《Young bloods (WIP)》Chapter 1: Fubar

“Stomp on it!” I yelled at our driver as Yui Yifan tossed me a new magazine and I reloaded my rifle.
“I’m going as fast as I can sire.” The young girl said as she stomped two feet on the acceleration paddle while navigating the backwards-running car.
“Overlord, this is Sakura Actual, we’ve got the required intels from the Remnant site and we’re pursued by Night beasts, requesting support. How copy?” Yui talked into the radio set as the car bolted through the tree lines of the jungle as vicious rabid monsters began gaining on us.
“Solid copy Sakura Actual, we’ve contacted the Vietnamese for assistance but it’ll take them 30 minutes for their chopper to arrive. Over!” The radio operator said as I laid down suppressive fire down range.
“We don’t have 30 minutes, we are running low on both fuel and munitions. And it’s gonna get dark soon! Over!” she said as the sun slowly set behind us.
Running out of time and option, and knowing that my Revenant partner wasn’t to allow me to do something that reckless, I leaned down to our driver and began to tell her what to do.
“Alice, here’s what I’m going to do. Those things can’t track you through smoke, I’ll pop smoke and push you off into one of those bushes. There is a flare in my bag, lit it when you hear the chopper.”
“Wait sire, you can’t.”
“No time to argue. Scoot over.” I said, pushing her against the door while also clipping Yui’s webbing to hers.
Yui who was previously fixated on arguing with the radio operator noticed the click and before she knew it the smoke grenade went off. Seeing that the beast had been distracted by the smoke, I slowed down the car and pushed them both off the jeep.

As the smoke began to clear, I fired a few shots into the air while taunting the beasts and got their attention. After noticing that the girls had rushed out of sight, I put the pedal on the metal and bolted through the trees. I couldn’t address anyone on the radio since my push had sent Yui with the phone line over the railings of the jeep.
However, I was kept on noticed by the radio chatter as familiar banter caught my ear. It was the couple of Phuong and Giang, those whom I had once crossed path with while doing a VIP rescue mission for the Elves.
“Quickly! Quickly! Those kids are gonna die!”
“I’m doing the best I can, woman! Would you mind doing some recon instead of yelling into the mic?”
Their banter emitted through the radio gave me a sense of relief and humor, really made me forgot that I was driving for my life at the moment. The moment soon ended as the car ran out of fuel and was barely running on fumes and remaining inertia.
As the car slowly came to a halt, I grabbed my type 89, a few magazines and the bag of explosives, tossing a c4 block into the vehicle after connecting it to a claymore trigger. As the beasts began to catch up to my escape, lunged myself out of the car and detonated the explosives, setting the car ablaze as the sun went down.
Using the type 89, I dispatched the beasts that managed to cross my line of sight. However, the darkness was more of an ally to them rather me as I continuously slashed and bitten by them. Limping on my retreat, I continued fighting till I was entirely exhausted and fell on my knees, hoping that this time, I was going to die for sure. But then, a sudden flash of blaring red light illuminated the sky as a Huey encircled around my area, scaring off most of the beasts before landing and I was helped up onto the helicopter with the help of Yui and Alice while being covered by Phuong with the minigun.

“Tongzhi! Tongzhi! Geez, would you stop trying to kill yourself?” Yui said as she and Alice took each of my shoulders and dragged me to the helicopter.
“Master, you have to be more careful next time, it hurts me to see you like this.”
I then blacked out due to the blood loss as the Vietnamese began their bombing runs to cleanse the area of the remaining targets.

A Spirit Vein's Guide to Immortality
TL;DR Synopsis: Man dies from falling banana, gets interrogated but answers vaguely, suffers consequences Actual synopsis: Spirit veins. Many consider them to be the pillar on which the world of cultivation is built. These things served as the foundation for the first few realms that would allow humanity to achieve its everlasting dream of immortality. However, in the present age, these pockets of condensed energy only exist to be under the foundations of massive organizations, fostering a new generation of fighters while passively radiating the energy they contain. Nevertheless, spirit veins are still an important element in the world of cultivation, albeit much less so. With that in mind, have you ever considered what it would be like for someone to turn into a spirit vein? No? Well, Arthur never thought about it either. Going through the usual reincarnation schtick (if one could consider it usual), Arthur was eventually brought into a place where a god asked him where he would like to be reborn. Unsurprisingly, Arthur told the god his ideal rebirth. However, soon enough, he would come to realize that he should have been more specific with it. Now being reborn as the smallest spirit vein, or if you could even consider him a spirit vein, Arthur wondered what he could do other than wait for time to consume him…and that’s where the system came in. With it, he would experience multiple stories of hardships, adventure, romance, and action…all underground. Unless…? Do keep in mind that English is not my first language, so I would like to apologize in advance if there are any grammatical errors, typos, miscalculations and so on. In fact, I'd highly appreciate it if you tell me those mistakes. Also, this story focuses quite a lot on the gradual progression of the MC at the beginning, but in the long run, upgrading sprees would probably be more common. Thanks for reading this small note!
