Chapter 2: The Woman In The Forest

Vanessa looked at the woman through the window the woman clearly was in a hurry running into the forest for some reason, she decided to follow her, the woman had long blonde hair, Maria was downstairs sitting at the table as Vanessa quickly passed her telling her she was going out to take some fresh air, leaving the house as she runs into the forest, her mother always told her to never go to the forest, it was dangerous in there, but curiosity got the best of Vanessa as she followed behind the woman, that kept on running and running, as she suddenly disappeared after she went between some trees.

Vanessa looks around her but she could not see anyone anywhere, who was that woman? Vanessa had never seen her before in the village, she kept looking for a few minutes before she went back to her home, where her mother was waiting for her, she did not question where she went at all, Maria simply asked ‘Had a nice fresh breath of air?’, she nodded at her mother, she was not going to tell her that she went into the forest.

The next day Vanessa decided to explore the forest a bit more, even though she was not allowed to by Maria she did it anyway, like a rebelling teenager you can not tell them to not do something or they will do it anyway, as Vanessa had an early morning meal with her mother, they talked a bit, before she went outside, her mother went to the harbor her new job was working in a soup kitchen, as she left she would be gone almost all day, this gave Vanessa all day to explore around the forest.

Vanessa went into the forest once more, she looked around for a few hours, she did not understand why her mother did not want her to ever enter the forest, especially not alone, nothing had happened, there clearly were no dangerous animals, or bandits in the forest, at least not as of right now it seems, as she went further in the forest, she suddenly notices a person nearby the water, she whispered to herself, ‘wait a moment that is the woman from yesterday!’, she tried to get closer as within an instant the woman threw a knife right in front of Vanessa, ‘Who is there?!’, Vanessa stood up from the tall bush, as the woman looked her cold in the eyes, ‘who are you?’, Vanessa apologized as she introduced herself, ‘I am Vanessa , I live nearby here, I saw you run into the forest yesterday I thought you might needed help but you disappeared before I could ask you what was going on, why were you In such a hurry?’, the woman sighs as she puts her other knifes away, ‘you know that is none of your busine- before finishing her sentence she looked at her once more, ‘wait a moment, you are Rick his child?’, Vanessa did not expect her to know her father but she would nod at her question, ‘I see’, before she could say anything else Vanessa instantly went in with a question, ‘you know my father?’, she nodded, ‘but before I tell you where I know him from let me introduce my self, I am Jessica’, Vanessa nods, ‘nice to meet you Jessica, where do you know my father from?’, Jessica cold look changed to a smile, ‘we use to date a very long time ago, but then a woman named Maria stole him from me’, Vanessa nodded listening further to what she had to say, ‘We use to adventure together, even sail sometimes, but nowadays I live in this forest, also I heard he disappeared’, Jessica instantly regretting bringing that up to her as she could see Vanessa her face turn to being sad, ‘I am sorry, but I am sure he is out there somewhere, probably trying to get back to you and your mother’, Vanessa nodded, ‘I will find him’, as Vanessa and Jessica sat next to each other by the water, talking a bit more, Vanessa realizing her mother did not want her to go into the forest since Rick his ex lived there, she clearly wanted nothing to do with her, and that was probably the reason she was forbidden to enter the forest at any cost.

After a while of talking Vanessa still wondered how she disappeared yesterday between the trees, as Jessica explains she did not disappear, she has a house high up in the trees which is camouflaged so well that nobody has ever found it without her help, and since it is her own house she only knows where to find it, making it extremely safe to stay in, unless there is a forest fire, but those almost never happen.

Hours went by as Vanessa and Jessica realized it was becoming dark, Jessica told Vanessa she could visit anytime she wants as Vanessa left the forest to her house, her mother was already home waiting inside, as Vanessa accidentally brings up Jessica-
