Chapter 23 – Fetcher
Ramiel waited in the living room of the building. It has furniture’s that are all top quality, from the glass vases, the paintings that are framed with tinted wood gold. Or the racks containing various weapons, made only for decoration. There is also a bronze lamp just beside the chair that Ramiel is sitting. It lights the surrounding’s rather well despite it being rather small.
Ramiel did not know what it is made. He looked around more at the living room and concluded that the owner isn’t simple. Ramiel swallowed his throat at the prospect of sitting on this place. The one who meet him at the door, who took the note left about thirty minutes ago. He has been waiting for a while now, and the thoughts of wanting to get out surfaced on his mind.
Ramiel grew restless being alone. The sound of the lamp beside him dancing and making fiery noises made Ramiel felt even more nervous. He tapped his toes on the floor; it made a bit of noise, it echoed around the room. His eyes reflected a sculpted wooden statue. It has the aurora of the sun on the back of its head. Which Ramiel assumed is some sort of deity. He is right, though that wooden statue is merely a representation of Auro when he comes into mortal lands.
Ramiel obviously doesn’t know the name of the deity. But he at least suspects that it must be the local God that the town of Tal populace worships. Ramiel then turned his eyes to the window. Outside he could see the various blooming trees. It might be the Garden of the building. The building is quite large, it is more of a villa than a house, which is to be expected since the location is on the high-class districts.

Ramiel felt that he doesn’t really belong to this place. Not like because of the interior of the room, or the silence. But because of the idea that he thinks that nobles are always arrogant. A kind of bias, he got from playing too many video games. And the way he got gawked at outside really reinforces that belief.
Should I go? It doesn’t look like someone is appearing so soon. It also getting late and my work at the Inn are starting soon.
Ramie thought of really going out. But as he was about to decide, the door located behind him opened. The one who greeted him gestured for him to follow him. Ramiel stood up without a word. He walked to the one who greeted him, and tag along. The two walk along a stair. After arriving on top, the one who greeted Ramiel opened a double door, revealing a large room containing various bookshelves and paintings. Ramiel entered along with the one who greeted him. He looked baffled at the amazing amount of books. Every corner of the room was filled with it. And as he looked around, his eyes landed on a black haired woman with long hair that is styled with two rose ribbons, wearing a long black frilly dress. The woman is quite beautiful, her red eyes paired with her all black attire that shows the outline of her body made her look like a porcelain doll.
Ramiel, who saw the woman stare at him, bowed his head. The one, who greeted him, looked at Ramiel with a bit of approval plastered on his face. Ramiel, who wasn’t able to speak then raised his head and looked at the one who greeted him. He gestured about the job, which took the one who greeted him a second to understand.

The one who greeted him looked elderly. He has a sharp stare, and his burly body, paired with his tied white hair made the sharply dressed man intimidating. Ramiel got a bit quite scared at him first but seeing that he understood, and relayed what Ramiel wanted to the lady sitting on the floor, who is writing on a small table.
A diagram of a plant and below it seems to be description? What is she doing?
Ramie inspected the rows of paper that are on the small table. He noticed that there are a lot of unused papers near the table. Also, there are rolled scrolls on the right of the lady. Ramiel thought for a while before concluding that the lady might be a scholar.
So am I supposed to fetch something for the lady and bring it to her?
Ramiel tapped his chin with his trigger finger. He really doesn’t know what his job is. He really is troubled by his inability to communicate. And now that he is here, he felt like that he didn’t really think it over on how to handle this.
...
As Ramiel pondered on what to do, the lady with red eyes heard what the message of her servant said. As she heard, she looked at the gray-haired young man in front of her. He looked average, and the lady deduced that he should be the same age as her. She really doesn’t particularly find anything strange about the lad. And he doesn’t seem to be really interested in her and look like he is troubled.
“Gundry, is this the new fetcher?” said the lady with a low voice.
“Yes Lady Aubrey...he should be able to fetch what you want along the river, or outside the town. The Healer recommended this man...”
“I see...” her eyes scanned the young man again. “So how do we work with someone we cannot communicate with?”
“Milady’s drawings should suffice. He looks like he can at least understand some basic commands. I can always act it out on what his job is.”
“Then that is good. I hope that he lasts a lot longer than the other fetchers.” Lady Aubrey said. “Let us not waste more time, have him fetched the items that I need. Make sure to let him bring it without any damage. It is not like this man can draw like me...or even talk about what I am making him fetch.”
“Yes, milady.”
The Servant named Gundry bowed his head. Turning around, he confronts the Mute that seems to be troubled and tried explaining what his job is.
The Lady looked at the troubled two and slightly smiled.
It looks like the lady and her servant is going to be trouble for a while.
