Side-story
Premonition of Greed
BANG!!
The echo of a shot rings out as the shooter lowers his pistol. The jell body riddled with holes, steams with the latest shot to its torso.
“Looking good Joker! How’s that arm and leg workin out for ya?” A man’s voice calls out of the darkness from behind him.
Joker turns, whipping his hair around in the process.
“It’s working great! I never thought that I would be able to get this much flexibility and strength from something this mechanical!” Joker exclaims to the man.
As if on cue, he flex’s all of the mechanical joints in his new arm around the pistol. The man walks out of the darkness and leans against the wall, 15 ft. from Joker. Most of his body is visible, all except for the face. It was a somewhat muscular body, as if it had been trained through mostly weights, dressed in a well fit grey and yellow spacesuit. He holds a helmet in his hands with an overly large visor wrapping around the head, as if the visor was a small dome.
“So what’d you come down here for Sugarlips?” Joker asks the man.
“Oh you know, just wanted to see how you were doin. Oh and I hear something big is gonna happen soon.” Sugarlips says with a grin.
Joker frowns in response.
“What do you mean something big? Did something happen?” he asks.
“I don’t know if something will happen or if something has already happened. All I know is this. I overheard the Major talking on the comm to someone about a new dig site found in the Belt. After he heard it, he seemed to have an overjoyed expression on his face.” Sugarlips replies with a grin.

Joker’s eyes widen at what it could be and lowers his head for a moment.
“Do you know if he was sent the coordinates?” Joker asks quietly.
Sugarlips eyes narrow with suspicion.
“For what purpose would you wish to know that?” He says quietly.
Joker brings his face up, now looking straight at Sugarlips.
“Because from what I’ve seen, men like him always have some ulterior motive. When I met him he looked to me to be a man consumed by greed.” He explains lightly.
Sugarlips eyes widen at this and looks down in thought.
“If what you say is true, then this might be bigger than I thought.” he says with a small amount of wonder showing through his voice.
Joker turns back to the target raising the pistol and says with a final note, “Let’s just hope nothing too drastic comes from this.” and fires off another round, straight through the head of the jell body.

John was a fan of system apocalyspes, so he thought he knew what coming when he got caught up in one. He was wrong. This was an apocolypse in the original sense of the word, an unvieling. There were no ravenous hordes of monsters, no genocidal tutorials, and certainly no aliens from another dimension. Just humans. So John thought, "How can I exploit this?" This is my first story, and I am writing it as I go. Dont expect a regular update schedule or much long-term foreshadowing.
