《The Federation Of a Thousand Earths》Chapter 25

7172-3-5 8:34 AM, Alrick McCreadie’s secret bunker
Alrick McCreadie was deeply unhappy. While he had managed to prevent needing to speak to the investigators multiple times, his house had been searched. And while he was admittedly a bit optimistic, and could never have anticipated this kind of reaction, he was smart enough to realize that at some point the UE would figure out who was behind the attack on the Elves.
He snorted. Why were they crying like that. Those fuckers had deserved that and far more. But still, the UE was very, very angry, and he knew that he could not hide from it. And when they found him… He shuddered involuntarily at that thought. It would not be good to be him in that case. Even if he managed it to trial, and although the UE was normally very careful about making sure that criminals got their fair trial, this was a big if, who could have anticipated this kind of public outrage after all, he would almost certainly be hit with everything in the book. And be convicted of that too, for good measure.
How did it go so wrong? What did he do that the entire universe seemed to have conspired against him?
He did not understand. He did not attack humans after all, just elves. They were animals, no less than animals after all. Dad had said so, and thus it must be truth.
He could not understand. He had tried for the last month. But he still could not understand. How could everything have gone this wrong. Which god had he angered? And why was the UE reacting so strongly, while fighting a war elsewhere? Where did they get the resources from?
Alrick McCreadie was a very disturbed individual. His entire worldview had come crashing down. While he had been smart enough to hide himself, he could not understand what was happening. And he would never really understand that what he did was wrong, and how it was wrong.

Elsewhere, same time
“See here, this proves it. Alrick McCreadie was the instigator of the attack.”
“Oh, why? Ah, I see. You are right. Well, we need to find that illusive fucker. Keep up the good work, and continue tracing everyone involved. I want to know precisely how much shit those assholes are involved in. And I want them brought to justice for every single bit of that”
“Understood. Well, I need to get back to work, will send this over to you a bit more polished. And while you deal with all the other crap, I continue figuring out who did what. Lets see how much I can find and if I am faster than all the others trying”, the analyst grinned at his words, but that became sour when he reminded himself about the situation that was the reason why his skills were needed.
How could anyone do something that cruel and stupid? And for what reason? A few slaves? Who would not even pay for the operation? Revenge for a slight that was nearly a hundred years in the past, and in which the Kar’Netra had not even been involved in?”
7172-3-7, 13:45, Alrick McCreadie’s secret bunker
The operation had gone well. McCreadie had been smart enough not to try and kill the police forces send to apprehend him. The only thing that one could take issue with was that it had taken this long to find the bastard and to prepare his apprehension. Admittedly, McCreadie had a lot of odd ressources available, but still, this was not a good sign for future operations like this. Something would need to be done. The commander sighed. Luckily, he would not be responsible for that mess, considering that he had only been informed of his role in this 3 hours before the operation began. If anything, his men had performed incredibly well, and had been ready incredibly fast.

Why the leaders of this operation had chosen a unit that was stationed almost exactly on the other side of the planet on their native earth, he would never know. And it was not even an important earth, so political issues were unlikely to be the reason.
Well, he was happy that this would not be his job to solve. Still, he know was presented with the issue of making sure that Alrick McCreadie got to the prison essentially unharmed. He took one look at the prisoner, winced, and amended his prior thought. Not anymore harmed. And this would not be easy, considering what this asshole had done. He could understand the anger of his men. But could they please not give that fuckers defense any help? Was this to much to demand?
He hoped not.
Excerpt from an essay about the Butcher of Kas’Aron, Alrick McCreadie, by a high school student in history class
…Alrick McCreadie is, without a doubt, one of the worst mass murderers in history. In absolute numbers, he has not caused all that much death, especially if you compare him to the likes of Hitler or Stalin, but in relative terms, with a mere 35% surviving population of an entire species, he is perhaps even the worst. He likely got a lot of his opinions from his father, who was leading the McCreadie Mining Company when the UE found out about the genocide it was involved in. Jonathan McCreadie escaped punishment, mostly because he had just gotten the company from his dad, and it could not been proven that he was aware of the happenings. Still, Jonathan McCreadie would resent the Kar’Netra for the rest of his relatively short live, and install that resentment as hatred into his son, Alrick McCreadie. Something we sadly all know how it turned out. While Alrick McCreadie, who had gotten the nickname “Butcher of Kas’Aron” from the press after his trial, never accepted that he was wrong. He is one of the best studied cases of indoctrination in history, mainly because he grabbed that much attention with his actions, and because understanding them was a priority for the UE. Hw could someone that disturbed go under the radar? He should have been under observation from the day he entered school. His life has been deconstructed, in minute detail, and we still are not certain how he was missed. Looking back it was obvious why, and it was a sign for what else we had missed, but at the time the UE did not realize that…

