And here is the second chapter for the day. Enjoy.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND SEE YOU ALL AT THE GYM TOMORROW!! :D

PS: Can you guess the reference down below??

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s a new dawn. It’s a new day. Today we are getting out of this city and will be heading to the elven kingdom. All the preparations are ready and all that is left is to eat breakfast. We had some small talk while eating but of nothing important. The only noteworthy thing was that Eleena told us where her village was and how long it would take once we reached the border.

Apparently most elven villages have some kind of barrier to keep unwanted people out. They are not all powerful and you can go past them. The interesting thing was that the further in you travel the more powerful the barriers gets.

I was also eager to try out the theory for my new spell. I mean who doesn’t want to play with a new toy when you get one?

At the city walls we received or horses that we took from the bandits. There was a stable outside of the city where you could leave your horses for a small change. It would take us three days to get to the border from here. But that was considered quite short time for travelling. It was a big difference from our world since you could travel the where ever you want in less than 24 hours. I must say that I am not a big fan of this. Maybe I should try to invent moving vehicle or get myself a magic beast that is fast. Nothing I can do anything about no however.

We have travelled the whole day and it is getting dark so we have stopped to make camp. I took out two tents from my inventory. Once I did that the girls looked yet again at me with shocked expression. Seriously that is all that I see for most of the time. Is it really that surprising?

- “How did you do that??” Laelia asked with a very shocked voice. And her face was almost priceless. Wish you could have seen it.

(AU Note: For you to see her expression I need someone to do artwork to my story voluntarily. :D)

- “Remember that I have void affinity?” they both nodded their heads almost like it was going to fall off.

- “I created a small dimension pocket where I can store things. No living beings though.” They both still seemed shocked but was pleased with the explanation and starting to get themselves together.

Once everything was settled, Laelia took out a rabbit with a horn on its head to start making something to eat. She caught it on our way and said “Dinner” like it was obviously. I walked just outside our camp to test my new magic. If I succeed that is.

I started to think back to what I read about this magic. The key was to gather your affinity at one point and the release it outside so that you get the “ball” of your affinity. Almost everyone uses their palm to gather their affinity in, but technically you can do it wherever you wanton your body.

Once you ball of affinity has created itself outside you control it with you magic that is linked to it. So you have to feel the magic connection between yourself and the ball.

It doesn’t seem so hard but I am a little worried that it will not work with my affinity. Some affinities doesn’t have this application of their affinity. Nature affinity is one of them. But I still think it will work.

I started to let my magic flow to my palm. After a little while I could feel more of my magic at the palm than the rest of my body. This was something that I learned in one of my lessons with the Julius. Sadly I couldn’t do much more to move around the magic or the so called mana since I had no idea how to release it other than my little pocket dimension. And Julius couldn’t help me either since he didn’t know either.

I tried to manifest the mana I could feel in my palm outside of it. Nothing really happened but I could feel that the mana was lifting up somehow, just slightly but it still moved up in my hand. I wasn’t disappointed by this instead I was happy. This meant that I could learn this. All I had to do was to practice more. I tried one more time but the same result happened. I could feel the mana lift up slightly but that was it. It seems to need something more than just the mana.

(AU Note: Just think of the scene where Naruto learns rasengan and you get the whole picture. For those who doesn’t know what Naruto is, it is manga and something you have missed in life.)

The book just told the theory of the spell and not how to actually do the spell itself. I tried it once more and sure, the same thing happened and nothing was different than the first two times I tried it. But what could I be lacking. It should just be mana that gathers and then you shoot it at your enemy.

- “Cardiz! The food is ready!” It was Eleena calling out to me. She pulled me out of my thoughts. Not that I was getting anywhere.

- “So this is Laelia’s famous rabbit stew?” I teased her when I saw the stew. It smelled really good and seemed to be quite good.

- “It’s nothing too fancy just something all of my clan learns when they start their training.” It seems like her upbringing is a lot better than that of mine.

I mean of all the 17 years or so of studying I have only used about 10-20%. Most of the things they teaches you is completely useless in real life later. You never learn to pay taxes or the laws of the country you live in. hell you don’t even learn the human rights. They teaches you of our history when you need to know of our current state of affairs instead of what some king did xxx years back to his wives. Instead they try to make you remember some useless math formulas or about things that you have no relations too.

Sorry I just get quite upset when I think of my own world since there is so many hypocrites, liars and useless things.

- “What do you learn Eleena?” I asked her cause it seemed interesting what a high elf would learn.

