Chapter 18: Good Fortune
It was a new morning as I woke up and looked over at the girls sleeping in the bed. They seemed like angels in the bed cuddling next to each other. I guessed their late night chats after I had gone to sleep had drawn them closer together. I hesitated to wake them up as they seemed to at peace. But we had a job to do and we couldn’t dawdle around.
I woke them up gently by calling their names,
“Emi and Foxy we’ve got to get up. Otherwise all the good missions will be gone.”
“mmhmmm,”said one of them or perhaps both of them it was rather hard to decipher who was saying what as neither of them seemed to be reacting to what I said.
“Come Emi and Foxy,” I lightly shook them both to try and get them awake. At last I noticed some life as they started stretching. Emi’s eyes opened rather slowly and spotted me they widened rather quickly as she noticed my position. I had maneuvered myself seemed to be straddling in the area between and to get a better position to wake them up.
“Cl-Clover what are you doing? Your face is rather close isn’t it?” Emi blushed slightly.
After she had pointed it out I had noticed I was rather close to them and to the stranger passing by it could have looked like I was just about to get into bed with them.
“Sorry!” I withdrew myself as quickly as I had noticed, “Could you wake up Foxy for me?”
“Y-Yeah no problem.”
I got off from the bed and tried busying myself with the nondescript task of trying to get ready very, very slowly. I tried to put how close I was to them out of my mind. In my previous life I had never been so close to girls that were unrelated to me. It made my heart pump and wake me up fairly quickly. I cheered silently in my head as I celebrated getting closer to girls in this new life.

After I had slowly gotten ready and Emi had somehow convinced a rather sleepy Foxy to get up, I left so that they could get changed and prepared for the new day.
After I had come back with the some of the fresh bread from the bakery and a jar of silky sweet blueberry jam I had found in the farmers market, Foxy and Emi had gotten changed and were far more awake then I had left. Emi looked to have calmed down from the rather surprisingly intimate wake up. We had our breakfast and the bread again did not disappointed. I had chosen a whole-wheat option as I had remembered somewhere from my past life that it was healthier and would provide a longer more sustained carbohydrate burn. It had an earthy nuttiness that complimented well with the sweet fruity blueberry jam.
After we had eaten our breakfast we set towards reaching the Adventurer’s Guild. However by the time we had gotten there it was already starting to get rather busy with lots of different classes and types of people frequently entering and exiting. I took a moment to take it all, we were finally adventurers blocked from getting help from our parents we have to fend for ourselves. It made me feel rather responsible for the other two as I as mentally much older than them. Even if I hadn’t experienced much besides reading in my previous life.
The Adventurer’s Guild was packed with people standing on the hard oak floors. There were a fair amount who seemed to be adventuring alone, those were mainly warriors, rogues and other melee classes. While in the groups there seemed to be a better balance of players with a fair few mages and ranged fighters in the mix. However predominantly there seemed to be more swordfighters than anything else.

No one paid any attention to us as we walked to the billboard and looked at the jobs available for us. As we were looking Foxy made a suggestion,
“Why don’t we target a Rank 2 mission? It will allow us to level up faster and take more and more difficult missions.”
“Sounds like a great idea!” Emi said
“Yeah I agree.” I had felt yesterday’s mission had been rather boring without any fighting or action. I also wanted to do more than I had done yesterday and perhaps, fingers crossed, impress them a bit.
“This mission looks pretty solid.” My eyes were drawn to a Rank 2 mission to find and hunt 5 goblins that had been terrorizing the nearby farm area. Receive 1 gold piece for each goblin killed and 3 gold pieces for boss type goblin. Heads required.
“Yeah should allow us practice our sword skills too!” Emi agreed.
“Kind of a low gold gain though…”Foxy said.
“Yeah but we’re only looking to get more experience right now we can always go for harder missions later. We still have plenty of time!” Emi replied.
“Okay then…”Foxy sounding like she was not entirely convinced.
She relented in the end and we accepted the mission. It was a half a days walk or a 1 hour ride to the area. I thought that it would be to not use horses until we had gained money maintaining the last debacle had taught us the unpredictability of the world can be a poor trick to those poor enough to suffer it and not be able to repay the damages.
We also brought lunches of blackberry marinaded venison sandwiches and by the time we had gotten to the farms it was already noon. So we decided to have lunch while keeping half an eye out for the goblins that seemed to be around the area. I chose a place that seemed to be a great place to have picnic. It was nicely shaded by a tree and a cool breeze flowed through.
It was a rather cool day out on the fields waiting for the goblins so it was rather nice to sit outside and eat our lunch. However halfway through our lunch I spotted something moving in the distance. I immediately got the attention of my companions and pointed to the specks in the distance. We put away our sandwiches and prepared our weapons. Emi had her Fire and Ice swords, I had my Dark and Light dual swords and Foxy seemed to take out her two daggers that she somehow produced from somewhere.
We were on high alert as we waited to see a clearer picture of the sudden intruders. They came closer and closer, all of us were rather on edge as at least I knew that this would be Emi’s and my first proper battle. Because of the place I had chosen we were prime to ambush the intruders if they got close to the farm. Allowing us to luckily defend both the house and have a decent chance to catch them in ambush. We prepared ourselves for a fight if the intruders turned hostile.

Truck-kun Gets Sacrificed
Driscoll is my own version of a world with a game-like "system" of endless possibilities. MC has his own status, classes, skills, magic, and a living greatswordstaff in a world of monsters, demi-humans of all kinds, and even the supernatural. Sound good? Well, at first for Tru, it was a dream come true(I'm sorry). At least until reality hits him again and again. His quest from God is vague and must be discovered by him along the way. Hopefully, he can figure that out someday but for now, this new world's threats and his potential for power are motivation aplenty. With His new partner by his side, he's ready to embark on his mission of infinite sacrifice, however many lives it takes. The setting is pretty standard for fantasy, with my beginner attempts at writing. Litrpg elements are definitely involved here but It'll calm down as the story progresses and the world's foundation is laid. Judeo/Christian themes and principles take a major role and will be a backbone for much of the story. The fights will paint a picture in the mind rather than just be a bunch of number crunching. While he is meant to be a sacrifice to save all of Driscoll, he needs to gain enough power and influence to be a worthwhile sacrifice, or so he thinks. And so carnage will ensue as he avoids death as best he can while at the same time sacking himself for others. Truck Coon is your average determined, jiu-jitsu practitioner, tax associate that just started his new career. He dies to save kids from a semi-truck(Truck Coon got truck-kun'd, making him Truck-kun) and is transported to another world rather conventionally by God. Upon his arrival, he is quickly confronted with his first conflicts in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Chapters are currently between 2300 and 4000 words and I try to post weekly, but also deal with severe limitations that cause late posts often. I have zero actual experience with writing stories and only recently started reading web novels in 2020. If you end up hating it, let me know your thoughts in a detailed comment or review, especially if you love it though :D I want to get better and welcome the feedback, so expect changes to be made with any flaws that y'all point out which I don't already have plans to address in future chapters. That being said, keep it constructive in nature, please. I have no Idea how the formatting and such will go, so if you like or dislike some techniques I try, give me that well-appreciated feedback! Thank you for reading.
