《Death's Heir》Chapter 53 : WarBeast (2)

“I think you should start running...”
“Huh?”
In the moment he wasn’t able to understand what Asbiom was talking about until someone broke the corner then paused unable to react; looking at the headless body and then Azreal.
When the ‘person’ who based on ‘its’ outer appearance looked like a rat locked eyes with Azreal he immediately started backtracking around the corner before anyone could react.
“It’s out!!!! It got out!!!”
The rat didn’t waste any time the moment it broke the corner it started screaming and shortly afterward an alarm was set off.
“Come on!”
Azreal felt all the strength was leaving the body when heard the alarm after taking another look at the bear he started running in the direction the rat ran in.
This area of the building seemed to only have one path so he didn’t have much of a choice he could only run after the rat.
“There it is!”
“It’s up ahead!”
“I didn’t expect it to look that creepy...why is so squishy looking?”
“Who cares let’s just catch it!”
Hearing the different voice behind him Azreal only took a glance back to see more than a dozen of those humanoid animals.
“You gotta be kidding me! Where the hell did you guys come from!?”
Azreal couldn’t help but run ever faster because the ones from behind were gaining speed on him quickly and the rat in front was getting further and further away.
No matter how hard he ran they were still gaining on him and the rat was getting further away.
If someone were to be standing on a platform looking down or standing to the side looking at them they would look like blurs moving but looking at them up close the difference would be shocking.

Azreal was a god with the physique of a god yet he looked like he was having a hard time catching him prey yet his prey didn’t look tired or fatigue in the slightest he looked like he was having a casual jog and so did the ones chasing from behind.
“What the fuck! Aren’t you guys supposed to be common lackeys!?”
With how everything was playing out Azreal couldn’t help but ask aloud despite the distance between them based on their speed it was only a matter of seconds before they caught up to him while it was only a dream to try and catch the rat.
He didn’t really have any reason at this point to be chasing the rat but there was no other way to go and was still pissed that the rat got him in this situation.
Azreal was already pushed in a corner at this point, he really didn’t want to use any divine energy until he understood what was going on but in a situation like this he didn’t feel like he had much of a choice it was either attack or —best case scenario— go back to his cell.
While running Azreal pulled his sword out of the space ring, exerting strength on his legs he jumps up in the air, igniting the blade he slashed out with the sword setting the entire passageway on fire.
Unexpectedly for him the moment he landed [ Time Manipulation ] activated itself, looking around he couldn’t understand.
‘Why the hell did you activate on your own again?...’
But when he took a second look his mind shook he felt like nothing made sense.
About ten of dozen the animals that were chasing him had dashed through the flames without getting burn.
This might sound like a normal occurrence because if you ran fast enough a normal person would be able to run through fire without getting burned but this wasn’t normal fire this was flames that would burn anything it touched into nothing.

The animals had moved so fast that their after image still stood in place almost as if they were real and looking at where the frozen flames landed it was directly on their bodies, logically speaking they should be balls of flames but here they are frozen in mid-air without the slightest scratch on them.
Taking a closer look at the faces of the humanoid beast every single one of them looked completely arrogant with their eyes locked on him with nothing but contempt.
After analyzing the situation in less than a second Azreal ran forward with his sword in hand looking incredibly annoyed.
As he covered the distance getting closer to them all their eyes were following his movements it looked incredibly creepy, even though they could still see their eyes didn’t contain a trace of fear but only contempt.
To them, Azreal should look a beam of light so for them to be able to track his movements were incredibly added to the fact that they still held no fear was even more amazing.
Even more shocking was that they slowly started raising their arms even their bodies slowly started moving.
[ Time Manipulation ] was a skill that would basically lift the restrictions of some spacial laws on the user, so logically right now they should look like frozen statues to him but that wasn’t the reality, just how fast could they ‘people’ move.
Despite this amazing fact, it didn’t really help since Azreal could move at his normal speed while they were still trying to break out of the restrictions.
Azreal had already gotten in front of a dog looking humanoid and just slashed him in two not even thinking twice, repeating this action three more times before he stopped his body swaying and started vomiting up blood.
When he vomited up blood [ Time Manipulation ] stopped for an instant before reactivating just as quickly but that was more than enough for the humanoids.
Taking advantage of that split second opening they appeared in front of Azreal, a fuzzy type raccoon had his outstretched hand in front of his face with small streaks electricity moving across his palm in slow motion.
In the moment he didn’t have time to focus on that, the entire earth felt like it was spinning under him, he felt dehydrated, weak everything felt wrong, his body felt empty he couldn’t move an inch.
Common sense could tell him that his divine energy had been sucked dry in the last moment before his consciousness faded he instinctively recalled the sword into his space ring.
After doing that everything thing went back to normal and his body fell face first straight into the raccoon's paws, a huge surge of electricity ran through his body unhindered.
His entire body started to spasm like crazy because nothing was there to hinder the invading electricity’s path when the raccoon pulled back it’s paw Azreal’s body fell to the grown smoking.
“Tsk is this what people from the chaos are capable of? Grab the body let’s go”
One of the ‘persons in the group hesitated before willing up his courage to speak.
“...Uhmm...wa..what about the sword...”
No one responded just leaving him to pick up the still red smoking body.

The Court of Souls?
Author's Comment: I was asked about reading my work on other sites. The answer is simple: Currently I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors. If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it, or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed. You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website. The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf. (http://armaell-library.net/author/andur) ——————————————————————————————— Reading Order of the Multiverse-Books ——————————————————————————————— What do we talk about tonight? ~“How about a story?”~ Fine by me. Which story? Hopefully a good one. ~“There was once a lonely child in a world filled with myths, gods and demons. Only power counted there and the weak were worse than cattle. A world where survival of the fittest ruled.”~ Was it strong then? ~“No, but the child had a power. One that made him stand between light and darkness. Nothing could escape him, so he was shunned by his people.”~ What did he do? Did he fight his fate? Did he hide his power? What was it? ~“Oh, he fought. He fought a lot. And no thing could escape his power. It was something that everyone had to live with.”~ So he became a hero and changed the world? ~“…”~ Tell me. ~“Nooo, that's not how the story goes. This isn't a story of a noble man, doing good amidst a sea of monsters. This is a story of a demon who was... kinder than the rest.”~ A kind demon? How boring. ~“I think it would be better if I tell the story, so you can judge for yourself.”~ So tell the story!
