Immediately after the voice came, a brilliant flash of light descended and blinded Feng Yun for a moment causing him to go unconscious from the pressure exerted from it. After about an hour, he opened his eyes with a jolt. He knew that he had been asleep for some time and didn’t know where he was. Is it possible that I am in heaven?, he thought. After his eyes got accustomed to his surroundings from the flash of light that blinded him, his mouth widened in shock, disbelief as clear as day.

What he saw made his eyes glittery and his heart thump loudly. Feng Yun was glowing very brightly in a very fluorescent yellow color, hovering in an endless plane of darkness and light. Within the plane were stars and brilliant phenomenon occurring faster than light but so beautifully that one's heart was taken away each time they saw it happen. That wasn’t even the half of it. There so many planets all lined up in peculiar orders, definitely not native to Earth. These were true planets, planets that claimed sovereignty over others. They ranged from the hottest and burning brighter than the sun like planets to the ice cold jade and diamond planets that seemed to emanate an huge aura of frost that would envelop Feng Yun if not for the glowing aura surrounding him. He felt as if this image was being imprinted into his mind, the pure sight of it opening his eyes to ideas that shouldn't be able to exist at all. He had gained insights to how the universe works in that moment.

"Oh, you can already grasp the Universal Bindings heavenly cultivation method only learned by the sovereigns of the higher realms. Not bad kid. You may be a true genius."

Feng Yun looked up only to see a white haired handsome young man who seemingly looked at the peak of his youth in his 20s, but his expression and demeanor made him seem as if he were much much older. He wore a golden robe with silk embroidery on it. His eyes seemed to reflect the universe itself and there was a humongous sword about 10 meters long and 5 meters wide with the same golden color as the man's robes hovering directly above his head about 2 meters. Judging from his clothes, demeanor and pressure exerted, Feng Yun guessed he was a god. A particularly powerful one. He immediately kneeled down in front of him deciding to choose a polite tone.

“You must be God. So, is this supposed to be heaven?” he asked. “Also, what is this universal bindings cultivation method that you speak of?”

The man stared at Feng Yun with some interest as he was intrigued by the aura that Yun gave off. It was neither gentle nor wild but the embodiment of a calm but killer sea. In addition, the man was able to keep his composure before even a powerful deity.

“Child, you are in what we call the Gate of Life and Death. It’s a place that decides what type of life you will be reborn into based on the merits of your past life. As for myself, I am the sovereign that oversees the reincarnation cycle of beings across the vast universe, Yama. I’m just one of many powerful gods that live across the realm of Realm of Heavens. Normally, most individual beings that have died will be handled by my underlings as it is their job to serve me, however you interested me and I felt like coming to see you myself and make your judgement.”

“The Gate of Life and Death huh? A great god like you came personally to greet me. I’m flattered. So, which Path will I be passing through?”

“Good question. There are altogether six paths which starts at the Asura Path, the greatest of sinners and goes up to the Heaven Path for the greatest of deeds. Boy, the fact that you endured so much and sacrificed many a thing to save people from the corrupted as shoes that pollute your plane, has earned you a place in the Heaven Path. The Heaven Path ensures that you have a great future and unlimited potential in your new life but must still work hard to achieve your goals. Very few have passed through this path and you are one of them.”

Feng Yun raised his eyebrows at this. It was indeed true that he had accomplished many good deeds in his life. Being guaranteed unlimited potential should have made him extremely happy. However, Feng Yun was simply indifferent to this concept. Regardless of whether he had talent or not, Feng Yun would live a carefree lifestyle.

“Thanks. I appreciate it.” Yama’s smile slightly flickered as he noticed the indifference that Feng Yun exhibited. This kid, he thought. He truly doesn’t even care that he’s being given a priceless cultivation technique and genius like potential.

He then added,”We’re doing things a little differently however. You wanted a challenge in life right. Basically I’m granting you that wish. This is usually not allowed by the higher-ups but I think it will be fine for one person. I’m granting you the ability to keep your past memories within you. You will be a lot smarter and mature than other people your age and up.”

“It can’t be that simple. What’re your conditions?”, Feng Yun said. He perfectly understood that there was no such thing as a free lunch and that there had to be a catch for all the great benefits he was receiving.

“First, I want you to continue to slay people with justice in mind and anyone who sets a grudge with you can be killed. Second, you must become a sovereign before the age of one thousand years and move to the Realm of Heavens and find me once again. This is the reason for leaving you with your memories intact.”

“Okay. However, even if I’m on the Heaven Path, I cannot become a sovereign that easily. I would need external help from the heavens,” Feng Yun replied with narrowed eyes.

“You’re quite intelligent kid. That’s where the Universal Bindings cultivation method will help you. You grasped it so fast that it’s shocking. No one has ever done it in that short of a time. This cultivation method was created by one of the great sovereigns that are higher in power than me and is the most powerful method that I know of. It will help you train extremely fast but you must go through so much pain it may not be worth it. After all you are only human,” Yama said solemnly.

However Feng Yun was unfazed and stayed calm with a firm and determined expression on his face.

“No matter what the cost is, I will live my new life to the fullest. I will go through whatever trials and tribulations that I must to achieve my goals.”

“Nice job kid. I’m truly convinced that I picked the right person. The method is already imprinted in your mind so you can use it whenever you want as long as you are in a meditating position. Go forth and become stronger than anyone in the new plane you shall enroll in,” Yama said with a smile.

“Alright. Well then, I hope that we meet again Yama.” Feng Yun said. Yama nods and opens up a book. His hands are flipping through the pages when it suddenly stops at one of them.

“Hmm…this is a good plane to send you to. Good luck Feng Yun and become strong enough to achieve your goals as well as mine.”

Feng Yun is immediately beamed out of existence into a new plane while Yama stares at the place he just was.

“Haha. He truly is an interesting fellow. Just like you, Senior Xiang. He will become powerful. Watch him.” Yama whispered in the sky. Then, all was silent and the eyes of the future emperor opened into its brilliant form.