- “Most of our education is magic related. Since high elf have higher mana capacity and are usually greater mages than the others. Wood elves learns about nature while also taking the necessary magic lessons. Dark elves are almost all born warriors with stronger physical condition than other elves so they learn martial art. They also learns some magic but not as much as the high elves and wood elves.” Wow, I wasn’t expecting her to give such an answer. That practically answered everything I about their education.

- “Wait. So does that mean that you can use magic?” I asked a little bit surprised.

- “Yes. I have affinity for water and wind. But since I am not finished with my education I don’t know much magic.” This really came as a surprise. She said that she didn’t know much but maybe she knew what I wanted to know.

- “Well do you perhaps know waterball or windball?” I asked with a nervous voice. I mean maybe I have a teacher right next to me.

- “I know waterball. It is one of the basic spells we are taught.”

- “Great, could you teach me how to use it?” I had a really happy face right now. I mean now I didn’t have to wait until we got to some town to get someone to teach me. Since I have a capable teacher right next to me.

- “Sure.” She replied with a happy voice.

After we were done eating I and Eleena went a bit outside camp since it would be bad if we destroyed it by mistake. I told her what I knew and also showed her an example. When I was finished she had a confident smile hon her face.

- “You are making same mistake as every beginner. To control the ball you have to put a drop of blood in the place where you gather you mana. The blood is there to control your spell. The more powerful the spell is you usually have to put more blood in to it if you want full control over the spell. Most mages just put a little bit of blood so that they can aim and not enough so that they can freely control the spell. That is also why there are few mages that also try to be warriors since there is a much higher risk to lose blood in close combat instead of ranged combat.”

It seems to make some sense but I wonder why Julius never told us anything about this. It is one of the most freaking important things to control your spell.

- “Does all spells require blood to control them?” I asked since I don’t use any blood to control my inventory.

- “No, not all spells require it but most do. It is only the basics of basic spells that doesn’t require blood for control or some special magic.

Since I now fully understood what I had to do I tried it once more. I let the mana flow to my palm. Once I felt that I have gathered enough mana I tried to let one drop of blood mix in. sadly the blood didn’t want to mix with the mana.

- “The blood doesn’t want to mix in with the mana.”

- “That is all about practice. It usually takes about one to three weeks before you do it successfully the first time.” I can’t say that this information made me happy. Eleena just smiled when she looked at the frowning face I made.

I still continued to practice. Eleena went back to Laelia. Every time I tried the same thing happened. The blood just didn’t want to mix with the mana. I have now tried 99 times. (Don’t ask me how I knew that it was 99 times.) This is the last time if it doesn’t work I just have to continue tomorrow.

(AU Note: The privileges of being the author of your own story J)

The mana gathered in my palm. I tried to make a drop of blood fuse with the mana. This time I felt a reaction but no fusion happened. I felt really excited and quickly tried once more. The same thing happened but this time could feel a stronger reaction.

The third time. I did the same thing and this time the blood merged with the mana. I urged the gathered mana in my palm to float upwards which it did. I was now standing still with a black ball floating above my palm. I carefully moved my palm to face a tree. I urged the ball to fly forward. It flew forward, not very fast but what happened was out of expectations. The ball flew forward. When it hit the tree it just continued forward. The surroundings started to bend in the directions of the ball. The ball continued to fly forward and everything around it was bending towards it. And the things that stood in its way it just passed despite hitting them. When it have gotten 100 meters from me it disappeared.

If someone saw my expression they would have to describe it as “He has lost his jaw1”. I was shocked to say the least. What I just shot forward seems to be a gravitational ball. Everything that surrounded I was being pulled towards it and when it was going to collide with something it just went through leaving a hole of the same size as the ball.

(1: Don’t know if this expression exist in English but it sounds a lot better in Swedish which is “Han tappade hakan”)

It took some time for me to get out of my surprised state. The only known weakness that I can quickly see is that it is slow. But if I use it at the right time it sure as hell will do some damage and could turn a bad situation into a favorable one in an instant.

I rushed to Laelia and Eleena. I just had to consult with Eleena about it. And who know maybe Laelia also have an opinions since she is a born warrior and all. I am sure that they must have some training against magic or they would be Bambi on ice when it comes to fighting a magician.

I ran back to the camp even though it wasn’t far away. I saw that both Eleena and Laelia was just about to go to bed when I came running. They both looked surprised when they saw me, must have been because they have never seen me like this. And I really think that I have really never felt like this before either. Not in my own world at least.

- “I did it! I managed to make the blood merge with the mana and cast the spell.” To be honest here. I was really happy, which I haven’t been very often.

- “You’re lying!” Eleena shouted back at me.

- “No, just look.”

