《Perfect World》Chapter 1

Scene:

A small office. Opposite of the door was a brown study desk. Two simple armchairs were in front of the desk. A cabinet full of books and small trinkets was on its left. To its right were two tall windows draped in white curtains. The sun was setting. The open windows let in a breeze that thinned the long fabric into ghostly sheets that caught and soothed the light of a fading sun.

A young man sat at a spruce desk stacked high with papers, hand idle, his pen's ink bloating the last letter of an unfinished word. His elbow pressed into the desk as he faced the windows. The young man's nails pushed against his lips and an unfocused gaze let the sunset blind him. The warm tangerine light stretched across him like a lazy cat and the longer he looked the more its slow deliberate yawns coaxed him to sleep. He caught himself, blinking fiercely to stay awake, but keeping his eyes open became a noticeable burden. He turned his attention to the documents for stimulation, groaning and ruffling his blonde hair out of anger at the unending stacks of papers. The young man's blue eyes sought out the clock hanging above the office door. He sighed, wishing it wasn't another long night.

*Thunk*.

A boyish grin appeared on his face befitting his mannerisms yet not his matured body. This was his chance to break from the monotonous routine of work! He hurried to the door, hunching in time the frame just missed his forehead so eager was he to see what had happened.
