《The Scarlet Knight》Chapter Two: What Happened?

Catlin sat up quickly, her whole body was sore, and the smell of smoke was still burned into her nose. What the hell was that? What the hell just happened? She looked around. She was sitting in a corridor. The walls around her were made of wood, and the door a few feet in front of her looked like it was made out of bricks.
As Caitlin stood up, she slid her hair back. "Ash!?" She called into the empty hallway. There was a fire. She was having a hard time processing the events of the party. As Caitlin stumbled forward, she felt something hit her back. In a moment of shock, she turned around and grabbed at the item. It was just a backpack. "Is anyone here!?" She called as she stumbled to the door.
As Caitlin stumbled to the door, she slowly remembered what had happened to her. She remembered the car, the screaming, and eventually, there was nothing left to think about. Caitlin assumed she blacked out during the accident. "Ashley!" She called again as she placed her hand around the doorknob. She let her forehead rest on the frame before slowly tugging the door open.
At first, the light was blinding; Caitlin stumbled back and kept her eyes shut. What the hell is going on? Caitlin slowly opened her eyes and let out a disappointed sigh when she saw the room before her. She was hoping to see a familiar face, or at least get a clue as to where she was. Instead, she was greeted by a bed, a table, and a book. She slowly walked into the room and sat on the bed.
Why am I so tired? She wondered as she let her body fall back onto the bed. Her eyes felt like they weighed a million pounds. There was nothing left in her to stay awake. Caitlin slowly fell asleep.

"Wake up."
"Caitlin! Wake up!"
Caitlin shot awake, her heart was racing, and her body was tense. She scanned the room to see if anyone was inside with her; she was surprised to see the room had been changed. She slowly rolled out of bed and stumbled to the side. "Hello?" Caitlin called, Why do I keep doing that?
Caitlin stumbled over to the small basket on the table and opened it. She knew this situation was weird, but the smell of freshly cooked food and the sight of water made her forget her worries, if only for a short time.
After eating, Caitlin took the book from the table and returned to the door. She figured she had missed something before, and since there was only one door, this must be the way to go. She was sorely mistaken; when she opened the door, she looked at a completely different hallway. "What?" She mumbled as she took a few brave steps out.

It seemed like she was walking forever before a popup appeared before her eyes.
Quest: Escape the dungeon
"Escape?" Caitlin scanned the hallway and began walking forward. "If this is some kind of joke, no one is laughing!" She called into the darkness. Eventually, she reached the end of the hallway. Caitlin was looking at a chest and two doors.
As she walked closer the chest lit up. As the lid began to open Caitlin took a couple of steps back. What is going on?
Caitlin took a deep breath and walked over to the chest. Inside she saw a short sword, a shield, and a couple of health potions. She took the potions carefully and slowly placed them in her bag.
"Okay." She mumbled to herself, she couldn't believe what was happening. If this was a joke it was pretty well thought out, maybe she had died and this was hell? Nothing was making sense. As she scanned the wall she thought of her new objective. "Okay. If I have to escape, I will escape." She said out loud.

She reached back and pulled the bag from her back, it was mostly empty. As she said the chest began to glow again, after the glowing faded away she looked back in the chest. "A weapon?" She asked as she pulled out a short sword.
"I can do this. I can escape." Caitlin said to herself again before pressing forward.

My first story posted on here! I already have the outline of the first couple of books planned out and will be posting a new chapter every Tuesday and Friday. The story will be dark at times but I intend to keep things fairly light when I can. I'm aiming for a world that isn't full of sunshine and rainbows but isn't as bleak as it could be. Focusing on friendship, camaraderie, sh*t talking, and adventure.

8 170An Extra-Ordinary Story about Ordinary People
In a different world, a different reality, where ordinary people occasionaly have extra-ordinary powers for no particular reason, we follow a number of characters, trying their best to live in this strange yet normal world. We have our first character, a currently nameless but sentinent creature who happened to find himself in the body of a strange fungus after an unknown incident that robbed him of not only his former body but of his memory, as well. Secondly, we follow Smith, a high-standing man who doesn't even need to explain which Smith he is, on top of the world, yet human enough to meet said fungus. And thirdly, we have another nameless character, who is burdened by the ability to summon things that he doesn't want. A charming gang, who will (most likely) meet at some point. --- All and all, it's a twist on the common super-hero world, where all super-heroes have somehow dissappeared, but not the possibility for new ones. The series that feature the mushroom-dude are the 123 ones, the stories that feature Smith are the ABC ones, and the ones that feature our newest character, the summoner-dude, are the abc ones. Neat, huh? Also, just a word of warning? The 123 ones are kind wierd, and you can skip the first few chapters and go straight to the ABC ones without missing too much. But I'd rather you didn't, since i really enjoyed writing them. In ABC and abc, the format changes to a more typical form, with proper grammar and stuff. So if you dont like the 123, I'd love it if you gave the ABC a chance :^) Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it!
