《Immortals: The Curse of Samsara》Chapter 5

The next day, Alina walked into class with a sore body and noticed everyone sitting on their desks, exhausted. Alina sat down smoothly, ignoring the jabs of pain her body screamed at her with while slightly clenching the back of her teeth.
“Morning guys,” Alina said to Asami and Michelle, both of whom acknowledged her greeting while continuing their business. Asami was currently practicing her Lay-Fu as she lied down headfirst on her desk while Michelle was standing near her own desk, stretching her body.
“Thank god we don’t have combat class today,” Asami moaned from between her arms.
“Dommage, it was good training,” said Michelle as she performed a kneeling lunge. Her comment made Asami turn her head and look at her grudgingly. The two began exchanging snarky comments when a commotion near the front seats occurred.
A rough looking guy had grabbed a timid looking classmate by the front of his shirt and was yelling at him for simply bumping into him. The bully was wearing an athletic undershirt underneath his uniform jacket and messy dirty blonde hair which was clearly dyed. As he raised a fist to punch the poor boy, Alina stood up and shot a flicker of electricity at the aggressive guy, stopping him.
“You’re too loud,” she said calmly. “Shut it.”
“Who the- ?” the blonde guy exclaimed as he turned to look at Alina. “Bitch, this is none of your business!”
“Oh?” said Alina with a wicked grin while cracking her knuckles, causing both Michelle and Asami to sigh.
“You wanna stop her?” asked Asami to Michelle.
“Non, je préfère ne pas m'impliquer,” replied Michelle, shaking her head.
A second later, the blonde guy was smashed through the classroom doors, shattering them as he flew into the corridor. Alina stepped out of the classroom and walked towards him while he tried getting up. Alina kicked him back to the floor then slammed her knee into his throat while using a current to paralyze him.
“You know what I love? Bullying bullies. There’s something satisfying about crushing them like ants. I dunno why, I blame Jason for teaching me that. But do you what I can’t stand even more? Dumbasses swearing at me. Makes me wanna shock'em out of swearing. So what do say, big guy? Ready for some electrotherapy?” Alina asked as she lifted her electrified hand towards his head.
“Uh, think we should stop her now?” asked Asami.
“Oui,” nodded Michelle.
“So ... why aren’t you moving?”
“Les dames d'abord,”
“Yeah, not gonna happen,”
As the two argued on who should stop Alina, a few students wearing uniforms with glowing teal outlines approached and surrounded her. Michelle swore under her breath while Asami sighed.
“Great, it’s the council’s dick brigade,” muttered Asami as one of the newcomers stepped forward.
“Alina Sage? Correctional student Olivia Smith, you are wanted for questioning involving an assault on a fellow student, please follow us,” a girl with strawberry blonde hair with her arm raised at Alina said while stepping forwards before turning to Asami. “You as well, Chiba Asami.”
“Oh? If I don’t go along with you?” asked Alina with a smirk. The new girl, Olivia, turned to look at her with gritted teeth.
“Then we’ll make you come along,” she replied as a ball of ice formed in her hand, out of a magical circle.
“Hey now, that sounds like fun,” sniggered Alina as the other correctional students prepared themselves with spells and abilities. However, before anyone noticed, streaks of electricity snaked towards them all from the floor, paralyzing them. Only Olivia managed to dodge the attack, turning to look at Alina in anger.

“Alright, I’ll come along. Lead the way, officer,” Allina said, empathizing the last word mockingly as she raised her arms to surrender.
Alina and Asami allowed the students who could move to escort them while Michelle followed behind them, causing Olivia to glare.
“Why are you following, LeBlanc? This doesn’t concern you or AEM,” she demanded while Michelle turned to stare back at her.
“Just making sure you … Quel est le mot? Ah, yes. Make sure you ‘beat cops’ don’t dépasser your … limits.” Michelle replied scathingly causing Olivia to snarl.
“I’ll have you know that while you are a member of AEM, you are also a student and, therefore, within our jurisdiction. So I suggest that you watch your mouth,” Olivia shot back.
