《Welcome to the Upward Bound System!》"Don't you know, you never split the Party!", Chp. 26

Dante and the legion arrived at the edge of the zone finding many doors each about the same size and each spaced evenly apart by about 10 feet from one another.
Every door Dante could see was given a name by the system. Reading several he began to think, 'Lion's Den, Shadow of Death, Goblin Warren. These sound like very dangerous places to me.' Dante thought, but as that moment persisted he questioned, 'What could a lion even do to me now? Even if they gang up on me like a bunch of goblins I have Iron body. Can they even hurt me? Probably not but they can certainly hurt them...' Dante ended that train of thought as he gazed over to the rest of the Legion for a moment before continuing his inspection.
He used Eagles sight to look far off to the left and right but still every door was named.
Eagle's Sight has leveled up! Lvl. 3...
Eagle's Sight has leveled up! Lvl. 4...
As he inspected the doors however he noticed several things.
Above the door for many of the dungeons there was a large text box upon which read, "Cleared".
Every fourth door however was different. Above and to the side of them were what appeared to be several panes of glass.
Upon a closer inspection of one doorway Dante found a shimmer to the air as he looked in upon what appeared to be the well lit lobby of a hospital.
Above the doorway the name presented was, "Zone of Healing".
Dante quickly as the wind raced through the doorway into the lobby. As he passed through the door he felt his skin tingle.
He could feel the mana radiating off the doorway. He turned to face the exit and slowly began to back up.
A dozen feet back he could see off to the left and right two large windows that looked out upon the zone.
'I bet those higher windows are connected to the higher floor's.' Dante thought, kicking himself a little as he thought how stupid that sounded.
"Ok these zones are pocket dimensions so this place and the other dungeons must like small soap bubbles clinging to the edge of a much larger one. So that means that each of those door's out there leads to its own pocket dimension. Didn't they mention some of those doors leading to other Normal tutorial zones?" Dante thought aloud as he looked out to see the rest of the legion looking in at him.
"Excuse me sir, may I bother you for a moment of your time?" A femine voice asked startling Dante as he almost reflexively jumped back towards the doorway he had arrived through.
Turning Dante found a blonde elven woman in what appeared to be nurse's scrubs looking back at him from behind a counter.
Raising up a single finger about to speak Dante paused as out of the corner of his eye he saw the rest of his legion step through the doorway and looking around.
Turning his attention back to the woman he spoke, "What do you need?" He asked simply as he lowered his hand back to his side.
"I am informed that you are a cleric of substantial power. Would you be willing to help some of our patients on the higher floor's?" The elven women asked with an almost pleading voice and hands clasped together.
"What's this about patients?" Frank asked as he and the rest of the legion came to rest near Dante.

The elven female desk attendant looked at the rest of the legion. Her eyes lingering upon Hannah, Frank and Laura for a moment.
"This is a system hospital for those on earth with conditions that their health regeneration cannot heal at their current levels. On behalf of my employer, the great system, will you clergymen and women please heal them? There will be compensation for each person healed." The woman said raising her hand towards the end to draw attention to the prospect of being paid.
Dante looked to James and the rest of the legion for a moment awaiting their thoughts.
"We should at least check it out. I was kinda wondering what was happening to all the people in hospitals since the system came." James gave his opinion.
Several others agreed seeing no reason not to take a look.
Hannah looked at Dante with an expression of both sadness, joy, and stoicism.
Once more Dante turned to the elven women, "Please, lead the way Miss?"
"Greenwood. Sasha Greenwood." She replied and they carried on.
--------------------------------------------------------
After a short walk they found themselves in a ward filled with hospital beds and people on those beds.
As soon as they entered the room they each received a notice.
You have entered a system designated recovery room! Health regeneration is doubled for the duration of your stay...
They stayed together as they walked down the middle of three double rows of hospital patients.
As he looked upon the dozens of people in this row alone he couldn't help but to want to help these people. Many of them seemed to be like Hannah, cancer patients. Then there were people whose hair was wild and seemed completely disconnected with reality.
After a moment an idea struck him, he tapped the elven woman on her shoulder asking her to stop for a moment. When she did he turned to face the legion and said, "Ok guys I think we all want to help the people here so here's what I propose. Hannah, and my mom and dad will stay here to heal people..." Dante paused for a moment as he produced a large sack of money from seemingly nowhere.
"Here are 5,000 small gold pieces. You guys can use this to buy some of the higher level healing spells. I'll keep a good bit on me as a just incase. I will go with the rest of the legion and dungeon dive. What do you guys think?" Dante rushed out his words as he handed his dad the large and heavy sack of gold pieces.
James looked at his party as they began a discussion of the matter in hushed words.
Dante looked to his parents who were looking back and forth between him and each other, silent for the moment.
"What do you think Califa?" He asked her point blank.
Looking at him with a stunned expression, Califa simply rubbed her eyes with her hand before looking at him and saying, "I'm ok with it but I have never seen anyone throw this much money around except the richest people in Orsandor." She said her expression became one of mild anger.
"Orsandor? Is that one of the big cities in your world?" He asked, a bit curious.
"Yes but don't change the subject! I am for this idea..." Califa said her voice fading as she seemed to draw into herself after the initial outburst. Dante simply moved in and slowly gave her a hug which she surprisingly reciprocated. After a moment they parted and Dante looked at the rest of the Legion who were now breaking their huddle seeming to have reached a consensus.

