Chapter 24 – Cursed Scriber
Ramiel managed to get an explanation on what job he needs to do. It was explained by the servant, making various actions that correspond to his new job.
Which is about fetching items on certain locations that the servant would mark on Ramiel’s map, and all Ramiel need to do is get it.
Sounds simple right?
Of course not, the job is not without difficulties. There are many before Ramiel that did this job. But they all perished due to the items being somehow located in dangerous locations. The Servant didn’t ‘explain’ it to Ramiel though. He found it hard and there was no need to tell him something that would make Ramiel turn down the job.
So Ramiel is clueless at his new job’s difficulty. He didn’t know the difficulties so he just assumed that it is going to be an easy job. All he needs to do is fetch things, which should be easy. But in reality, it is difficult and problematic. But since ignorance is bliss, Ramiel just took the job.
And since it was getting late, Ramiel bid goodbye to the requesters.
As he was about to leave, the servant was called out by the Lady writing on the table. Ramiel stopped to take a look, and he saw the black wooden like right leg of the lady. He raised his brow, as the leg of the lady reflected upon his eyes. He found it peculiar, but since being sent to the world, he has gotten a bit blasé on supernatural things and the absurd. As if, there is nothing weirder than what he has already seen could happen. So when he looked at the leg of the lady with normal uncaring eyes. The lady spotted his nonchalant looked and was quite surprised that he looked undisturbed.

Normally people would be scared seeing such cursed leg. It is a curse that has been passed down by through the Lady’s ancestors and is a curse that ties them up to the job of being a scribe. A role that the lady didn’t really want. Hence if she can throw it all away, she would rather wander around the world.
But sadly the curse that is known as the scriber’s curse would put her down. So seeing someone that looked like he is not disgusted or scared, made the lady wish the fetcher a bit of good luck, although just a bit, which is a lot already when it comes to the lady.
Ramiel noticed the looked of the lady. He thought that maybe she got irritated at the look that he is giving to her leg. So afraid of being berated, he left the room, went downstairs, crossed the living room and went outside the building.
Walking a few steps away from the building, he took the parchment the servant gave him. Looking at the drawing of the on the paper, he thought about the job and made a sigh. All he needs to do is fetch the items, which is something that the lady needed to observe.
I guess with that leg, she really couldn’t go out there huh?
Ramiel thought. He then looked at the slowly descending sun and decided to walk back to the Orient Inn.
...
As night descends on the Town of Tal, the guards in charged with lighting the streets fueled the street lamps. Rays of light then filled the streets of Tal. The locals who are walking on the streets got a bit quite a relief as they can see better now. The roads are filled with people, mostly going to the business market.

Ramiel passed through bustling crowds with his hands on his pocket. Warming himself up with his cloak, he took a few more steps until he spotted the Orient Inn. Walking towards there, pushing the doors opened, he saw the Inn's bar filled with customers. The new waitress working at the Inn seems to be panicking. The Proprietress of the Inn, Felli, also seems to be busy. So when she spotted Ramiel, she immediately gestured for him to work.
Ramiel didn’t argue or make any resistance. He immediately walked up to the stairs and put his cloak in his room. After that, he took the white cloth he usually tie around his waist and proceed to get to work.
The customers bustled and chatted. Some of them were drinking with loud voices, while some are just sipping on their drinks with a sullen look. On the corner of the bar, there is a board that contains a paper nailed in the middle. It has the lord’s seal on it, and that piece of news made the people who can read it, feel despair.
Most of the customers were affected. Hence they are drinking their souls out, in order to cherish their lives. The new waitress has a bit saddened look on the corner of her face. Felli, who is busy cooking, didn’t seem bothered by the piece of news nailed on her Inn’s board.
“Long Live the War Maiden, Death to the Barbarians!”
A drunkard suddenly yelled on the bar loudly. Hearing the drunkard, the people in the Bar shouted back with the same loud voice,
“Hell yeah!”
“Death to the barbarians!
“Long live the Matriarch!”
“Praise the Sun God Auro!”
“Toast my friends!”
Various bellows came out on different mouths. Ramiel who is serving the customers did not understand any of those words so he went and did his job without any hints of enthusiasm.
He carried the tray, put them on tables, and went to the kitchen for the food. He then repeated these actions for the whole night, until the customers were lesser. And finally, when midnight arrived, the customers all left and Ramiel proceeded to clean the tables along the new waitress, who really didn’t tell her name yet.
Silently, Ramiel cleaned the tables until there was nothing to clean. Felli who saw her two workers finish their jobs clapped her hands and told them to rest.
Hearing that, Ramiel immediately took the white cloth around his waist. And went up to his room in order to take a rest from all the work he did. While the new waitress bid Felli goodbye and head back to her home.

Automata Annex
This Fiction is intended as a suppliment to my main title "I was reborn into a fantasy world as a magic robot?! Automata Prime". This is the appendix that would normally go at the END of the book. I will be updating the entries as new information is revealed in the story and linking back here from the author notes. Here we'll explore the world that I've crafted in the book, learn new things about the characters, and get a deeper understanding of how magic works. Think of it as an Automata Wiki.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