“Your juridiction? You are children, les enfants, supervising other children. You are not les keufs.” Michelle said, then gestured at her gun as she continued. “ If you were, you would have cette.”
“Those two don’t get along,” Asami quietly explained to Alina. “They’ve been eternal rivals for cen..tu..ries..”
Asami stopped whispering as she noticed both Olivia and Michelle turning to look at her with a fuming look.
“Hey who was that dumbass back there? I haven’t seen him in class before,” Alina asked as she yawned, completely nonchalant.
“Markus Jones. He’s a classmate and the resident bully who rarely comes to class. Guess he didn’t know about you,” Asami said, grateful for the change of subject as they reached an office.
Olivia knocked respectfully at the door and opened it after hearing a calm voice telling her to enter, escorting the trio into the office. The room was larger than most, with a sectional sofa and a coffee table on the right and a circular meeting desk on the left. In the center, at the far back, was a desk where a young woman was sitting and signing papers while a tall man in glasses stood behind her respectfully.
Her wavy brown hair had caramel highlights that couldn’t hide her stunning features. She had hollow cheeks, a sharp jawline, and a pointy chin that was made more exotic when combined with her cream coffee skin tone. Her large brown eyes had a sly twinkle in them while her slim, petite figure made her look like a high schooler that was trying to dress older than her age, especially since she was wearing a semi-professional outfit. She smiled as she looked up, pausing her hand as she studied all three of them.
“Huh,” Alina looked at the nameplate atop the desk that had the girl’s name: Melanie Sofia da Pérez - Student President, it read. “Student president? Shouldn’t this be handled by, I don’t know, a disciplinary committee?”
“In normal schools, yes,” Melanie replied. “But in Second Academy, student presidents are selected by their strengths in spellcasting and esper abilities, so the board of directors decided to combine the correctional committee with the student council.”
“Oh? So if I beat you, do I get to be prez?” asked Alina teasingly.
“Watch your mouth,” said the man in glasses as he looked at Alina threateningly.
“Make me Mr. Secretary,” sneered Alina as she gestured at him provokingly.
“You- !” the man lunged towards her while strengthening himself with a spell. “I’m the Vice-President, Enzo Pierce you- “
“Yeah, yeah. You talk too much,” interrupted Alina as she blasted him away using an electrical shield. Enzo stumbled as he tried to regain his balance and slow himself down but he ended up crashing into the coffee table. As he stood up to continue the fight, Melanie stopped him by raising her hand.

“Atta boy,” said Alina while clicking her tongue as though she were talking to a guard dog.
“Please, can’t we be civil about this?” requested Melanie as she massaged her eyebrows. She then gestured to the trio to sit but Michelle shook her head as the other two approached.
“Civil? Sure,” replied Alina before sitting on a chair opposite Melanie and raising her legs onto the desk. Melanie raised her eyebrows when she saw this and burst out giggling, surprising everyone in the room.
“Ah, you two really are siblings,” she said to Alina while wiping her tears. “Mr. Sage did the exact same thing at the teacher’s conference today.”
“What's a student doing in a teacher’s meeting?” Alina asked curiously.
“Benefits of being president,” winked Melanie as she replied. After that, she seemed to contemplate something before raising her own legs onto the desk, imitating Alina who watched her with perplexed eyes. Melanie closed her eyes and leaned backwards while resting both hands behind her head.
“President …” a shocked Olivia began to say but was ignored by Melanie who seemed to be enjoying herself while Enzo gritted his teeth and looked away.
“Mmm, I see why you both do it though, it really is relaxing,” Melanie said before opening her eyes and returning to her normal position. “But let’s get down to business.”
“Alright,” said Alina as she also lowered her legs and sat with her back straight. Alina could see that while Olivia and Enzo were condescending and authoritative, Melanie was the opposite and Alina couldn’t help but have a good impression of her.
“I understand why you attacked that student yesterday but it was violent. Excessively violent. Even now, he is suffering from a concussion and that’s on top of his broken nose,” Melanie said, her voice soft but stern.