James stepped forward along with Hannah. "Hannah and the other ladies of our party have made the determination were going along with this idea." James said his voice hinting towards annoyance and a bit of anger. Hannah on the other hand seemed to beam with joy at the conclusion they had reached.
Turning to his parents as they turned to him they nodded. "Any recommendations?" Frank asked.
"Greater and lesser restoration. That will heal a lot of the things in here i suspect. Maybe even Heal, though that spell will probably consume most of the gold if each of you get it. There is also the problem of the spell's power." Dante said startign to think aloud before realizing and stopping himself.
"If I may." A voice came from behind them, turning Dante saw it was Sasha who had chimmed in. "I have been made aware of your capabilites by the system. I can tell you with certainty the problem of over healing with radiant energies was fixed long ago by the cooperation of the system and many gods. This spell, Heal, will be most useful for the more serious cases. Also the system is willing to subsidze your purchasing of any healing spells of 3rd level and under for this task." Sasha finished and awaited their response.
"Well damn." Dante said, and several others said something of the like.
"So wait what was this about the exploding problem?" Laura chimmed in for a moment.
Turning Dante said simply, "Certain spells allow your to exceed your normal max in a manner. This took the form of temporary hit points that would fade after like a day had passed. The problem was that if you received too much, like your hp has been doubled or more. You would explode. So how did they fix it?" Dante said before turning back to the elven woman.
"The gods restructured divine magic in such a way as that instead of exploding a core of divine magic would form within the being. This core would act to keep the creature from exploding by enhancing their physical body until such time as the temporary Hp would dissapate. There was a limit to this protection of course but it works very well in most cases. This core also allowed people minor clerical abilities at the expense of the radiant energy within the core." A breathe before she continued.
"This fix served two purposes, it was later discover. One is as I have already told you but the other was to connect the god of the caster to the being in which the core formed. This allowed them to spread their faiths to the stars." Sasha said.
'Damn it! Now i think i have to stay...' Dante thought as he felt a hand gently grasp his shoulder. Looking right he saw Hannah there who smiled at him and raised something up for him to see. It was a multi color stained glass heart embroidered by golden wire being grasped by a skeletal hand. The holy symbol for Rosana.
"Our lady Rosana has been speaking to me since you cured me. I would be glad to help you spread her name." She said as she smiled warmly and Dante did the same.
"Thank you." he said.
"Your welcome." she said.
Dante turned to Sasha and asked her a question that had been bugging him. "Are you a real doctor?" he asked rather bluntly.
"Ha!" His question having apperantly elicited a laugh from her.
"Yes I am a real Doctor. I trained at a medical school before the system arrived upon my world about 100 years ago. Also I can tell that you are comparing me to your elven friend there and I asure you we are not from the same world. I have learned some of your history since I arrived. While much of it only reaffirmed much of what I had been told about humans previously I was glad to see that Humans could go so far without magic." Sasha stated.
"So what made you come here." Dante asked, curious.
"When your system connected to the wider system notices were sent out. These notices wildly varried in their contents and who they were for but they always pertained to something that person cared about. In my case even though I am not religious I received a notice about the amazing new healing spells that where added to the system because of this place. I was able to get here in short order because I was running a hospital similar to this one in another normal tutorial zone." A breathe and then she continued.
"When these new spells were added to the system I demanded a transfer that i may see and experience these new spells first hand. I decided moving wasn't such a bad idea. So, I moved my clinic here and began speaking to the many people who were left in my care by the system. Few of them had broad knowledge of magic and spells like you seem to. Can you do me a favor and show me this, Heal spell?" Sasha asked with her arms pressing her breasts inward as if tempting Dante to get him to do what she wanted.
Dante had no complaints even as Califa looked at Sasha in disgust. He opened the system store and spoke his request. "D&D spells, Heal and Harm."
Heal, 6th level
Choose a creature that you can see within range. A surge of positive energy washes through the creature, causing it to regain 700 hit points. This spell also ends blindness, deafness, and any diseases affecting the target. This spell has varitable effects on constructs and undead.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the amount of Healing increases by, INT, for each slot level above 6th.
Spell purchase cost: 1000 small gold pieces.
Mana usage: 800
Harm, 6th level
You unleash a virulent disease on a creature that you can see within range. The target then takes, Veritable, necrotic damage, or less if they manage to resist some or all of the spells effect's. This spell cannot slay a targeted creature. If the target fails to resist the spell, its hit point maximum is reduced for, (Caster Int divided by 10 hours), by an amount equal to the necrotic damage it took. Any effect that removes a disease allows a creature's hit point maximum to return to normal before that time passes.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the amount of damage increases by, INT, for each slot level above 6th.
Spell purchase cost: 1000 small gold pieces.
Mana usage: 800

