《Cliché cliché the classic cancer cliché》Chapter 101

A certain manager's POV

So here's the problem, I recently hired a young child. Don't get me wrong, it's just a part-time job, nothing shady. His performance? Outstanding. I can't believe that full-grown adults with psionic abilities are unable to match a young child running around to deliver pizzas. This makes me think, however, isn't the child really strong?

"Sir, I'm clocking out" the young voice called to me as I watched him leave the store. He didn't appear to be muscular or anything of the sort, he just looked fit. The young boy who recently managed to enter the city based on blood tests alone left the store just as quickly as he came.

We area pizza delivery shop and I am the branch manager and also the employer. The name PitzaPub had been bringing the wrong crowds recently where customers mistakenly thought that they could consume alcohol in our child-friendly establishment. So I'm starting to wonder if I should change the name of the store... but I digress.

As I was thinking, the child. Yes, his name is Dominic, and from what I can tell, he is super fast. This might be a blessed skill he received from the gods up above. The next thing that I can tell is that he has some pretty absurd strength as well. I'm not talking about something as minor as being stronger than other adults, that's common! Children with talented abilities tend to be able to do that. I'm talking about the ability to lift up a truck with a single hand!

It was a simple Thursday afternoon, and there was this huge truck blocking the roads. It weighs a few thousand kilograms and appeared to be carrying concrete and metals meant for construction works. Of course, this brought a lot of inconvenience to the public as well as the businesses here where the people avoided this place as if it was a plague. Business was slow that day due to these excruciating circumstances. The question of why the truck was parked there had never crossed my mind. After all, strange things happen around the city all the time. Buildings blowing up, explosions, and espers fighting for supremacy. For me of course, nothing out of the ordinary usually happens as us common folks just live our lives as it is. So the delivery orders for that day were particularly high, where customers that frequent our store would ask for delivery due to the inconvenience.

So, as per my contract with the child, for every 2 deliveries that he gets done, he'd get another dollar from me. This naturally worked in my favor where the amount I'd get far exceeds how much I'm paying him. His delivery was fast, as usual, not taking up more than 5 minutes each. Which meant that I'm actually paying him close to 16 per hour on high-demand days. Not that I'm complaining. I can't think of hiring another delivery man with the same standards and low pay after all.

I had expected him to take a much longer time for the deliveries with the trucks blocking the way and my expectations turned out to be completely wrong. He left and came back as quickly as always. When I got curious and looked out, I saw him lifting up the truck and placing it back down gently each time he went past it! What's more, he didn't even look like he was having a hard time. What kind of monster with that kind of ability chooses to become a deliveryman! When I recounted this story to my friends, they laughed at me and said that I'm making things up. I could have sworn to the great goddess though...

Well, enough with the idle thoughts. It's time for a short break before the night shift.

Dominic POV

Your Intelligence has fallen greatly! 5>5

Another day, another blue screen.

I swiped the screen away as I got up to prepare breakfast. Ah, it really is tough being a single mother... especially when you're a pre-teen male. I lamented about my tragic fate while cracking the egg onto the frying pan.

Today's breakfast was the same as always. Toasted bread and eggs.

As per usual, my siblings were asleep. My brother managed to snag a job as a waiter at some restaurant... even though none of them would hire me for my age...

Heading into his room, I looked at his unforgivingly handsome face and decided to dump water on his face.

"WAKE UP" I exclaimed dramatically as the cup of water flew towards him.

"Yes, yes I'm awake" he groggily got up.

"You should stop waking me up like that..." the sunlight and water only further served to highlight his devastatingly good looks. I made a mental note to use a bucket from now onwards.

Moving on, I opened the door to my sister's room. And proceeded to pull on the blankets, causing her to be roused from her slumber. When the sun shone upon her as she slowly got up, a chill ran up my spine as I envisioned the number of hearts she would break in the future.

"Breakfast is ready" I informed her as she wobbled and laid back down onto her bed.

I looked at the furnishing around the house and can't help but be pleasantly surprised that my brother managed to get the beds for under 30 credits. It was crazy. He told me that they were second-hand goods he acquired from a garage sale. I'm very sure an entire bed isn't something that can be bought for 10 or fewer credits though...

