I gathered the mana in my palm and merged a drop of blood to it and quickly fired my void ball towards it. It didn’t seem to have noticed it but just before it was about to hit the bresqurrer jumped to the side. But the gravitational force made the bresqurrer unable to completely avoid the void ball. Its left back leg was almost completely gone but the void ball still continued going and managed to take a part of the left front leg.
- “Damn it!!!! I yelled out. If it was dead on it would have been killed.
The bresqurrer let out a pained roar before facing towards me. It now looked very angry compared to the amusing look from before. Eleena was firing waterballs left and right towards it but it didn’t even care for them and just continued slowly towards me. With one back leg gone it could not run anymore and was kind of lumping towards me. But do not be tricked, it could easily still kill me with one strike.
Laelia took this opportunity and ran towards it from the back. She jumped onto the bresqurrers’ back and slashed down towards they eye. She barely hit it before she was throw off. This time she didn’t get up. She was unconscious. She probably hit her head.
When she was on the back I had started to run towards it with a pained expression. On the way I tried to gather the little mana left and managed to make a little voidball. Just as it was facing towards me again there was only five meters between us. The bresqurrer swiped with its claw against me and I ducked under. Just as I was under the claw I fired the voidball towards its stomach. This time there was no way it could dodge. And a hole the same size as the voidball was in its stomach just seconds later.
I took a look on the corpse of the bresqurrer before falling down. Just before I fell unconscious I saw Eleena running towards me and then it was all black.
