《Young bloods (WIP)》Prologue:

It was 2050 when the “plague” ravaged the Asian continents, many died especially adults and those whose immunity have been compromised or adults whose antibodies were not strong enough to fight against. Our parents suffered that horrible fate. Researcher Satoko Kotegawa and Lieutenant General Kazuma Kotegawa were heroes, working long hours in quarantine districts of the Kyushu Island.

When our parents passed, I had made my only goal in life was to care for Gin as she was the only family that I had left. She was… my raison d’etre. After taking care of their funeral and burial, we escaped from the social services people, jumped a few trains and had been getting on by ourselves since then.

-Present day-

‘Ah how time flies’ the thought went through my head as Gin don on her new school uniform.

“How do I look nii-san?” Gin said, spinning and twirling around the half sheered lab coat that cloaked over the turtle neck dress that extends from her neck down to the middle of her thighs which was covered with black tights.

The uniform had a sort of mature look to it that reminded me of our mother who after a hard day working would come back with our father and would shower us with tons of love.

Seeing how grown up she became and seeing her donned the uniform reminded me of her, our dear mother, Satoko Kotegawa. Like our mother, Gin was a very gifted child and she had been admitted to quite a prestigious academy that would train and educate children from the beginning of their teens to their twenties and today was the day that a fresh stack of uniforms and an acceptance letter.

As the sense of melancholy came back to greet me, I then hold Gin tightly and gave her a kiss on the forehead while trying to hold back the tears.

“It looks… good…It looks good…”

I was happy, I felt as if my mission was complete, I was able to raised her through the painful, shameful poverty and even got her through primary. However, my happiness wasn’t lasting as disaster struck on the day she boarded the plane leaving for Tokyo.

With a pop, followed up with boom louder than thunder and scorching heat, I saw the plane went ablaze. As I was helped away by paramedics and first responders, I saw parachutes and planes covered the skies as disaster sirens roaring as the ambulance began wheeled away.

“Gin…”
