《Dark historian》Chapter 36: What are we going to do?

George woke up and was in the principal’s office, he was lying on the same spot as last time. Solomon was sitting behind his desk working and didn’t see George wake up. George was able to stand up a lot easier than he expected, he didn’t feel any pain except for his face that burned a little, even the pain he felt from the injuries he got in the mines was gone.
Solomon eventually noticed George and pointed at the chair in front of him, he clearly wasn’t in a good mood and was looking at him with a disappointed look on his face.
George tried touching his face but the second his fingers made contact with the bandages he felt a sharp pain.
“Don’t worry about the skin damage, I’ve already healed the important parts and its only superficial. I would have healed that one as well but I don’t want the clan to know I healed you. I expect the damage to be healed in two to three session days.” Solomon went back to writing, he was still angry and seeing George sitting there without saying anything made it even worse. He waited a while for George to react but seeing no reaction he got impatient and looked up only to see George looking at the ground and ignore him like he wasn't even there which made him even angrier.
“How can you be so stupid? You attacked a noble, the punishment for doing that is working in the mines for five session years, if you keep quiet and don’t make any more trouble. I don’t know how you let it come this far, what happened to I just want to live a simple life?” Solomon was clearly disappointed; he had not seen George again after their talk and had expected him to come looking for him when he was ready to do something with his life, but now he had no other choice but to send him to the mines.
The elder was not someone Solomon could con like other people and he didn’t have any choice but do as the elder ordered him to. Solomon was also a cleric and one of his special moves is the ability hit someone without them getting any real damage except for pain. He had used it on George to make it look like he had punished him and tried to get him out of there before a someone saw him but unfortunately It was too late.
Not only had the old man found out, he even used the same move on the kids to show him that he was onto him. To everyone else, it looked like he was teaching the kids a lesson but Solomon knew that it was meant to put Solomon in his place, people like the elder had a high position and didn’t have an interest in the kids so they usually wouldn’t get themselves involved.

‘Scary Monster used one of my signature moves I worked years to perfect like it was nothing.’ Solomon shook his head still not believing how the elder had performed a skill that it took him years to learn.
Solomon was part of a noble clan that had a complicated relationship with the Hooper Clan, what nobody except for Solomon and the elder knew was that the one that killed the elder was Solomon’s father. The elder didn’t bother Solomon because he was too proud for that, but it wasn't a secret that he didn’t like Solomon, Maybe if he had stayed out of it and let the kids resolve the situation themselves, the boy wouldn’t have been sent to the mines.
Solomon was even angrier on himself than he was on George, Solomon had a completely different look on life than other nobles. He didn’t think of other people as lower beings and if it was up to him everyone would have the same rights. He even went as far as not to wear the colors of the clan, this had damaged his relationship with his father to the point that he didn’t even try to buy him when he died. He knew that the Hooper Clan had only bought him so that they could humiliate his father, but they wouldn't hurt him, he was still the son of the leader of a powerful clan and hurting him could mean going to war.
“Will you say something!” Solomon got impatient and slammed the table with his fist, he would have sent George to the mines already if it wasn't partly his fault, he believed that everyone should be held accountable for their own actions, but he couldn’t deny his own involvement and stupidity in the matter.
“Is there a way to get out of this situation?” George was still looking at the ground and didn’t feel like talking, he had tried to reason with people but the result would always be the same anyway.
“Luckily the punishment is not as heavy because you didn’t kill the boy and you are a minor, you will be sent to the mines to work for eight hours a day and get paid three credits every session day so you can eat and keep your room. You are only allowed to go straight to the mines and back to your room and are not allowed to visit any classes. If you talk to anyone about what happened today at the mansion you will face consequences, one of them being imprisoned in the mines and your five-session year sentenced doubled.” Solomon tried to sound reassuring but at the same time scare George enough to make sure he didn't talk to anyone about today's incident, he knew that the elder had less than one session year left before in Wine village and that after the elder left he could sneak George out of wine village.

“You didn’t answer my question.” George was burning up inside, he had never gotten this angry, not even when Vincent was around. He didn’t know if it was because of today’s incident or everything that had happened the last couple of session days but he finally understood that he didn’t want to just sit by and do nothing anymore.
Solomon was a little surprised by George's reaction. George was still young and therefore a lot more sensitive to situations like this and he didn’t want to make him worried, but George had reacted in a completely unexpected way and looked calm for someone who had just received a prison sentence.
“There is a way, but forget about it, officially the person that gets first place in the annual tournament has the right to pick three people to enter the dungeon as the first team. This is a rule the three clans came up with together and it can’t be broken without paying the ultimate price of destruction by the other clans. But it can’t be done, there has never been anyone in Wine village that has won the tournament that wasn’t part of one of the three clans. Besides, didn’t you always say you want to have an easy life? The mines have been depleted for years and nobody expects you mine for minerals, you can just go there and read all the books you want. I will even help you find the books you like and bring them to you.” Solomon had a big smile on his face and tried to make it sound like everything was going to be okay.
“And I can’t enter the tournament myself?” George didn’t know a lot about his legacy but if he could train for the next two session months maybe he had a chance to win this thing. He had seen how strong the prince was and if he could learn to control the power he had a chance to get out of here.
“No, the prisoners of the Clans can only watch the tournament and not enter them.” Solomon Shook his head a little surprised by George’s question, he couldn’t be as stupid to think that he had a chance to defeat the noble’s right?
“I understand, I’ll be kicked out of Nash in a couple of hours so I’ll be going back to my room now. If there is nothing else, please excuse me.” George didn’t wait for Solomon to answer and got up to leave the room, he didn’t think he could control himself if he stayed there any longer and complaining to Solomon wouldn’t solve anything, he was just one of their puppets and he couldn’t do anything for him anyway.
Solomon wanted to say something but didn't know what to say in a situation like this. He always thought George would come to his senses and come looking for him when he was ready but everything had gone wrong and this was the result, the future of a young bright arrival destroyed by something so stupid. But there was nothing he could do right now, so the best thing was to give George time and help him when he could leave the village when the chance arrived.
George was sitting on his bed and didn’t pay any attention to anything around him, it was like everything that had happened the last couple of session days had pushed him too far and he felt a rage inside him that he had never felt before. He always thought that after leaving Vincent he would have the chance of a normal life but the last couple of session days had made it clear that nothing had changed and that Vincent was not the disease but just a symptom.
Martin was looking at George sitting on his bed and was also thinking about what he was going to do next, in just one day he had lost the right to be part of the clan his family’s helped build. A part of him blamed George but deep inside he knew that it was his fault for taking George to the mansion, not only had they almost killed him but now he had to stay in Wine village for the next five-session years.
Martin waited another ten minutes before he got impatient and asked George what they were going to do next and how they were going to get their revenge.
“Forget about those people, they are just acting their part in this corrupt world we life in.” George didn’t care about those people and he knew that if he tried to take revenge and kill one, two would come to take his place and it would be a never-ending battle with no way of winning.
“Don’t tell me you’re just going to let them do this to us without doing anything about it?” Martin yelled from the top of his lungs, was George really going to stay in Wine village for the next five-session years?
Martin didn't want to admit it but was a little scared, he was all alone for the first time in his life. George was the only one left and it gave him some comfort he wasn’t completely alone, but he and George were completely different people, and for a seccond he had forgotten how annoying George’s was.
“Who said anything about not fighting back.”
