《I am a Guardian in another world!?》Chapter 93: A Gentleman's Dignity

Field Marshall Brezveck grinned as Lawrence said that, tossing his helmet aside, revealing beads of perspiration all over his face. In fact, even his own soldiers haven't seen him break a sweat over several bouts of sparring. The old lion was grinning, not because he felt a thrill running through him.
He couldn't let his men know the fear he was feeling right now. That pale complexion he had wasn't from the adrenaline, but from the fact that he had no idea how Lawrence had survived every blow he had dealt that would have skewered even his toughest and boldest subordinates.
And now, he was to hear that Lawrence had barely been serious. This means that he would be dead in a bout or two. Brezveck had always knew that he would probably die on the field of battle, but not as someone on the losing side of the battle. Maybe a stray arrow fired by a desperate archer would strike him down right as they raised his proud nation's flag, but not like this.
The sound of the frontlines were coming closer. Not a good sign. This meant that Brezveck only had one chance. He had to kill or seriously injure Lawrence so that his own men can finish him off.
Right now, it seems like a pipe dream.
Brezveck tightened his hold on his scimitars and lunged forward again, slamming a single blade against the tower shield and aiming to sweep him off his feet in a falling kick. His feet connected as he fell, slamming into Lawrence. However, Lawrence did not fall. Instead, he saw a tower shield shoving him, throwing him back several feet, kicking dirt and sand into his face.
The old lion coughed, spitting out dirt from his mouth. Suddenly, almost as if Lawrence had moved with superhuman speed, the tower shield connected directly into his face. The pain sent Brezveck yelling as he reeled backwards slamming into one of his own men.

Brezveck staggered to his feet, only one scimitar left in his hand.
With wild abandon, Brezveck charged, screaming as he dashed forward but he saw a blueish flame from a sword that Lawrence had.
"With dignity, please..." Brezveck whispered and he thought he saw Lawrence blink a few moments.
Suddenly the shield that was guarding him seemed loosely held. Brezveck dealt a singular blow that made Lawrence stagger a bit, revealing a chest plate that Brezveck knew he had no chance of cutting. Yet, he still stabbed, throwing his whole weight into the blow.
He connected with the metal and he felt a massive pain in his abdomen as Lawrence plunged his blade into the elderly commander's stomach.
"T-Thank you..." Brezveck whispered as Lawrence held onto the gentleman as he fell to the ground.
Seeing their commander fall, the Gerheist soldiers began to rout, as Lawrence sat with Brezveck, the elderly man whimpering.

The Perks of Immortality
This story will no longer be updated. After living decades and dying hundreds of times, Kegan has learned that he has finally passed some test that the cruel spirit had given him. Now, Kegan has the ability to gain “perks” that can make his life much easier. He is looking forward to finally having an easy life with the new perks he has earned. Rules to keep me honest for the perk system: Spoiler: Spoiler 1. The purpose of perks is to help the MC live longer and do new things each life. 2. The perks can be unlocked by getting hurt or killed. 3. The perks can be unlocked by putting in a lot of effort that isn’t easily duplicated in a new life. 4. Perks are generally beneficial enhancements to the MC’s body. 5. Perk costs can be lowered with more impressive achievements to unlock them. 6. Perk costs can be lowered by repeated death or injury from something the perk protects against. 7. Perk costs are increased for quality of life improvements that don’t benefit survival. I want to avoid one of the pitfalls I see for other LitRPG stories where the game elements barely relate to the story, or offer very little information. If people are skipping over and not reading the perks then I'm doing things wrong. So I promise to try and make the perks interesting, sometimes humorous, informative, and relevant to the story.Cover art by http://dertypaws.com/

8 97The Dragon Wakes
The world was never the same after Worldbreak. None of the world's best prophets, fortune-tellers, or soothsayers had ever predicted its coming, but no amount of forewarning could have helped. Monsters from far below the Earth's surface burrowed through the ground, killing everyone in their path. The militaries of the world, united in cause, could only hold on for a time. With the UN sputtering its last, dying breath, hope came in the form of a man appearing from a nuclear explosion. From a world of sorcery, his knowledge could have been the exact thing humanity needed. But his magic simply wasn't enough. Florian Cale didn't care. Anything that could see him reunited with his family half a world away was a chance he'd stake everything on. He'd learn magic, and he'd learn it well. Or else... he'd die trying. But really, weren't they all doomed anyway?
8 107The Break
What would you do if you knew humans were not the only Intelligent ones? What would you think if you knew humans had more potential and power than you thought? What would you aim for if you knew that all dimensions will merge and become one again? When you could have the power to not only protect yourself but to influence this changing world by the core, what would be your first goal? Laith Arslan never knew that he had to come across these questions. And it all started with one dream. A dream that changed his life completely.