Laelia just stood beside and observed us talking. As I said my last line I started to gather my mana and then made a drop of blood merge with the mana. I urged it to flow upwards and there was my black ball.

- “This can’t be true! Even the most gifted of our race would still need five days before they could merge their blood with the mana.” She said with a very shocking voice while looking at the black ball.

- “And that is not the best part. The properties that my Void ball have is way stronger than any other kind of ball no matter what affinity.” I said with a slightly proud voice.

It seems like she still can’t believe me. I guess that I have to show her. I shot my Void ball to some trees in the other direction of our camp. I don’t want to destroy it now do I? The ball flew towards the trees and started to pull everything towards it. You could see the tree around starting to bend. And the trees to be sorry enough to be in the way got a hole through them. The ball continued 100 meter forward before it disappeared. Everything that was left was a straight line of holes in the trees that was in its way. Everything around the line of holes was bending towards the line.

Eleena was in shock. Laelia wasn’t much better off either. They stood still for what seemed like five to ten minutes before Eleena opened her mouth.

- “This is insane!!! The all type of spells should be a basic one but this, this is on a totally different level!"

- “I have to agree with her. I have thought against some magicians for practice and they use the ball spell more as a distraction type of spell than damage spell. But this is way more of a damage spell if not a killing one.” Laelia pitched in.

- “Yeah that’s right! And what is with that pulling force?” They seem to be teaming up against me.

- “It makes sense if you think about it.” I said with a certainty in my voice

- “How?”

- “Well, you know that my affinity is void? What properties do void have?”

- “I-I-I don’t know.” Eleena said shocked. I looked at Laelia.

- “I also don’t know.” I guess this was expected. They haven’t gotten anywhere with science. Probably since magic exist and can alter reality.

- “Okey, so what do you know about the stars?” I asked to be sure to know where to start my own explanation.

- “The gods created the starts to be put in the night to be beautiful for their creations to look at.” Eleena said as a matter of fact. When I heard the explanation I facepalmed.

- “Do you know anything about the stars that doesn’t mention gods?”

- “No.” she looked curios at me. Laelia also seemed to be getting curios.

- “I guess this is as expected. I will now tell you the truth behind the stars. First thigs first. There is no gods involved. Gods are just a higher or more powerful being. They are just like us in regards that there are creatures below them and above them. Or that is my own opinion.” They both looked at me with interesting and a bit fearful eyes.

- “This whole universe was created with a big bang. If someone did that or not and if that someone is a god is impossible to know without finding the one responsible. Anyway stars are suns but many lightyears away.”

- “What is lightyears?” Eleena was quick to ask.

- “Lightyears is the amount of distance that takes light to travel for a year. For example if you are some distance away from a big collision or explosion you may see it before you can hear the sound of the explosion.” They both nodded.

- “The same principle is behind light except that it travels many times faster. You didn’t really think that light is instantaneous did you?”

- “N-n-no.” Eleena tried to hide the fact that she didn’t know. It was quite cute.

- “But moving on, every star has its own gravitational force. And please tell me you know why you don’t fall of the earth.”

- “No.” This time Laelia answered.

- “Hweeh (Intended to be sighing). I mentioned that stars have their own gravitational force right? But so does planets and planets are things like this earth that we live on. In fact everything that has mass has some gravitational force but it is so small that it is nonexistent. The planets gravitational force somehow creates something called atmosphere. It is like a big layer that surrounds our planet also the thing that makes life the way it is down here. I am not too sure of this process but anyway the gravitational force makes it so that we don’t start flying off the planet.”

(AU Note: Please don’t hang me on this I am not so sure about all this but if you know the process then by all means explain it in a pm so that I can edit this part later.)

- “Then there is something that is called a black hole. It is created when a massive star implodes. The black holes gravitational force is so strong that even light can’t escape it. And not enough with that it can absorb mass surrounding it and other start to grow. It can even merge with other black holes to create a supermassive black hole.”

The both looked really surprised and broken at the same time while being curios and interested in what I am talking about. I can’t blame them. I am destroying everything that they are believing in and at the same time giving them new information that makes more sense to replace the false knowledge.

- “But to answer your question why there is such a strong pulling force it is because everything surrounding everything in the universe is what you could call the void. And my Void ball gets the properties of the things in the universe. This time the gravitational force.”

Done with my explanation I looked at them. I could clearly see that they had some questions if not a few. But we all needed to sleep now. A long day ahead of us was waiting and it would be a good topic for conversations to kill the time while traveling.

- “Why don’t we head off to bed now and talk more about it tomorrow?” My suggestion was accepted and we all headed off to get some sleep.