“I’ll admit, I wasn’t thinking properly,” Alina confessed. “But frankly, he deserved it.”
“Maybe, but that’s not for you to decide. A simple punch to knock him out would have sufficed,” Melanie counter-argued. “Also, I heard that there was an altercation today as well?”
“She sent a student flying through a door, breaking it in the process,” Olivia informed Melanie. “She has no regards for rules and regul-”
“Yes, Olivia, thank you,” interrupted Melanie who sighed. “Alina, please don’t damage school property. It’s more paperwork for me and I have enough as it is.”
That’s what you’re concerned about?! Thought every person in the room.
“Now, Asami,” Melanie turned to look at Asami as she spoke. “You … I’ve been told to warn you about your escapades with your girlfriends. I get that you’re young and in process of discovering sex, but please don’t make out in discreet places around the school. And please, please, keep your clothes on. That correctional student could barely walk after he found you topless with your ... girl.”
“I didn’t … you’re a les?” asked Alina in shock, turning to at Asami who was sitting beside her. “Where’s your girlfriend? Why didn’t you introduce her?”
“Ah well, they’re not my girlfriends. They’re more like friends with benefits,” replied Asami sheepishly.
Plural? Is she trying to make a harem?! Thought Alina.
"Wait, why are you always harping about Jason then?” asked Alina.
“I told you, he’s great eye candy. Plus, I’m bit of a bi so I wouldn’t mind having him too.”
“Ack,” shuddered Alina in horror as she looked away.
“Well, that’s all I wanted to talk about,” Melanie said while chuckling at Alina’s response. “Enzo, make some coffee, please.”
“If that’s all then we’ll take our leave,” Alina said as she stood up.
“Wait, I’d like to talk to you some more. Alina,” said Melanie. “You’re not in rush, so why not have some snacks and chat with me?”
“I thought there’s nothing else to talk about?” Alina looked at Melanie bemusedly.
“There isn’t but with you here, I can stop working,” said Melanie gleefully to the exasperation of both Enzo and Olivia. Melanie cheerfully led the three to the sofa while Enzo placed some cookies and drinks on the coffee table. As they all conversed on various subjects, Melanie asked Alina to be her friend before eventually bringing the conversation back to Jason.
“So, Alina. I was wondering … could you introduce me to your brother?” she asked.
“I- what?” Alina was caught off-guard by the question.
“Well, I mean we did meet, but I didn’t get to talk to him. And seeing that we’re friends and all…”
“You just became my friend to get into his pants…” Alina replied mechanically.
“Yep,” Melanie responded quickly. “I mean, I do want to be friends with you but if I can get your brother ... Well, then that’s two birds with one stone. Besides, something tells me you won’t disagree.”
“Oh, why’s that?” asked Alina, annoyed at the conversation. She didn't understand why Melanie was so confident, especially since this was their first meeting.
“Because I’m a college student? That makes me older than most of your friends." Melanie paused and looked at Alina, waiting for her to process this tidbit.
"You're ... older than us?" Alina asked in stupified shock.
"Yep, I'm 22 this year!" Melanie replied sweetly while beaming.
Fuck, talk about real-life legal jailbait, Alina cursed in her mind. But that's sorta creepy...
"And if he gets it with me, the girls won’t chase after him,” continued Melanie slyly. “Plus, I know him. The real him.”
Alina turned to look at her sharply with narrowed eyes while Melanie continued smiling while sipping her coffee. She could tell that while this student president had a sweet and innocent look, she was actually sly and foxy.
Damn it all, Thought Alina. I can’t see through her! What is she scheming? How much does she know?
“I’ll … think about it...” Alina said warily after a while.
“Great! How about we get together to go shopping this weekend? I know an amazing place that sells the cutest clothes ever!” Melanie said as she beamed.
***
After Alina, Asami, and Michelle left, the room was deadly silent as Melanie stopped smiling, her brows furrowed as she contemplated something.
