《Twisted Nerves》Level 1: Welcome to Hyria

Unless I'm bored this should be all for today~
Just to be sure, Lia is 17 now.
It's been six months since the release of Hyria, and everyone's crazy about it. The graphic, the AIs of the NPCs, the realism, each thing, greatly surpasses everything till now created. The first two months or so, information about Hyria was everywhere, but as the players noticed the difficulty of each new level, new information was difficult to find.
Closing her laptop, Lia leaves her room, goes down the stairs and enters the 'Capsule Room'. She and her mother got one of the newest Crathos capsule each, and also a free subscription to Hyria, thus not having to pay monthly to play the game. Her mother, like everyone in the company, got to start playing one month before the release, but Lia was still deciding if she really wanted to try this 'thing' or not.
Going near her mother's capsule she pressed the 'Wake Up' button, which sent a message to the player inside to disconnect. Five minutes later, the capsule opened and a woman wearing some comfortable-looking clothes, which you really wouldn't wear outside, came out.
"I take it you have decided?"
Yawning, Elisabeth asked her. Many people straight up slept in-game, since with 2 hours of real time, you'd be sleeping for 8 hours.
"More or less; it's 1 pm, let's eat something mom"
The two went in the kitchen and started preparing food, chit-chatting about this or that. When the food was ready they sat to eat at the usual table, not speaking a word. It wasn't an awkward silence, since both of them disliked talking while eating. Well, maybe it was only Elisabeth that didn't like it, while Lia just didn't care. Like always.
"Yvonne, if you want I can let you join my guild, like that, you'd level up like nothing, you'd be able to have the best items and you'd see a lot of exciting things!"

Elisabeth broke the silence, smiling all the while she talked to her daughter. She did think that maybe she was pushing her luck, after all, apart from the 'problem' (if you can really call it like that) that she and Lia already spent a lot of time together (when she wasn't playing, like during meals or training), even if she was the guild master, she couldn't easily use her precious friends' things.
"..It's okay, you don't have to do that, after all I'm just gonna play to get used to seeing with both eyes"
Even though Lia lived until now with only her right eye, and with a cute embroidered white eyepatch on her left eye, lately her mother was pushing her to get an artificial eye. Maybe it was because of that recent thing at school. Anyway, Dr. Kris said that Lia could have problems, suddenly having a new left eye, so he came up with the idea of making her accustomed to it through Virtual Reality. At that point, her mother convinced the two to use Hyria as rehab.
Having finished lunch, they put the plates in the dishwasher and went to the capsule room. Her mother checked the second capsule, the one for Lia, and then nodded satisfactorily.
"Yvonne dear, please take off all your clothes"
The first time one used a capsule, or when one wanted to "update" their body/avatar in VR, they had to be completely naked, enter the capsule, and then be covered with nano-liquid for 5~7 minutes. After that one could wear whatever one wanted. Following her mother's instructions, Lia undressed and entered the capsule.
New user detected
Lying inside it, with the darkness surrounding her, she could feel the interior of the capsule slowly filling up after the system message disappeared. She remembered she never asked how one could breath in those conditions, but it didn't really interest her that much, so she made a mental shrug and waited for the capsule to finish analyzing her body.

With the nano-liquid gone, two new messages appeared.
Do you wish to begin the character creation?
"Yes"
Beginning the transition of the consciousness..
Closing her eyes, Lia felt a strange sensation and then she found herself standing naked in the middle of a white room. A second after, a female voice filled the room.
>
Thinking very little, Lia says "no" to the omnipresent voice. She wondered if the whole thing was eerie, but she quickly abandoned the thought, it would only have been a waste of time to try to understand emotions she didn't know nor feel.
>
"..Aisha"
After thinking for a minute or two, Lia finally answers the mysterious voice.
>
She wasn't gonna play for long, and she didn't want to deal with other people.
"I'd like a quiet place without many players"
>
Darkness enveloped her once again and a system message appeared before her.

MERTICORE
Meet Ian. Ian is an IT consultant who accepted a supposedly impossible job for an incredible amount of money. However, he quickly learns why his colleagues avoided that gig like the plague. Ian now hates his job, and wants to be fired to get severance pay. However, things don’t go as planned when he downloads MERTICORE, a mysterious program that popped out of nowhere. After that, the life of Ian has changed drastically. Gone are the days of drinking bad coffee while staring at a screen. His days are now filled with magic, fighting weird creatures and even weirder people. Let’s not even mention the comrades he collects along the way, which are more often than not worse than the (numerous) enemies he makes as he bumbles through alternate dimensions. There’s also a disturbing number of laundromats for some reason. Release Schedule: One or two long(2.5k+ words) chapters per week, maybe more depending on real life.

A Cultivator's War
The tenuous balance on the frontlines between the Everdream Empire and the Beast Alliance threatens to shatter. Ephraim the Relentless’ time is near, and his death will create a gaping hole in the Empire’s defenses. If left unattended, the Beast Alliance will push deeper into human territory, thereby destroying the decades of peace the Central Territories have seen. Their peace coming under fire makes the populace recall memories of a time before cultivators existed and of a time where the blood of all genders and ages littered the streets. As a result, the entire Empire draws the same conclusion; they need strong cultivators immediately. However, strong cultivators come at a cost: their existence creates a heavy load on the limited essence density on Cella. Thus, the Empire faces a dilemma: who will pick up the mantle when it falls? And how much is the Empire willing to sacrifice?
