Chapter 10: Ricks First Fight

A few weeks had passed, Rick had been training with the old man, apparently, his name was Luis, but around here they call him ‘The Teacher’, which is a title he got after beating over a thousand opponents in the arena, he was not allowed to tell Rick what went down in the arena, even as strong as Luis was he told me to watch my back, Rick sighs as he reminded the conversation through his mind a few times.

As for the training part, Rick had built up some muscle already while sailing before being trapped in this unknown location, but after those weeks of training with Luis, he felt way stronger, Luis also taught him some tricks, he was going to keep secret and only use when needed.

After those few weeks of training Luis started to act differently around Rick, mostly avoiding him, making Rick train alone, Rick wondered why, but he would quickly find out, as the day of his first match started, Rick was brought to the massive gate going into the arena, the gate it self was larger than any gate Rick had ever seen, he wondered how big the arena would be compared to this gate, as the gate opens he sees blood everywhere in the arena, a man with a wolves helmet is standing on top of twenty bodies holding a shield and an axe, he roars loudly, as he looks straight at Rick, while not identifiable Rick knew he was looking straight at him, one of the guards next to him hands him a sword, as the other guard hands him a shield, as he hears a few guards behind him whisper, ‘this guy is so unlucky he has to fight the wolves warrior first, that guy is a legend in the arena, look at all those bodies around him, he will make quick work from this newbie’.

Rick does not stop looking at the man with the wolves helmet, clearly covered with blood all over, the man looks away from Rick jumping off the bodies he was standing on, he grabs one of the corpses shirt and wipes off his axe, clearly not having it the man throws his axe away, ‘Piece of junk, my original weapon was way better!’, as he grabs one of the corpses swords, this sword was clean, the man in the wolf helmet could be heard laughing from a far distance, ‘This will do, yes… this will do’, as the guards behind Rick push him in the arena, as he was barely out of the gate as it falls down almost on Rick, if that would have hit he would have been penetrated to the ground and instantly died, clearly nobody cared about him in this place, he was all alone, and that was not his biggest thing to worry about currently, as he notices the man with the wolves helmet looking straight at him, as he walks slowly toward Rick, he holds his sword right in front of him, as he throws away his shield, Rick who did not look around the arena further, took his sword in front of him as well, throwing away his shield, making both men equal in this fight, at least that is what Rick thought, but quickly he regretted it, as the swords clashed against each other the power behind the sword of the wolf helmet man pushes Rick back, not able to even stand his ground, multiple more swings right at him from the wolf helmet man, Rick tries to make distance with the wolf helmet man, but he did not let him, but that was where the wolf helmet man made a mistake, following Rick, who used one the arena against him, when the guard threw him in the arena, Rick grabbed a hand of sand, the wolf helmet man clearly did not notice that while Rick was standing up, as he came close to Rick after those first few swings, Rick faked that he wanted to make distance, but actually wanted him to get closer to be able to throw the sand right into the helmets eye holes, blinding his opponent for at least a little bit, giving Rick the opportunity to smash the non sharp part of his sword right on top of the head of the man with the wolves helmet, who instantly dropped his weapon, as the helmet made such a loud *BANG*, he got knocked out instantly, as he falls to the ground, Rick walks over to him, removing his helm, ‘Wait… you are not Luis?’, it was a total stranger, nobody he had seen anywhere around before, he was sure Luis was dodging him because he was his opponent, but apparently it was not him.

Out of nowhere Rick hears clapping from above the side of the arena, he saw Luis standing next to a man wearing a crown, ‘This is fantastic, I have never seen someone beat this man on day one, but then again, he was a weakling, after all, just kill him, he is worthless now’, Rick looks at the man on the ground clearly knocked out defenseless, he could easily kill him, Rick looked back at the man wearing the crown, he probably is the boss of the arena, and maybe this whole unknown location he was at, but no doubt went through his head, as he throws his sword down he yells, ‘I will not take a life for no reason!’, the king sighed, ‘you are no fun, guards!’, as the gate opens around twenty guards run out surrounding him, ‘Take this newbie back to his room, oh and do not feed him today, he made a bad choice’, Rick could see Luis standing next to a man wearing the crown shaking his head right at Rick.