“President, I don’t like this. Why must we be so polite and nice?” Enzo asked as he wiped his glasses.
“Don’t be stupid. Why make an enemy when you can be friends instead,” she replied while sighing. “You really need to stop being so arrogant. Besides, I don’t like this assignment that the directors gave. They’re stupidly trying to aggravate him.”
“Well, well. You have both beauty and brains. A woman after my heart,” a husky voice sounded out, causing the members of the student council to jump up defensively. Leaning on a wall was a man with short messy hair and a sheepish smile on his face while he lazily sipped some coffee from a cup. His dress shirt was half-stuffed into his pants while the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up he had three buttons undone giving everyone a peek at his chest. This messy careless look only served to accentuate his devilishly rogue attitude.
“Mr. Sage! I … I wasn’t aware that -” Melanie stuttered wondering when he arrived.
“Please, it’s Jason. Especially to a beautiful girl like you. And I’ve been here for a while,” Jason said while swirling the cup in his hand. “I must say though, I was flattered that you wanted to meet me so badly.”
“I- “
“We can discuss a date later on. What I’m more interested in is what you know about me. The real me.” Jason emphasized the last sentence while slowly walking towards Melanie.
“Please keep you-” Olivia tried stepping forward to stop him when Jason released his killing aura. A stifling presence descended on the room, paralyzing everyone with its pressure. The heaviness penetrated their chests, restricting their breathing as their sights slowly dimmed. The metallic scent of blood flooded their senses almost drowning them as the figure of Jason slowly walked onwards.
Unlike Olivia and Enzo who were nearly collapsing from the pressure, Melanie, who was blushing with flushed cheeks, tried to control her breathing as she looked at Jason approaching her. Her heart was pounding when she made eye contact with those soul devouring eyes; Jason’s aura had the complete opposite effect on her, arousing her instead of immobilizing her.
“Tell me,” he whispered as he slowly lifted her chin with one hand, his lips almost touching hers. “What is the real me? My real name?”
Melanie leaned forward trying to kiss him but Jason stopped her with a finger, slowly tracing her lips with it before gently stroking her cheeks.
“Tell me first,” he breathed, his voice nearly causing her to faint.
“Fenrir,” Melanie moaned. “The Wolf.”
“That’s right. What a clever girl. Here’s a reward,” he murmured before kissing her. His lips locked with hers as his tongue slowly flickered across her lips before forcing itself into her mouth. Melanie was unable to respond as a shock ran through her shuddering body stimulating her sexually. With a scream muffled by his kiss, she climaxed, her shivering legs forcing her to collapse into Jason’s arm.
Pulling away, Jason slowly laid her back into her chair while she gasped for air, her sight blurry while her legs squirmed, trying to hide the mess in between. Jason, on the other hand, stopped applying his aura on the other two, allowing them to breathe again as they fell to their knees.
“I like you,” he said, his eyes not leaving Melanie’s. “You knew I was close by, listening to you. You also knew my true identity but you didn’t share it with those idiots. You wanted me to show my prowess, you wanted them to fear me.”
“Yes,” Melanie gasped for breath as she looked at Jason. “They’ve been complacent for too long, interfering in school affairs however they like and disrespecting Ms. Graves for far longer.”
“Mmm,” Jason hummed while looking out the window beside him before turning back to her. “An agent of the Council? You’re an executioner… no, no. You're their hidden blade. Their Viper. Fascinating.”
His quiet voice was heard only by Melanie as he leaned forward to brush his lips against hers once more before he calmly walked out of the room, leaving everyone stunned. Melanie sat up straight, trying to calm herself before turning to Olivia.
“Tell the Board of Directors what happened here and make sure to tell them that he’s Fenrir, they should know what that means. Also, make it clear that they stop interfering with the school. Do it after he’s done demonstrating to them,” Melanie instructed her while hiding her smile.
Mmm, what a delicious man, thought Melanie as she slowly licked her lips, an intoxicating look in her eyes. This place is finally starting to spice up.
