《My Cerberus Girlfriend》Book One: Chapter 11

Medusa sat on a couch, eating a bag of potato chips, and watched the television. Lewis had removed most of the unnecessary things inside the warehouse, except the furniture and the entertainment system. From a cheap clothing shop, he brought her a fresh clean black dress with high heels.
Medusa grew tired of walking around barefoot that wore out her poor soles. Wearing her fifty peplos dress made her looked like a harlot from a dirty street.
The potato chips were Cheese Stix, very interesting with a crunchy cheesy taste. It was the only nurture she could eat for now, but Lewis left to get her a better meal. Hopefully big enough to fill up her stomach.
The television was another marvel to her. Like a magical crystal ball, the flat square screen displayed different people in unfamiliar places. However, the flat box wasn't showing her a prophecy or a location by her own choosing. Like most magic crystal balls, they showed her fortune-telling and where her enemies were at. Too bad she doesn't have one anymore.
But the television showed her many things. History, news, and shows with more magical effects than stage plays could conjure up. One show has moving lifelike images in colorful backgrounds. Lewis said they were cartoons, meant to entertain children.
Medusa didn't care about the entertainment shows. She wanted to learn about the new age and focused on the news and history shows.
With a remote, she kept clicking each channel, searching for whatever would be useful for her knowledge. Each time she pushed the button, she held up a chip to one of her snakes to bite. Whatever they eat, the food easily slid down into her body. She never understood how her body works with snake hair.
So far she understood there were more colossal cities across the world. Humanity had explored the entire world, establishing new kingdoms with their advanced technology. They even built a starship that landed on the moon in the dark heavens. How extraordinary was that?
Of course, they had to conquer weak people to spread their kingdoms. Sometimes power required blood to spill so the empires could rise.
To Medusa's surprise, there were new religions with nothing to do with the Olympian gods and goddesses. Even surprising, she found a documentary show about the Greek gods, stating they were a myth inspiring many stories in the media.

That made Medusa laugh very hard.
Apparently the humans had forgotten about the gods after the Olympians abandoned them for their own selfish reasons. Like when a lady leaves a cat alone for a long time, the cat will forget about its owner. The Olympians deserved that for negating their worshippers.
Without the gods and monsters keeping them at bay, the humans created their own power across the world with their machines. Wars still fought, crime never ended, but their new world never crumbled to the ground.
Another channel showed the ancient ruins in Greece. New people dominated the country, living in new buildings that held over one family. Small villages were gone, and the humans left the temples abandoned. Although not abandoned, the new people maintained the ruins for sightseeing. Indeed, humans were clever to record their histories to avoid repeating their mistakes. But the tales of heroes fighting monsters and gods turned into a myth. Only tales that don’t sound like a fantasy were taken seriously. It kind of made sense, considering no monster and a god were seen for a thousand years.
Medusa wondered if her temple had collapsed, or the people put it on display. But her temple doesn't matter anymore. It was her old life, where she was raped for being a beautiful woman in the eyes of a god. It was a false monument for a goddess who doesn't care about anyone, except for herself. But soon, Athena will face her judgment against Medusa.
"I'm back!" Lewis's voice echoed while walking through the doorway.
A black hood covered his deformed face. It helped him move around within the human community.
He approached her and held up a greasy bag. “I brought you food.”
Medusa took the bag and peeked inside it. She found a sandwich in a round bun and meat beneath lettuce and cheese. Near the sandwich was a small box, filled with odd-looking crispy sticks."What is this?"
"A burger with french fries. One of America's favorite delicacy.” Lewis smacked his stone lips. “Mmh-mmh-mmh!”
"What are french fries?"
"They are chopped up potato strips, fried in oil."
Medusa pulled out the burger and stared at it. She sniffed it, recognizing the warm smell of beef. "Hmmmmmm."
She took one bite and chewed. "Ummmmmmmm!"

The sandwich has a juicy fried flavor with tomato sauce and sweet dressing. What an enjoyable meal. Better than eating rats and bats inside her old lair.
Lewis held out his arms. "Anything else?”
Medusa's mischievous grin curled, and she held up her right barefoot toward Lewis's face. "Rub them."
“Uooooh! I like that.” Lewis kneeled and rubbed his soft stone fingers on her sole.
Mmmmmmmmh.
Having a minion was the best idea she ever had. In her past, she disagreed with slavery before Athena betrayed her. If she could find more sturdy men, she could make an army strong enough to conquer the city. But first, she wanted to relax and enjoy her foot massage.
"Ooooooh yessss!" She hissed. "Your ssstrong handssss are amazing."
Lewis chuckled. "Serving a sweet ass woman is fine with me. I’ll never disobey you.”
Hmmmmmm…..
While Lewis rubbed her feet, Medusa glanced at the television and leaned forward, widening her eyes.
Lewis looked up at her. "What is it?"
Medusa picked up the remote and turned the volume up.
On a channel, a woman in a red leather jacket held a mic toward an old man in a white coat. Both of them stood in front of a giant head statue, resting on a large flat board display. Almost human though, but it has long sharp fangs with the face of a fish.
“Thank you, Fordman,” said the woman, facing Medusa. “We are live at the California Academy Sciences at a new exhibit by Professor Garret. On the coast near Argos, Greece, Garret and his marine team had made a remarkable discovery. What you are seeing behind us appears to be a monster statue, found deep in the Argos coast. It looks like a giant fish, but Garret has other theories about his finding.” She pointed her mic toward the professor. “Can you please tell us what this thing is?”
Professor Garret wiggled his glasses on his wrinkled face. "Well, I believed it is a relic from an old temple that was-"
Medusa ignored the humans as she focused her attention on the statue.
She recognized the stone head to be Cetus, a Titan sea monster. Half fish-man, and half-giant.
The Olympian gods wiped them all out, but a few escaped. Cetus was one of them, dwelling in the deep ocean depths and attacking human merchant ships to feed.
After her death, Medusa learned Perseus used her head to turn the Titan into stone to rescue Andromeda, the princess of Argos. Her parents offered her as a sacrifice to save their kingdom from the Titan's wrath. Cetus never attacked cities, but Poseidon offered him more food and shelter if he destroyed Argos.
The gods grew jealous of Andromeda's parents. They never stopped preaching about their daughter being beautiful than the gods. By destroying Argos, they hoped their tyranny action would force the humans to give them more respect. Of course, their plan to reclaim their respect failed.
Perseus stood up to them and took Medusa's head to save Argos. He saved his lover and became the new king of Argos after Andromeda's parents died during the Titan's attack. Although the gods failed, the humans presented them with respect for a while. They allowed Argos to survive as long as Perseus ruled the kingdom.
Medusa slowly smiled at the television and chuckled.
"Something funny on the TV?" Lewis asked, pinching her toes.
Medusa pointed her finger at the screen. "That isss Cetusss, one of the greatessst fallen Titansss on the Earth. Thossse foolisssh humans found his remain and brought hisss head there."
Lews stared at the television. "What is so special about Cetus? He looks dead."
"Dead, but not dead forever." She pulled her foot from Lewis's hands and got up. "We need to head to the museum so I can claim that ssstatue."
"What is your plan with it?"
Medusa picked up her staff and smiled at it. "With my ssscepter, I can resssurrect him and order him to attack this city. His presssent ssshould draw attention to the godsss and sssummon them here. That will give me the chance to face Athena and Possseidon. If they don't come, then the humansss will sssuffer. With Cetusss under my control, nobody can ssstop me."
"Sounds brilliant.”
Medusa laughed. "Then we better ssstart moving. Cetusss isss waiting for usss."
