CHAPTER 18 - A Talented Monster.
"What do you mean select? Of course it is Zewoulf who would team up with you. That way he can definitely be sure to get in the Elemental class." Azyl suddenly spoke. He only felt that was natural, as his chances were low from the start. Even if he got to team up with Nigel, there was still not much chance and it was not known whether he might end up being a drag for him too.
It would be better for Zewoulf to get the chance, as he was already one of the top students in combat and theory class. He would have a better chance on getting in Elemental class that way, assuming that Nigel was also a good help for him.
Both Zewoulf and Nigel looked at him with a little surprise at his reaction. Nigel was the first one to react, as he laughed slightly,
"You really are honest eh. But from what I see, Zewoulf already has a good chance, on the other hand while you may seem to be on the lower end, I like to believe that you are a dark horse you know. I will be honest here when I say that I think equally of both of you. You both are students that are known by students in other years and grades. While Zewoulf shows his brilliance naturally, you seem to have only been biding your time all this while. So not only me, but many others also think that maybe you are better than what you let others know. After all until now there really hasn't been a student who would really squander an opportunity to study elements by being lazy."
When Zewoulf heard him speak, he was surprised a little at first when he thought this person had somehow also found that Azyl had a talent for cultivation. But after listening to him, he understood that this was only a misconception that the rumors had created. But it made a little sense, as this place was a gathering of kids who all wanted to work hard to become better and powerful. Even the worst student was someone who would only lag behind due to his lack in talent. There would be no shortage of kids who would work hard here.

On the other hand, Azyl was surprised at first and by the end he felt like wanting to laugh out loud. He could not believe that his natural lethargy had earned him such a reputation. Maybe he was indeed talented in more than one way, he thought with a laugh in his mind.
"Hmm what you say might be right, so we will let you know in a while about our decision of who gets to partner up with you. But before that, we need to also know that partnering with you might actually help us, so can you tell us a little more about it." Zewoulf changed the topic subtly. He was also straight in regards to his intentions.
He was not afraid that people would find out about Azyl's talent, but that he might get caught up in the Elemental class and end up being a pawn for the Royal family like everyone later.
"Ah yes let me tell you about how it went last year for the second years. I was already second year then so I got the chance to take part in the initiation once more. The task for last year involved going into the city..." And thus after another twenty minutes, they got to know all about last years initiation.
By now, both of them knew that this new hulking friend of theirs was a chatterbox. He would not stop talking once you initiated talking with him.
"Oh also, just so you know I am also a top student. I am from the Yoga class and ranked seventh in my years initiation." He told them with a bright smile. It was almost infectious the way he smiled.
Also what he told them was also surprising and raised many questions in their mind.
"Wait, you were seventh and still not got in the Elemental class?"
"Shouldn't you be in the combat class for warriors?"

Both of them fired of with their questions.
Seeing them confused and asking like that, Nigel again broke into smiles as if he was expecting their befuddled looks.
"I could have got into the Elemental class, but I opted instead for yoga as I am more talented in that area. It was teacher Zeke who explained in advance to me due to my talent about how all classes were treated equally. Also about combat class, I actually have an additional course in physical training so maybe you can say I am student of both class? Haha, but you can be assured that I won't drag you down, whoever partners with me." He replied calmly.
Listening to him, both of them had a look of shock. They realised they were looking at a really talented monster, for someone to refuse Elementalism and opt for something different and even get to learn from two classes. It just sounded too awesome to be true. But Zewoulf internally felt it to be true. From his experience in his memories, he could tell that Nigel was an honest person and meant no malice or slight.
"Thats really amazing you know. To reject the Elements class, thats like rejecting the dreams of so many, you stand above them all literally in a sense." Azyl mumbled as he looked at Nigel with shining eyes.
Woulf shook his head at seeing him react like this, but he knew it was correct.
"Ah maybe, but it isn't all that nice honestly. Most of the students in my year ostracize me for my choice, while my seniors even put me down for it. The only reason that people don't make it all tough for me is that I am, you know a little scary to approach I think" Nigel spoke to them in a light voice.
"Yeah, that is how usually people would react. But don't mind them all, its their job to judge after all." Azyl laughed with him.
And that was how Azyl usually was, brushing aside everything as it was too much of a drag to think about others.
"Yeah thats true. Anyways let me know about your decision soon. No matter what you choose, your initiation may go well tomorrow. DO your best and if you want to, then choose the Yoga class. You can find me training in the grounds later to let me know." After that he got up from his seat and casually moved out of the dining hall.
It was already an hour past since they has started. Although Azyl was a little shut-in in the beginning while talking with Nigel, but he soon opened up and now they seemed to be like good friends.
"Well we got to know a lot. Lets first go to our room and organize all that we know for now. We can give him our answer in a while before the lunch." Zewoulf spoke first as he also stood up.
"What do you mean answer, its already decided that you are going to partner with him. He only misunderstood about me being a dark horse. As we know that he is also a extremely talented person, it would be better for you to go. Other wise if I end up dragging him down, who knows how he might react." Azyl immediately spoke back, as he followed him back.
And like that, they bickered back to their room.