Nevertheless, I went back to cooking in the kitchen and could see my siblings heading towards the bathroom on their own accord.

~~~~~~~~
"Thank you for the meal" my siblings put their hands together before eating the breakfast that I had prepared with all my heart and soul. It had been 2 weeks since we settled down here and I could see that they have begun to adapt to their lifestyle.
"I'm going to bring her to school before heading to work" my brother informed me as he flew out of the door with my younger sister following along behind. Sadly for me, I'm unable to fly like them. In fact, it took them only a short while to learn the art of freely soaring in the skies with their telekinetic ability. Clearing the plates like a normal person, I changed and left for my workplace. I wasn't in a hurry so I decided to take a longer route.
I admired the scenery time and time again as I see cars and flying espers rushing to their workplaces or schools. It was funny seeing how people that can reach their workplaces within minutes having to rush. It was as if they planned to be late in the first place.
Out of the corner of my eyes, I spotted a familiar man which went by the name of Mr.Spec if I remembered it correctly. Seeing as I had time, I headed over towards him who was darting around between alleyways. He appeared to be breathing heavily, his eyes were murky and I could see him covering the left side of his waist with his hands. The crimson liquid that had dried and was all over his shirt told me that he had been involved in things that I really don't want my siblings to come into contact with. At least, not now. If possible, not ever.
"Hi, there" I greeted him.
His eyes widened as he looked at me.
"This isn't part of..." he muttered to himself.
"Need help?" I asked him.
"I'm fine" he replied as he walked past me.
"Are you sure?" I asked again, looking at him who appeared to be hurrying off somewhere.
"Yes...can you move away from this area?" he requested of me.
I noticed a bunch of people surrounding the alleyway where we were as they looked at us from above and from the streets.
"Tsk" he clicked his tongue as he attempted to drag me off somewhere. Reaching his hand out, he pulled on my arm only for him to be shocked that he couldn't move me. I have a job that starts in 10 minutes, I can't afford to be dragged into somewhere else after all.
Seeing as he was trying to drag me into the passageway hidden by an illusion spell, I can only assume that he was attempting to escape from the figures around.
"What are you doing? Follow me!" he exclaimed as bullets, plasma, lasers, and magic spells flew towards us from the assailants around. I blew them away with the wind pressure by punching the air. At the same time, the walls around us cracked. I really hope that it didn't cause anything to collapse... I wouldn't be able to afford even a fraction of the damage I've caused.
"My job's starting soon, I don't have time for this" I sighed thinking about the troublesome situation that I had gotten myself into.
Kicking off against the ground, I leaped towards the enemies nearby. They immediately started to fire at me with the various weapons they had and some even pulled out swords and various plasma weapons. Their efforts were in vain as I swiftly slammed my arm into them, causing some to explode upon the impact and sending most of them flying away. I notice chains binding down the enemies that had tried to escape and pulling them into a magic circle that had formed below them.
"It's changing again!" I can hear Mr. Spec panicking in the background as he headed into the passageway where he had attempted to drag me along.
It was a good thing that none of the blood had gotten onto me.
I can't be late for my job after all.
3rd POV
Mr. Spec found himself lost. It had been a few centuries since he had felt this way, but nonetheless, his legs didn't stop carrying him forward in the hidden passageway built by the founding members of the city as an escape route from the Headquarters. It was a hidden path that leads to various schools and districts all around the city, allowing them to escape to the location that they wanted.
"Could he be a candidate?" Mr. Spec wondered to himself as he recalled the immense strength that was displayed. It wasn't earth-shattering or anything so he couldn't really put his finger on it. Not to mention that he was unable to predict Dominic's path before. In fact, he didn't even know of his existence until the first time they met.
"Damn" he cursed as he made turns accordingly to the predefined paths that he was supposed to take. The future had changed greatly from that little interaction with the possible candidate previously. "I sure hope that I manage to make it in time..." he cursed as he emerged at the residential area of the central district. This was where the great esper of the future would be born. Though not as great as the hero, he was someone who was naturally gifted with powers, one that wasn't inherited but had originated from him instead. A huge war potential on humanity's side during the great war of the future.
With his ability to peer into the records of the future, Mr. Spec headed towards a certain house where a certain white-haired youth has been surrounded by members of the Cult. They wield a symbol of a pentagram with a star drawn in the middle and were engaged in a life and death struggle against the future No.1 in the academic city.
Based on previous predictions, the white-haired youth would barely win the struggle and grow stronger after the encounter, learning how to deflect most magic spells directed towards him." However, with the intervention of the candidate... he will lose his life over this!" Mr. Spec cried internally as he rushed forward to the scene in an attempt to save the life of the youth.