Path of the Ancients
When humans with the ability to control the fundamental particles of the universe with their minds were first discovered, the age of space travel began in earnest. Relativistic travel faster than the speed of light became possible and humanity moved out into the stars. When it was discovered that these Mages could be turned into effective weapons, humanity turned back to its oldest pastime of war. Hundreds of years later as humanity was on the brink of self-destruction, with its taste for war finally beginning to wane, a new organization was created. The Conclave was formed to regulate all Mage’s within the human colonies. While the colonies maintained their independence, the Conclave’s control over access to interstellar travel made them the de facto power amongst humanity. As the old saying goes, ‘Power Corrupts’, and many people were unhappy with the way the Conclave had been leveraging its authority, not the least of which were the Mages they controlled. One unregistered illegal Mage by the name of Tyrial had made it his life's mission to dismantle the Conclave at any cost. After spending decades working towards his goals alone, he realized he would need the aid of willing allies in his crusade. Tyrial would need all the help he could get learning to work with others, dealing with his own dark past, and handling unfamiliar feelings of romantic interest. Content Warning Note: They are there to cover my behind. I honestly hesitated to put them there at all but I figured better safe than sorry. Gore in particular barely applies and the sexual content amounts to light Cinemax style at best. But, at least now you can’t say I didn’t warn you. Runicka: Tournament of Monsters (A GameLit Card Game Fantasy)
The runes are changing, and with it, the game itself changes. Taygion Ardwella finds himself stranded, alone, and on the run from some very determined guards who claim Tay's stolen from them. They're right, but that shouldn't mean Tay has to give back what he took. He's only been in Stormwall for a week and already, he's earning the ire of the most powerful and notorious House that controls the city's underground. And when their scion challenges Tay to a duel of cards, Tay will find himself thrust into a game of sorcery and strategy as he attempts to both find a way out of this mess and find his own way in the world. To do both, he'll need to learn to accept guidance and coaching where it's sorely needed, craft a deck of unimaginable power, and not die whenever his opponents try and cheat him out of a hard-earn victory. But not all is as it seems in the shadows of Stormwall, and if Tay can figure out the importance of what it is he's stolen, he may just have a chance at saving the game of Runicka. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Runicka: Tournament of Monsters is a high fantasy, card game-based adventure novel with enough magic, worldbuilding, and characters to fill a Sanderson series. I would consider it a part of the GameLit subgenre. This series in particular is not an isekai, and will start and end in a high fantasy setting complete with its own lore and backstory. It is a progression fantasy, and I am writing it inspired by all the Yu-Gi-Oh mangas/animes, and all the hours I've invested/wasted (depending on who you ask) playing TCGs like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a work in progress. In your journey through Stormwall alongside Tay, you'll probably find typos, grammatical errors, and maybe a confusing sentence every once in a while (although I hope to keep these to a minimum). That said, comments and suggestions on where I can improve are not only encouraged but greatly appreciated. And finally, expect new chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**Currently on a small hiatus. I have a bit of a workplace crisis going on. I'm still writing, but I don't have time to polish and publish. Chapters will return on a regular basis soon though!!**
