CHAPTER 4 - The Ten shadows
"Can you finally remember where this place might be?" Azyl excitedly asked Zewoulf.
After two weeks, he had went quite a distance further from where he had originally begun. And now that he was no longer disturbed by anyone, he spent usually around 15-20 minutes in that dreamscape. That was his limit currently, as anymore than that, his body could not handle the fatigue.
He could now also be sure that the trigger of the dream had to be related to time as it always began at two o clock. Other than that, he also had a feeling that he might be soon reaching the ending of the dream, so any strange landmarking or clue that could easily allow him later to identify that place needed to be found soon.
But the only person that could provide him with answers was stuck at a wall.
"Its right there but I can't recall the name exactly. Like something is blocking it from me. You said that you can see ten shadows in the distance from where you are right now, correct? I have a feeling that as soon as you can get a look of those shadows, I can definitely answer you."
"Right now I have some idea, but I am not entirely sure and can definitely not remember the name of the place. But with this last information, I think all answers can be solved" Zewoulf spoke.
At first, when Azyl described to him the scene that he could see, Zewoulf would even sometime correctly guess his thoughts. But right now it looked like he just seemed to be missing the final piece of the puzzle.
"Anyways, even if I can not remember after that, this will help you find about it later if you decide to search for it manually." Zewoulf said, while handing a sheet.

"What is this?"
"This is a proper and orderly description of what you have seen till now. It is so that even if the dream ends, you will still have the information to search for it. I know that you would never do anything properly and will probably forget all details, so I did it for you." Zewoulf waved his hand as if showing off a skill he had just learned.
But Azyl was genuinely amazed by this. He instantly felt glad that he had made such a friend.
"Well If I discover an inheritance from some great person, I am definitely sharing it with you" Azyl replied with a big grin.
Even though he felt that the dream might be ending tomorrow, he had his fun with it. It was even getting monotonous for him to look at the constant wreckage that was all around him.
Zewoulf only smiled at Azyl's response and then went back to his meditation. He had been constantly trying to raise his prana level like all other students but the progress had been slow, much like everyone. There must something missing that they were not taught yet that could improve his speed at increasing his level.
But in his mind, another thought was revolving. In fact he could remember much more than what he had described to Azyl till now. It was true that he could not remember the name and the ten shadows might make him remember something more important, but he had not shared everything that he knew with Azyl. And for that he felt a little guilty.
It wasn't that he did not want to let him know, but he just did not know how to explain it. For one, he definitely knew that the place was not somewhere on this continent, or for a fact in this world. And there would definitely be no inheritance there.

As for how he knew this? That was the difficult part to explain. He had his own experience just like Azyl who was dreaming about this. But different from dream, he knew that these were memories that he was remembering. Maybe memories of his past life. But that made it more complicated, as saying that the battlefield was his burial ground in his past life sounded all too unrealistic. He was just too unsure as he could not remember everything.
From the time that he could think for himself, he always had this feeling that he was missing something and when these memories started awakening in him, he knew what was it. It was strange but he was sure of this.
For now he decided that after listening to the description of the ten shadows, he would reveal more that he knew about this to Azyl. Some of his questions might also be answered about his past life after finding about the ten shadows. He was sure somehow that the number ten was important to him in his past life. But there was a detail that left him confused, which is- how was Azyl related to all this? Was he also a person who had memories of his past life like him? He could only hope that the next time when Azyl told him the final details he would have more information.
"But how tiring is this martial arts training. Aghghgh I can't take it anymore. Aren't Elementalists supposed to stand afar and bombard there enemies with different elemental attacks. What use will training us in combat do?" A tired voice sounded.
Azyl had personally experienced true hell after one week of physical training. Their teacher named Rawk was really strict and made sure that everyone did their reps. It was truly tiring, much more for Azyl as someone who always looked to slack off.
"You may not be aware of the reason they are teaching us this yet but it must have some correlation. As far as I can think, just using attack from a far range to obstruct your enemies would mean that you would be unguarded in close combat. An agile enemy would naturally take advantage of it, so maybe this is a way to react to that and maintain our distance." Zewoulf reasoned with him.
"Yoga is so much better in my opinion. It is relaxing and lets you fall asleep naturally. I feel that because of yoga my earlier limit of twenty minutes increased a little more in the dreamscape." Azyl laughed.
"Well we will definitely find out before the initiation about the roles that these classes play."
"Yeah, the theory teacher did say that he would explain some important stuff the day before the initiation. Hopefully the dream really will end tomorrow so that I don't miss the last class two days later. He might really strangle me if I slept through that." He again laughed boisterously.
