《Evolution-From the Bottom to the Top》Chapter 1- Pretzal who?

Black. That was all he could see. He never had a cluastophobic problom with small spaces, but he felt pretty panicky right now. Can't forget to mention that he has no limbs and can't speak. You know S*ar Wars? Well it felt like he was going through hyperspace. Time seemed to warp and had no meaning. It seemed that hours were seconds, and seconds, years.
But suddenly there was white everywhere and he couldn't see. He was still going through the painful, hyperspace feeling when he was yanked out and thrown into a newer one. This one was ten times less powerful but still hurt. Just enough for him to ask himself this,
'Where am I going?'
--------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Unknown
Eight orbs of seemingly gas were floating around windows in a white room which was showing different events in various parts in the world. Each orb had a variety of colors and sometimes a picture of an animal would appear, made from spirals of gas. Over in the corner, an orb of green, yellow, and red floated near a window where it sat cussing. It was also one of the larger balls of gas, symbolizing their age. His names, known to the humans at the area and time was Quetzalcoatl, Huitzilopochtli, and Tlaloc to the aztecs and in Florida, Little Giver and Breath Taker. Those were his favorite forms as wells, but he liked to go by the name of Quetzalcoatl.
Yes the balls of gases are all gods, and each one watches over a continent. They used to hold competions to see how fast their humans would evolve their technologies, but none of them could've thought that when Quetzalcoatl turned into his alter ego, Tir, when he gave Thomas Edison, Einstein, and others a couple vague ideas, that they'd shove humanity faster than any would've thought possible. This was very rare for a planet this young.

He sighed and looked over at Asia's ball of gas. While he did have rivalry with the Asian "gods", they were still friends, no matter what the humans believed or how many "Cold Wars" they had. He looked up, tiredly, at the head Gas god, which many humans would call God. While he isn't the main god of all time, since this was only one planet in the multitude of universes, he still acted like he was above everything and created them (Which he didn't). His ball of gas is a whiteish yellow, which pulses every so often with the pictures of man and various animals.
Suddenly, Quetzalcoatl had an idea. Every so millennia, they would send a human to another planet to even out the balance in the multi-verse, with the occasional summoning magicks from other worlds. He quickly turned back to the window showing a terrorist attack on a bus somewhere in Florida.
He looked at who died. 'Hmm, an old woman, she has some nice regrets which could make this process easier, but she had seemed like she accepted her death. Too bad. '
'However this young man seems interesting.' He had decided. This man will do. As soon as he had died from a bullet to his head, Quetzalcoatl started making preparations, but unfortunately, other gods started to notice his magic symbol. They started to clambor over to him yelling. Quetzalcoatl could only smile,' Hah these old fools, I had already chosen him, and the systems of the multi-verse agrees. There is nothing you can do.' He thought triumpantly. Until the magic circle was interupted by "God" when he had sent a magical spike towards Quetzalcoatl, breaking his focus.
"No! "yelled Quetzalcoatl, barely taking control back while simutaniously stopping the other gods. But it was too late. "God" had managed to wipe out many of the soul's memories as well as the planet which Quetzalcoatl had decided to place him. With only a few seconds to spare, he pushed the other gods back and typed into the magic circle the coordinates to a relatively new planet in a very far universe. Now he can only hope that the soul will be able to make it and not die too quickly, maybe become his champion, oh and that his own punishment won't be too hard. Whelp, he could only hope sadly.

But Alcar knows that there is an exciting world of adventure out there. And when he sees a half-orc master sorcerer walking through his neighborhood, he decides to grab his chance. Soon though, it is all too clear that Alcar, clumsy and lazy as he is, lacks any natural magical talent. It also becomes apparent that Master Maluhk is only interested in ’apprentices’ in order to get someone to do his laundry and tidy up his books. At best, Alcar and the others have signed up to do unpaid labor. Things go from bad to worse when his fellow applicants for the role of apprentice prove to be reckless in the extreme, and as Master Maluhk’s tower catches fire, Alcar soon finds himself being blamed for their misdemeanors. Can Alcar clear his name, gain another chance, and learn enough to show that he has the potential to be a proper sorcerer’s apprentice? [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The Book of Hickory
Now why did Hickory go and punch that Angel? Sure it spooked him, popping up right there at lunch, and yet, it wasn't fear that balled his hand into a fist - Cause wouldn't you? Wouldn't anyone - with a sick Ma at home, Da long dead, buried, all them prayers piling up on bruised knees, unanswered? Hickory was angry, all right. He was fierce, now - cause that Angel didn't show up to give no help, that Angel came by asking for it - with all that power just plain to see, the power to fix the world and all that ails it! And now look what poor Hickory has to do - to save the world? Now how is he supposed to do that when its taking near everything he's got - just to keep them chickens safe, Ma fed, and himself out of trouble - All he wanted was maybe just a dance with May, maybe a bit more, to hold her close? That she's sweet, now, a voice like an angel, but now she's over there lookin at him like he's more than a man. And that's not to say Hickory is bad, not all the time, not ever on purpose - just there are things a man has to - That drinking and fighting ain't wrong just as long as the chores are done proper first, that those parts of life that make it worth living ain't no sin, that loving a lady is proper and Hickory just has so much love to give! And May is special, right, sweet and soft, now she's sophisticated. That she wears her passion like a pearl necklace? That certainly Hickory would notice, naturally - that she's already spoken for, perhaps taken? That ever since Hickory came back, that all she can think about is swallowing - those strange feelings, because it wouldn't do, would it? For a Lady? But certainly she can worship him and still be seen with Weston Covanger? Because Weston needs May, that what happens in the Study is only half the battle, the Men's Business, and he's far too proud to settle for half of anything. That if he wants to move up the ranks of his family, to be more than a Covanger, to become the Covanger? He's going to need a woman in the Kitchen as well - he's going to need May. And if that seems a bit old fashioned? A bit too much like the Wild West? Well the West is starting to get wild again now that everyone starts to Drink. A different take on LitRPG where answers aren't given - they must be earned, discovered and fought for, one at a time. An orator style, a long read, filled with magic buildings, crafting, alchemy, but most of all - This is a story about the human spirit. About understanding what defines a person, their morals, their beliefs, and also faith when everything they understand becomes challenged - changed. So do they. People can change. They will. Just not always for the better, not always - sometimes. Sometimes that's enough. Sometimes that's even everything.