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.

Pawns of God
Five Lines PitchJoin Mark in his fight against a God and change the game's destiny! Delve into a slow-paced story focused on the progression of the main party and the development of the world. Mark himself will be narrating his life inside the game, and to a much lesser extend outside. Guild building, economy, and strategy are the central pieces of the novel. Mark is not overpowered, he will have to build his own power through action-packed battles, trials, traumas, love, and death. Accompany him, the healer and the strategist, an agent of chaos, in the adventure of his life. Without further preamble, I will let Mark take the mic. SynopsisHi! My name is Mark. This is my story, my life as I live it day after day. I’m in my thirties, and there’s nothing I love more than playing online games. I’ve just joined the action on the newest VRMMO game, Pawns of God. An immersive experience you can play while sleeping. Of course, as a game that takes pride in its long development and technological advances, everything inside seems and feels real. Beware, this is not a game-turns-real story. I love my own world and I would detest being summoned into another one. If that ever happens, I’ll just quickly take my life and be done with it. I play with my friends, in a party of 5. We have taken several roles, but lately, I've come to love being a healer. It's my secret ambition to someday be the shotcaller. I am not overpowered. If there is any bug or exploit in the game, they are yet to be discovered. Anyhow, for a game of this scale, the company is pouring all of its resources into test servers, QA, and beta tests. I don’t expect to find any, so I’ll be playing the game just like any other person. I must say, though, I am easily distracted, as you will immediately notice once you start. I'm working on it, I promise to improve! I am no hero. Being in my 30s, my heart is too old for this shit. I wouldn’t mind being one, of course. Who hasn’t dreamt of it? Either way, I’m not doing any grand quest to save the world. Whatever the game throws to their users, I’ll be there to experience it. Most of my life, at least the interesting parts that I’ll be narrating, happen inside the game itself. Rarely, there will be some IRL (In Real Life) chapters. You’ll understand, however, that as a freelance software developer, there is not much I can entertain you with when outside the game. Did I say I love games? Well, I’m also a fan of LitRPG literature. You know, journeys of magic, relationships, personal development, items, skills, discovery… In the spirit of not overwhelming my public, I’ll condense each chapter into circa 1500 words. You might have noticed some tags over this story, let me elaborate. I like to swear. I’m not shy when it comes to cursing my enemies, friends, or even myself. When there’s blood, I tell it as I see it. And… it hurts to admit it, but I’m not a casanova. Of course, this doesn’t mean that I won’t ever find love. So, in case I do end up finding it, let’s keep my sexual options open. As for traumas, none yet, but the future is vast and unknown. Release Schedule The schedule is subject to change, particularly if enough readers end up loving it. All chapters are already written, thus there is enough freedom to modify them. Arc 1 * Chapters 1-14: Each released one day and an hour later than the previous. Starting with chapter 2 at 09:20 UTC+2 on day 1, and finishing at 21:20 UTC+2 on day 13.
